21. Jealousy
Mayfair, London.
SEBASTIAN WAS UP ALL NIGHT till the wee hours of the morning, which meant that by twelve the next day he was still sprawled out on his bed sleeping. But Cole didn't know that. He stood by the door staring at what a mess his friend was.
Sebastian was still dressed in last night's clothes.
Because Cole was a childhood friend of Sebastian, it meant he could just walk in anytime, anywhere to see Sebastian as long as he was around. Which explains why he was leaning on the door to Sebastian's bedchamber, staring at him with deep eyes. A frown marring his face. His lips curled up coldly. Sebastian was sleeping when they were supposed to be having a very important meeting.
Cole stepped inside the bedchamber his long legs propelling him until he was at the foot of the bed he squatted down and picked up the bottle lying on the ground he raised it and stared at it before he stood up and glared at Sebastian. that bastard has gone and gotten himself foxed when he knew they were supposed to be meeting.
Cole gripped the bottle tightly, his fingers crushing it before he walked over and let it drop on the small round table. He turned and stared at his friend. For a fleet second, he wondered why Sebastian had gotten foxed last night. he needn't be told that this was unlike his friend. With that thought in his head, he strode back to the bed, his expression taut.
He bent waist down and turned Sebastian over so he lay face up.
He looked like hell.
Cole narrowed his eyes and placed his right knee on the bed, his left leg standing straight on the ground then with one hand pulled at Sebastian's foot.
Sebastian turned and snapped his eyes open when he saw Cole standing over him, his hands folded over his chest. Sebastian frowned. His head ached, and it was damned hard to stare up at Cole. He lowered his head, his head hanging down and stared at Cole's waistcoat, his brown hair falling over his face. "By Jove. Cole? what are you doing here," he mumbled?
Cole raised a brow. Very interesting, he thought. Then he glared at Sebastian. "You look like hell."
Sebastian sighed scratching his head "I thought so."
Cole opened his mouth. He wanted to ask what had happened but then he clamped it shut. Sebastian was no longer in leading strings. he should know how to take care of his affairs. Cole sighed. "Make your self presentable and meet me in the study."
As soon as Sebastian stood up he ordered for water to be drawn up and in less than 20 minutes he was already dressed. Climbing downstairs to the study where Cole was waiting for him.
Sebastian strode magnificently into the study. His long legs carrying him to the powerful chair that rested behind his desk, he sat down and his eyes narrowed into a glare. "What was it that was so urgent that you had to wake me up."
Cole raised a brow, chuckled and leaned back in his seat. His long legs spread out. "You have forgotten that we ought to talk about the new set of horses I acquired, of which you have a mind to buy one."
On hearing that, Sebastian groaned. How had he forgotten? Last night he had entered this study, his intentions were just to drink one glass but before he knew it he was drinking down the whole bottle, still it wasn't even enough to quench the fire that was coursing through his blood. Bloody hell! it was all Julia's fault now he couldn't wash the taste of her out. All he had wanted was to just bring her and lay feast on her. The sight of her pretty breast, such lushness, is forever engraved in his mind.
Sebastian clenched his hands and cursed quietly under his breath as he felt himself slowly getting aroused again. This was madness! he needed to find a new Mistress. it's been so long since he separated with his mistress, it's about time he found one again.
Unbeknownst to Sebastian. Cole sat back and watched Sebastian, his mouth hanging open. So all this while he had been talking to himself. he had been raving on and on about his new horses and all these while Sebastian had been woolgathering! He eyed his friend, something was surely amiss but Sebastian wasn't telling soon. Taking in a deep breath he decided to let today's meeting slide after all Sebastian wasn't quite in his senses, after being foxed he needed something that wasn't business.
Cole racked his brain for some discussion he could launch when he suddenly remembered that it's been a while since he last saw Julia. Surprisingly enough she differed greatly from what he expected and he liked that. The last time they had met he had really enjoyed her company and he couldn't even remember the last time such a thing happened. Him discussing with a female? not that it was unheard of rather, it was just rare. He was getting used to her company.
Still relaxing on the chair, his legs spread out. Cole opened his mouth. "By and by, have Julia visited here?
It was just an innocent question, but Sebastian reacted In a way that wasn't so innocent at all.
Sebastian slowly raised his head on hearing that. he narrowed his eyes and glared at his friend. His eyes just like the bottom of a sea at night. "Why do you ask?" He slowly bit out.
Cole raised a brow and eyed his friend. for someone else, Sebastian's reply might have sounded cold, but to him, it was sounded strange. He eyed his friend again, then his eyes rested on Sebastian's hand clenched tightly. Cole shrugged and smiled, his expression transforming into a boyish grin. "My, but it's been long since I last saw her and I merely asked because I enjoy the pleasure of her company."
Sebastian's eyes narrowed more. If such a thing was even possible then he bit out slowly. "You have been seeing Julia aside from the time you met her here?" Anyone who heard him would have known that there was anger laced behind those words. But for some strange reasons, Cole didn't know.
Cole didn't know how to answer. Sebastian's lips were slowly curling up and spreading into a disapproving frown and he seems to ground his teeth.
Cole chastised himself inwardly. it must be his imagination. There was no way Sebastian would be... no, it was not possible. So he didn't care about what came out of his mouth when he opened it and said. "Why you didn't know? I have seen Julia quite a lot after we were acquainted."
Sebastian bit out only one word. "Where?"
Cole frowned before he said, "Hyde park. "
"Hyde park." Sebastian slowly repeated before he stood up and walked out.
Cole stared. What had he said? that will warrant Sebastian to just up and leave. Cole sighed, Sebastian clearly was in a bad mood.
That same night in his bed-chamber. Cole laid down on his bed thinking, his two hands folded under his head.
He couldn't sleep. Sleep seems to have eluded him. Why was Sebastian acting the way he was acting? Could it be that Sebastian liked Julia? was he jealous?
Cole sat up, but why should he be jealous? was it that serious?
All these questions and no answer. Cole sighed. If he wanted any of his questions answered then he would have to get it from Sebastian, even if it meant to irritate him. if Sebastian was jealous, then he would have to create a situation where he could find out.
After a while, Cole smiled as he remembered how Sebastian's face had been today. if what he was thinking was true, then Sebastian was in trouble. Ah, but he couldn't wait. bloody hell.
Tomorrow he will find out.
