I have one class then I'll be going to the office to prepare for the meeting David and Alex had with the clients. Putting my phone and charger in my purse once I was done, I put my suit jacket on before grabbing my coat and leaving my room. The sound of nails scraping on the wood floors made me look up in time to dodge our dogs, who were running towards the stairs and I chuckled when they tumbled down before getting back up and continuing their run.
"NO RUNNING!" Dad yelled making all six dogs skid to a halt a mere foot away from him.
"You know you're not supposed to run inside the house." Dad reprimanded them making them whine as if they knew what he was saying and I shook my head.
"Don't be mean to them Daddy." Hayden whined getting down on the floor and cuddling his dog, Maisie and Dad rolled their eyes.
"I swear one of these days you're going to come home and they'll be gone." Dad grumbled making Hayden's eyes widen.
"He's kidding baby, aren't you Honey?" Mom asked with a raised brow as she set the table for breakfast.
"Of course I am" Dad quickly replied. Oh, mama was a force to be reckoned with when it came to her kids. Even Dad was scared of her when she had that look on her face.
"See sweetie no need to worry," Mama said as she looked down at Hayden who gave a sigh of relief making me chuckle.
"Mama will never let Dad get rid of the dogs," I said ruffling his hair and he whined swatting my hand complaining that I ruined his hair and I rolled my eyes.
"Morning by the way," I stated and my parents and little brother rolled their eyes.
"Morning sweetie, how did you sleep?" Mama asked as she placed a plate of fruit, oatmeal, and a glass of juice in front of me and I smiled.
"Good and you?" I asked and smiled when Hayden sat down beside me and just as she was about to reply familiar voices on their way to the dining room filled the air and Mama sighed shaking her head muttered under her breath about them being noisy as hell making me chuckle.
"GOOD MORNING FAMILY!" Jaylen yelled as he and the other two walked in with David hitting him upside the head.
"Inside voices Jaylen we're not at a concert," Mama said with her hands on her hips and a brow raised making my brother give her a sheepish grin.
"Sorry Mama," he said giving her a kiss on the cheek after David and Maribel had given her one.
Despite those three having places of their own that were five minutes away from here they always came by in the mornings and if they got a chance, they'd stop by for dinner. After everyone had greeted each other, we all sat around and talked for a few moments before David and I had to head out to the office since classes got canceled due to the snow, my professor had messaged everyone and it's a good thing because I was about to ask David if he could take me since the office was in the same direction as my college.
"Have you talked with Alex?" He asked as he drove us to the office and I shook my head as I looked out the window, "why not?"
"I texted him does that count?" I asked looking over at him and he sighed stopping at a red light before looking over at me for a second.
"And what did he say?" He quizzed.
"He just said that I had every right to say what I said because of his past but I'm still sorry that I didn't believe him when he said loved me" I muttered. Last night David told me that Alex hadn't been to a club in months since we slept together. People have even started making up rumors that he was in a car accident that he had gone to rehab for addiction or that he got secretly married.
"Why hasn't Alex addressed the rumors that are circulating around him?" I asked.
"Because he doesn't care what people say about him, I mean he's been on the news for years due to his sleeping around with men and women" he replied and I nodded, "but I'm sure his publicist or his mother's publicist is working on addressing the rumors since Alex is the type of person to just let everything cool down and continue with his life as if nothing has happened."
"Why?"
"That's how he does things."
"Will he address the rumors about him being a father when the media starts noticing us together and going to the doctor's office?"
"Yes. He only ever really addresses rumors when it concerns those he cares about and I'm sure that he'll talk about those rumors once the media gets wind of you both together and all that crap" he replied and I nodded looking out the window with a sigh.
"The meeting doesn't start until 4 and I'm sure Alex will be at the office once we get there to go over things together so just talk with him and fix things between the two of you before it's too late Katt," David said and as he predicted, Alex's 2018 black Audi R8 was parked in the empty space beside David's parking space in the private parking lot that was reserved only for clients, David, the family, and Alex. I took a deep breath as I got out of the car with David walking around to my side so we could walk together.
"It's going to be okay KitKat," he said shoulder checking me softly and I smiled.
"Uh, David," I murmured seeing a familiar face in the lobby talking with Alex.
"What are you doing here?" David asked as we approached both males with Alex's eyes lingering on me and I bit my bottom lip.
"Came to talk." Xander, David's ex replied and I looked at my brother who narrowed his eyes at his ex.
"There's nothing to talk about Xander," my brother said before looking at Alex and me, "I'll see you both in the meeting room in an hour."
We nodded and with that, David turned on his heel and walked down the hall with Xander after him.
"I'm surprised your bother didn't threaten to get security to throw him out," Alex said as we watched my brother and Xander enter his office.
"I'm pretty sure he'll do that if Xander doesn't leave" I replied with a sigh and he raised a brow before shaking his head.
"Come on, let's go talk."
"Okay."
