Bonus Alexander 1
As soon as I got off, I clicked the car key fob and locked the car. Just as I turned the engine on, my phone began to ring again. I quickly picked it up without checking the ID, which I should have done, as soon as David's voice cursed me to hell and back, exploding through the speaker and making me close my eyes.
"WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING?! ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID?! Fucking hell, Alex!" he snapped, making me swallow the lump that had formed in my throat.
"I know I fucked up; I don't need you to remind me," I muttered, willing my tears to stay at bay, but my voice betrayed me. "I don't even know what the hell happened, I swear."
"Fuck, where are you?" he asked. I could picture him pacing his house while running his fingers through his hair in frustration. I didn't blame him for blowing up the way he did, since I knew Kat must have called him to tell him what happened.
"I'm in my car at the Hilton Hotel. I might just stay here since Kat doesn't want me to go home," I sighed, rubbing my face in exhaustion. It's not even 10, and I already want to crash on a bed and sleep for the rest of my life.
"No, you're coming to stay with Xander and me. I already talked to Kat, and she said it was alright," he stated before adding, "and we are going to talk and get to the bottom of this because I know you'd never intentionally hurt my sister."
"I'd never hurt her," I replied, thanking him for giving me a place to crash while I figured out this whole mess. Kat didn't call or answer any of my phone calls for at least three weeks after I confessed to her about sleeping with a woman I'd never seen. We didn't see each other unless it was for me to see the kids, but even then, she'd leave me alone with them while she went to a different room in the house. I won't say it didn't hurt, because fuck, it hurt like hell having her ignore me. But what hurt the most was her calling me a cheating and lying bastard, saying she shouldn't have gotten together with me knowing that I was a player. It was a slap in the face hearing her say that, but I couldn't really blame her since I didn't have evidence to help me fix our marriage.
Eventually, Kat said that she just couldn't deal with my cheating and that she wanted a divorce, which took me completely off guard.
"Why?" I asked, shocked.
"You cheated on me, Alex! Who's to say that it won't happen again if we ever fix this?" she retaliated.
"I'd never cheat on you, like I've told you before when we first got together. I'm getting to the bottom of this whole thing, and I will prove to you that I didn't cheat on you willingly."
"You were drunk, Alex! No man in their right mind would cheat on their wives or husbands willingly," she scoffed.
"And I'm telling you that I didn't drink a lot that night for it to get me drunk. Why would I sleep with some stranger when I have you? I love you, Katerina, and I will prove it to you that I didn't cheat on you." With that, I had left the house since I'd been staying at David's place since the cheating incident happened.
I was both pissed and relieved when I found out that I had, in fact, been drugged that night by the woman I woke up next to the following morning. Her name turned out to be Valero Rivers, and she had a penchant for seducing and robbing rich men and women. According to the PI and police, she was furious when I kept turning her down as she flirted with me. Even the bartender had watched the exchange between her and me and had tried to get her to give up since he knew me. She had taken her chance when I became distracted by some guy I'd never seen, who turned out to be her accomplice while she put some type of drug in my beer without the bartender or I noticing.
