Chapter 12
Vincenzo storms out of his father's house, gets into the car brought by the driver, and heads out in search of Luna. On the way, he receives a call from Amália, who is frantic over Luna's abduction.
"Hello Vincenzo, something happened," she says, starting to cry.
"Calm down, Amália. I already know everything. I need you to stay calm and tell me if you saw the car's license plate or who the men were that took Luna," he tries to calm her.
"It all happened so fast, but I remember the car was from your father's company, and there was a blonde guy who looked like a German," she says, shaken.
"Stay calm. That's enough. I'll find her. I'll ask Matteo to pick you up and take you somewhere else. Once I find Luna, I'll bring her to you. I need to hang up."
"Don't forget to send me updates, my son, please," Amália says.
"Don't worry, I'll send updates."
After ending the call with Amália, Vincenzo calls Matteo and asks him to search everywhere possible for Luna's whereabouts. His desperation to find her overwhelms him, and the fear that something bad might have happened to her leaves him completely out of control.
----------------------
While Vincenzo does everything he can to find Luna, she is in a state of terror in captivity, suffering all possible psychological horrors.
"What do you want from me?" she asks while crying in fear.
"Look at her cry. Save your tears, princess. You’re going to experience many things you won't like," Nate says.
"Please let me go. I won’t tell anyone, I promise."
"No one can escape Don Carlo. You should know that. I can’t let you go, and besides, I don’t want to. He said we could have fun with you however we wanted. Once he gives the order, we'll start."
"Why is he doing this? I have nothing to do with the deal he had with my father. "Vincent promised he would leave me alone and safe," she cries.
"He will never go against his father for a little woman like you. I’ll show you. You must be thirsty. I’ll help you drink some water," he says, starting to get irritated.
Nate grabs a pitcher of water and makes Luna drink it all. Despite her choking, he insists she drinks it all. She begins to gag, and he puts one hand over her nose and closes it, making her lose her breath for a few minutes as he watches her struggle, then stops.
"You were very thirsty, weren’t you, you bitch?" he says, pulling her by the hair.
"I beg you, please let me go," she cries.
"Are you still talking? I’m going to make you stay quiet. Bring the lighter," he demands.
"Don’t do this, please. I’ll stay quiet, I promise," she desperately pleads.
"Bring it here now," he yells.
Nate gets the lighter and lights it on Luna’s fingers. Her screams of despair and pain increase progressively as she begs him to stop. Nate’s eyes are filled with hatred; he has always done whatever Don Carlo asked and never spared effort when it came to torturing someone. He does not pity anyone and is a faithful dog, ready to attack. Luna’s screams of pain are so intense that she faints from the pain.
"That dog of your father, Lorenzo Martinez, was always a miserable man who thought he could ruin our family. And now you will pay for him and your brother Davis," Nate says while kicking Luna’s body.
"Please stop, let me go. Help!" she cries desperately.
"No one will hear you," he says, continuing to kick her.
As the scenes of torture continue, Vincenzo is still trying to find Luna. His desperation leads him to call Lorenzo Martinez, Luna’s father, to see if anyone has contacted him, threatening him to hand her over.
"Lorenzo?" Vincenzo starts.
"Vincenzo? What happened to my daughter? Where did you take her? I’ve been searching for days," Lorenzo says, worried.
"Enough! I called to see if any of my father’s men had contacted you. My father captured Luna, and I’m looking for her. I thought you might have a clue," he says, frustrated.
"I’ll end you if anything happens to my daughter. She has absolutely nothing to do with what I did. She is the most innocent in all of this. Furthermore, she means everything to me," he cries.
"I won’t let anything happen to her. I promised her that. Besides, she already knows who you are. The farther you stay from her, the better for her. She is different from you and that scum, Davis."
"I don’t know what you want with my daughter, but I’ll do everything to bring her back home. I’ll take her out of your hands, and you can be sure I’d do anything for my daughter."
"She will never forgive you. Understand that. Now I have to hang up. I don’t have time."
As soon as he hangs up, Vincenzo receives a message from Martinez with a possible location for Luna. He speeds up the car to get to the location, with fear taking over him, causing him to accelerate even more.
----------------------
Vincenzo arrives at one of his father’s warehouses. He parks the car a bit away, opens the trunk, and takes out two pistols with silencers. He walks to the back of the warehouse and, looking through the broken glass window, sees Luna lying on a mattress. Her shirt is torn, and Nate is trying to open her pants. Consumed by rage, Vincenzo rushes into the building.
"Get away from her!" he shouts, firing a shot into the air.
"Mr. Vincenzo, what are you doing here?" Nate says, startled and backing away from Luna.
"Are you okay?" Vincenzo asks, placing his hands on her face.
Luna is in shock from the trauma. Nate was about to assault her. When Vincenzo sees the torture she endured—her burned fingers and bruises—he goes after Nate.
"Who gave you the right to touch her, you worm? Who do you think you are?" he says, hitting Nate with the gun.
"Sir, I only did what your father asked me to. I had no idea you didn’t know," Nate tries to justify himself.
"Don’t you dare lie to me. Amália tried to tell you, and you didn’t want to listen."
"Forgive me, Vincenzo. I thought she was just making a scene."
"A scene? Amália would never do that. And by the way, you should call me Mr. Vincenzo."
Vincenzo continues to hit Nate. His rage is evident when it comes to Luna. He loses all control, beating him harder and with more fury until he pulls out his gun and places it on Nate’s head.
"This is where you start begging for your life," Vincenzo says.
"I swear, if I had known, I wouldn’t have done anything to her. I was just following orders. Don’t kill me, please," Nate pleads.
Suddenly, Vincenzo hears a scream. Luna has woken up and is begging him not to do this. She is terrified of seeing Nate’s face covered in blood and unrecognizable.
"Please don’t do this," Luna says.
"Look at what he did to you," Vincenzo says.
"Please don’t do this. I just want to go home, please," Luna says, clutching her stomach in pain.
"Thank her because you owe your life to her," Vincenzo says as he puts his gun away.
Vincenzo picks Luna up and carries her to the car. He lays her down in the back seat and drives to a new secret location so that his father won’t find Luna again.
