A/N: Seff and Allium

I received a comment asking about Seff and Allium's fraught relationship, so I thought I'd address it.
These two 18-year-old girls were very sheltered their whole lives growing up in Magnolia Manor. It was all they knew until they were Chosen to join the Sun pack. Seff, having lost her parents and having uncaring brothers, her only connection was Allium, who she grew up being best friends and as close as sisters. They love each other for better and worse.
When they moved to the Sun, everything changed. They each had their own vision of what would happen in their next stage of life, and that's what triggered their fight. The catalyst for the whole story was Seff's want/need to protect her friend from a villain. That rings true until now, so even though Allium was a terrible friend, she still wants to protect one of the few anchors she has left of "home," (Magnolia Manor) and their old lives. Seff tries her best to be selfless for those she cares about even if it's not reciprocated and tends to be a pushover, but she still takes no shit when the time comes.
As a writer, it's crucial to not write "perfect" characters. If there was no conflict between two or more characters, there would be no story. Seff and Allium are very flawed, their relationship even more so; they're naive and suffered traumatic experiences, so I feel it's natural for them to want to reconnect just to feel safe again, like how it used to be between them.
Furthermore, every reader has the right to feel the way they do, and I'll insert my own opinion: I don't believe Seff can forgive Allium completely and vice versa. Allium treating her so unfairly so suddenly even though Seff only wanted to protect her will leave a stain on their friendship forever. At the current point now, however, Allium has plenty of reason to hate Seff. But at some point, they were both selfless to save the other. That doesn't heal their relationship; it's just a bandaid. Even if they forgive each other, it will still take much more time for them to fully resolve their issues, and it remains to be seen how their future, both individually and together, pans out.
