Chapter Six
**Sloan**
"*Where are you going, Angel?*" Sloan thought as his eyes followed the girl as she made her way through the crowd.
“See something you like?” Tristan joked as he too noticed the girl, especially his brother’s attention on the vanishing girl.
“Maybe...” Sloan muttered, taking the last sip of his scotch. “Declan... Dec?”
However, his friend stood mesmerized by the little Angel’s friend, who was still dancing on the platform. She was giving the crowd something to look at, particularly something to jerk off to later.
Sloan has never seen Declan so taken in by a woman, especially a human.
“Go for it...” Tristan encouraged as he slapped both Declan and Sloan o their shoulders. “Both of you.”
Sloan laughed at his brother’s slightly inebriated behaviour. However, he felt a brief, sharp pain in his chest and his wolf growled a warning of danger. Suddenly, a vision of someone running flashed across his eyes. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion when an angelic voice cried out in his head.
"*Oh God!*"
“Angel?” Sloan can sense and feel her fear. Strangely and very briefly, he saw through her eyes. She was running in a forested area away from something. Through their connection, he heard barks and growls around her. His wolf howled as he became overly affected by the sense of danger.
“Declan, stay here... keep an eye on that girl. Tristan with me, NOW!” Sloan ordered as he switched to his Alpha persona.
Though Sloan’s natural instincts were to jump over the balcony to the main dancefloor, he sensed using the stairs would be a better option. They ran down the steps, and the crowd seemed to make a pathway for them.
“Billy? Tiny girl in a white dress, where did she go?”
“White dress?”
“She just left the club.”
“Who, Mouse? But she was wearing pink. I think she went for a breather, around the corner.” The bouncer pointed, and Sloan ran off in the direction indicated to him. He rounded the corner, and it was empty of any type of creature - human, shifter or pest. He switched to his night vision which caused his grey eyes to flash white.
“Bro, what’s wrong?”
“Rogues,” Sloan growled.
“Shit!”
A couple of feet into the alleyway on the ground, they found her dress, shoes and cell phone. Sloan picked up the dress and deeply inhaled her scent. His eyes almost glowed as her scent flooded his system. He passed the dress to Tristan, who also inhaled her scent.
“Billy, gather all the clothing and call for the Pack for back up... as well as the Pack doctor,” Sloan ordered as he shifted. His wolf form was larger than the average wolf Shifters. His fur was midnight black, and his eyes were pearly white. He took off down the alley into the wooded area on the other side.
Tristan shifted too and followed his brother. He was smaller than Sloan, and his fur was tri-coloured - grey, white and hints of brown. His eyes were hazel.
The girl’s scent was stronger in his wolf form and quite intoxicating, both in a sexual and non-sexual way. Another vision flashed across his eyes; he opened his mind to share what he saw with Tristan. She was being tackled to the ground by a dark form. She rolled about, struggling to get her footing. However, the dark form bit down on her right leg, causing her to yelp in pain.
Both Sloan and Tristan growled at the scene playing in their minds.
"*Hold on, little one. I’m coming.*"
As the scene continued, the dark form released her leg and swiftly slashed at her face, breaking the connection. In frustration, both Sloan and his brother howled; however, Sloan felt an increasing level of pain in his chest, causing his paws to dig deeper into the ground as he followed her scent. He heard the answering call of other pack members, signally they were near and coming to his aid.
"*Please, don’t die.*" He thought.
Her scent started to get muddled with other scents he couldn’t recognize. He slid to a stop and listened to all the different sounds in the woods. Very faintly, he heard the slow beating of a heart which echoed softly amongst the other ambient sounds.
His head snapped to the left when he heard an animal cry out in pain, followed by louder, angrier growls of several different creatures. He howled again and took off to the left. He tracked the beating heart, but it got fainter. Fortunately, the laboured whines and pants accompanied the fading heartbeat.
The backup pack members have caught up to them and were running behind him.
"*Steven, take your group to the left; Leanne, your group to the right. Tristan, hang back with your group, just in case they double back. The rest of you and doctor with me.*" Sloan commanded as the different groups broke off, and a couple kept following Sloan.
They got to a clearing in the woods, bathed in the moonlight was a lone animal lying on the ground. The metallic scent of blood saturated the surrounding area and his senses as he got nearer to the injured creature.
"*She’s a cute little vixen.*"
He nudged her with his nose, sniffing her. There were four long claw marks along the left side of her face and deep bite marks on her right hind legs. She was lying in a pool of blood, and Sloan suspected that she had more unseen injuries. He listened to her laboured breathing and slow heartbeats.
"*Tristan, we found her... Steven, Leanne, the rogues got away. I believe they are heading northward.*"
"*We’re on it, Alpha.*" Both of them responded.
A bag dropped heavily next to him, and a woman bent over the small vixen. Another member shifted and dug out a pair of trousers for Sloan.
“We need to get her to the hospital... but she needs to shift back.” The doctor commented as Sloan shifter and pulled on the loose pair of trousers. He knelt next to her and gently rubbed her head.
“Angel, I know you are exhausted and want to rest, but for us to assist you... you need to shift to your human form so the doctor can help you,” Sloan whispered softly. Her right eye opened weakly, and she whined weakly, rubbing her head into his palm.
The doctor threw a blanket over her. She growled, groaned and then screamed in pain as her body shifted from her small animal form to her human self.
Sloan felt her pain and his wolf howled in agony. The claw marks on her face started to bleed, and blood gathered on her side, soaking through the blanket on her side.
The doctor held up the blanket to further examine and inspect her injuries.
“As expected, there are more bruises, possibly a couple of broken or fractured ribs as well as a deep gash on her side...” She held up the girl’s right hand and scrutinized it. “A broken wrist as well. We need to get her to the clinic, or else she will bleed out.”
“Okay... sedate her so we can move... she can’t die, you hear me.”
The doctor nodded and pulled out a needle.
“Sweet dreams, little one,” Sloan whispered as the doctor injected her.
