Love and Hurt in Mines
King Caspian’s Pov
My face wore a frown, so did my lips which tilted in support. I stood up in haste, from my chair, wearing my royal robe.
“Going somewhere already? I just got here. That is absolutely no way to welcome your little brother,” he added his words.
“I do not have time for your small talks, Alcander. I need to be somewhere.”
“More.Important.” I gritted out, in addition.
My mate.
She said I hurt her all the time. It made me wonder since when?
How long had I been hurting her? How long had she been bottling it up? Didn’t I tell her of her worth to me? All this power…it didn’t matter. I could risk it all for her.
“I came from afar, you know. With a royal entourage, from my Kingdom. I won’t have you walking out on me.” Alcander said, with his hands taking a hold of my shoulders. That made me halt in my spot.
My nose flared, and my beast surfaced, giving him a flaming glare. “This is crossing the limits! How dare you stop my movement?”
My hands moved to hit his face, with my fist but he dodged it with a smirk on his face. He gripped my inner white shirt. Knowing his intentions, I moved to use my speed but it was too late.
He already transported us to another place entirely.
It was an ability he stole, by wearing a bangle of a powerful god and eliminating him afterwards with a bit of trickery. Alcander had always been like a fox, cunny; a deceiver.
“Now what?”
He said, standing tall at me in distance. From the fierce landing, I had rolled on the sand, with it coating over my body. A typical human would probably have passed out.
But a beast could surely withstand…
“I should be making that statement, Alcander.” I said in a bored tone. “You brought me here, remember? And of all places? The road to the Mines? Better be not what I think.”
I dusted the amount of sand I could, positioning my robe correctly and coughing out from the specks in the air.
“Not what you think? What do you think, I’m here for her, again? With you? It was because you went all animalistic on me.” he stated. “And this was the first place I could think of.”
Lies, lies.
We both knew but I decided not to press it on anyway.
“You stopped me from seeing someone I intended to. Someone special to me, which you had no right to!” I answered with an angry growl, with the thoughts of Ava.
I had been so much of an ass to her for so long. I wonder what she thought of me, as I hurt her.
“Oh brother, I know you. What’s more important than the throne you’ve slaved to build for centuries? Or the legacy?”
He also enclosed his step, saying. “General Caspian, Royal Adviser Caspian, King Caspian. This is not you,” he commented, stating all of the ranks I’ve been in my years of living.
“You know nothing!” I roared, connecting my fists with his jaw.
“Know nothing? Of course, I do. I’m your brother remember?” he spat out. “I know everything about you. Your scars, your personality and your nature. The main reason you chose to scorn and banish me from your Kingdom—”
“Shut up!!” My beast took over instantly, hitting his face numerous times. Continuously, remembering everything. The pain, the ostracization, that I had to face.
The nosy villagers…
His deceits and lies.
Father’s blindness that he was the worthy child. His inability to see that he was extremely cunning and conniving.
“I will never shut up, big brother! Never! Cause I didn’t deserve that treatment! I didn’t ask for it! That old hag saw me that way!” His words contained bitterness. So did his eyes, which were just the color as mum’s – silver grey with some warm energy in them.
Like sort of a confession. “I didn’t even try! I showed the real me, but he only painted what he wanted in his head!”
His words, made me halt my fists.
By now, steaks of blood had splattered from his mouth to the dry sand.
I wondered if I made a mistake for banishing him. All that anger, that resentment that I held while growing up… I passed some of it on him.
Hated him, day after day.
Made sure the history of his existence was cleared. I made him forgotten, with no one remembering him.
Why…just why?
Why did he never tell me this? Why did he accept his fate? While I hated him, why…
“Boys?”
Someone called out. I rolled my weight over him. The minute I did, he teleported a bit farther from me.
“What are you doing here, you two?”
It was Nynaeve.
Alcander straightened on his spot instantly, dressing his black long coat, well and cleaning his mouth. I used my beast speed to go to him. With my hands resting on his shoulders. “Please forgive me, brother. I had no idea you were you.” I muttered.
“That you didn’t mean that amount of hurt.”
“We’ll talk about it later. Act normal in front of her,” he whispered. I chuckled a bit, at the adorability. Though saddened from the hurt.
But he told me to pretend, didn’t he?
Reason was he had a thing for Nynaeve, but her clan didn’t mix with humans.
Foxy humans to be precise.
“Nynaeve! What a magnificent surprise! Can say this is fate,” he exclaimed, running to her like some love-stricken puppy. He ran to hug her, and my hands connected to my forehead, knowing what came next.
“Distance, please.” Nynaeve stated, with some greenish substance springing from her hands. This wasn’t the first time she used a spell on him. He was too persistent, to be her lover in the past.
My eyes widened, when his black garment fell to the floor. A little frog with some bangle around its hands, emerged from it.
CROAK! CROAK!
I immediately began laughing when she picked Alcander in her hands, giving him a pat on the head while he tried to talk.
“Do you find this amusing, My King?” she instantly said.
I remembered Alcander’s words. Pretend he said!
Thus, I moved towards her. “Yes, but you might as well consider turning him back. He brought me down here with that evil bangle of his,”
My hands pointed to it, on his wrists.
“As you wish, Your Highness,” Nynaeve stated, throwing him on the floor and muttering some unbinding spell in another language.
Now Nynaeve respected all Kings. But my little brother got there, illegitimately that was the reason for this treatment.
Alcander fully appeared seconds later, but he was horrifically naked as expected.
He moved instantly to get his black garment, only to widen his eyes at us both. Nynaeve had burnt it mistakenly, in an attempt to turn him back, with a heated spell (a spell that heatens objects around it).
“I still love you, Nynaeve!”
He let out, with his hands girthing his manhood as he moved towards me. Nynaeve moved, lifting her load, to carry on with her journey to the Mines.
“Give up, Alcander! You’re not my kind of man. You’re more like a brother!” she exclaimed.
“Well I won’t! I’ve chased you for centuries and won’t back off easily. One day, you’ll fall in love with me!”
I threw my royal robe at him, for him to cover up which he did. “Rule number one of chasing a woman, Alcander.”
“Be fully dressed.” I added, even if his face was in a frown from being rejected again.
The last time I treated him as a brother, we were young. Before any of the drama happened.
“And who are you to teach me with your limited experience in love?”
He took my hands, saying, as we transported back to my Kingdom. It wasn’t accurate though, because we landed at Master Zu’s arena.
My limited experience?
He wasn’t wrong to think of it that way. Since my beast got out of hand, I stayed away from women.
This was why even with mum’s drugging, the only mistake my beast did was turning those girls. Not sleeping with any of them…
“You won’t know of stuff like this…” he said, pouring some hot tea for himself, and sipping some of it. Master Zu was so going to deal with him, when he showed up…
“I have a mate.”
He spilled out some contents in reaction at my words.
