CHAPTER 39
1 year later
After the whole fiasco of Valace Strom ended the Waylons came to the light of the world.
Earlier the man who was declared dead by the whole world announced himself to not only be healthy and prosperous but also in a better shape and high power. Watching him smile with mirth dancing in his eyes was something nobody could ever dream of.
But there he was...Leonard Waylon with his arms around the petite waist of his wife Lilliana, meeting and mingling with new people as they threw a lavish party with such an extravagancy that it could bring shame to the monarchs and their queens.
But they had every reason to, not only their son had his deep dark roots beyond the eyes of the commoners but also build a successful business company as a cover converting all black money to legal resources.
With such power it was ironic that he had become much powerful than the president itself and the government ought to know but they had his support in much more ways than just his money so how come they would be able to offend him? It was impossible to make enemies with him and still carry on the large nation.
Either it was with him or behind him there was no ahead...there never existed such thing.
And as if this wasn't enough the man had the Russian princess as his girlfriend.
People were afraid, the Mafian empires felt agitated with his iron fist and his woman who ruled with the brain that would put their brilliant startegists to shame but they waited patiently, praying to god every single day that they seperated because none had the courage to offended since Ajax had passed a decree.
No matter who it was, even if his Queen would to be looked at the wrong way he would gauge their eyes out and slaughter their whole clan bestowing death and torment to each and every member leaving none.
He had offered truce, with gifts more precious than any of them could even afford to see. But those were not mere objects but a significance.
He would help in their time of need and in return they had to be loyal or accept direct war against him. They could choose any of it but they were to remain under his wings.
The insignia of falcon representing his mighty empire had now his sharp eyes everywhere and none were to escape his gaze.
But alas beside every utopian vision there lies reality. There were two attempts of assassination and maybe....maybe it was those which made people really stop and be wary.
The century old Mafia families were gone in a blink the next day, it was as if they never existed, never were there. their houses vandalized. Women and children were not even spared, all killed in cold blood.
But the truth was that they were thrown to remote areas of the villages to fend for themselves, they had never expected such kindness with the Devil himself and sweared their loyalty to him.
Maybe it was a simple house with no luxury, life was hard but having a peaceful life was what they never expected to be bestowed with. Their husbands have sold the enemies women to low level brothels so this was kind beyond comprehension.
But those were the things for only Ajax to know, others must fear his wrath and bow down. If he obtained all that by maintaining a facade of cruelty he would do it in a heartbeat.
Cally watched the people in the party sitting at the side, while people beside her chatter animatedly.
After Valace Strom was send to prison and the hurricane settled down Cally's eyes fell on the forest green of Ajax who was consoling his girl after the horrific war.
She had felt ashamed for assuming things about Alaina but now the jealousy she felt was almost ironic. She had once insulted Ajax on how ugly he was when he was in disguise as Ace.
The way karma works...the same man was now someone she could not even touch the shadow of.
In all the sense of the world he was way beyond anything... ethereal and majestic. She looked at Ryan who was beaming with happiness and dry chuckled pitying herself.
She never loved him, not even felt that spark but was attracted to his charm, alas he was still as handsome but his heart never lied with her and even if it did, Cally couldn't say that he was the most beautiful person she has seen, not anymore....Ajax was.
But even though she was a bitch, she knew her limits. Ajax loved Alaina like she was his world and Cally didn't had in her to destroy their relationship. She had made her bed made of thorns and now she had to lie on it.
Alaina could be anything but she had loved Ajax selflessly, feeling for him without seeing how he looked, she loved her savior and if he looked like that...the girl accepted it with joy and now how the universe had rewarded her for her pure heart....with a King, a person whom Cally couldn't even dream of having, so out of the reach of the likes of her and other women..he was solely hers.
It had been an year since everything and as soon as Alaina entered the Waylons domain...she had experienced paradise.
With a man who loved her beyond words could decipher, his family too doted on her.
Her words were law and people would not dare defy her. Even Dia Ajax's sister who wasn't too fond of Calliope bestowed Alaina with things rare and far beyond a common man's reach. She had Alaina placed on a pedestal in her heart and would grow raged if anybody tried to even back talk her.
Dia was quite unpredictable, wild and someone who couldn't be tamed but Alaina was someone she showered with love believing that the girl was their lucky charm and had brought nothing but happiness in their home.
Alaina even had her private quarters in their palace. Only Cally visited Liliana and found her to be graceful, polite and very kind to her but she soon realized that with Alaina she too was different.
Liliana opened up to her, talked to Alaina for hours and hours. She wanted Alaina to be her daughter in law as soon as possible. Maximus and Sandra Strom couldn't complain either, they were pretty satisfied with the love and support their daughter was showered with and were sure that Ajax would take care of her.
He always did.
And Ajax despite being an arrogant man full of pride and virtue treated Alaina's family as his own.
Not too loud neither too demanding he was like the calm sea that accepted their affections with utmost care and returned it with his warmth.
He was patient while everything, respecting them and listening to their thoughts and concerns about Alaina. He was never haughty trying to subdue them but understood that this was now his family too.
********
Hundreds of people were talking softly in groups. Couples belonging to various high-class Noble families had their time of life while mingling and having the most expensive of wines available in almost all colours.
Golden crystal chandeliers handing from the ceiling covered the hall in a homey atmosphere while the humongous pillars sprouted fiery red tulips covering the adjacent walls in a pattern of falcon.
Among all the luxurious of the world was Nixon, a boy from Axiom academy right beside his father who was the business man from Brazil itself.
He found almost everything to be boring or rather not worthy of his precious time and couldn't understand why his father had decided to drag him here.
What was so special about this party? Yes it was much more packed and had imperial vibes but then again everyday somewhere or the other such party do happen so even if they were rich beyond comparison how did it effected him?
The answer was not at all.
His twirled the small glass of tequila, having it in one go as his father left his side for a minute for greeting an old friend.
Maybe he could leave before him.
He was about to go when he saw Alaina walking down the stairs, her beautiful swan fingers prettily wrapped around the large calloused hand of a man.
They walked in rythum as if a symphony was being created. The women eyes Alaina with jealousy while the men like Nixon eyed Ajax with envious eyes.
They sure looked like a match made in heaven but how come Alaina was here in Brazil? And that even with this godly specimen.
And hence a decision was taken, Nixon would wait till the time he could exchange some words with Alaina. She was so beautiful and he was none the less the son of such a big business man, it was certain that she wouldn't refuse to atleast befriend him if she refused his advances.
The man had waited three hours and only now he could get a single word out of his system. He was right to wait, the man beside Alaina had followed the girl like her shadow not even giving him or the likes of him a single opportunity.
But his chance came when she went out of the party towards the green patch of the mansion.
There she was right at the garden, sitting beside the fountain sprouting crystal clear water like diamonds falling down in glimmering beads encrusted in silver threads, watching the full moon glowing upon her heavenly face illuminated with the low light, her pouty red lips displaying a soft smiled as she brushed the golden locks on her face aside by her dainty fingers.
Her swan neck was in full view as the blue gown gave her the appearance of a fairy.
"Alaina?"
And just like that her smile turned to vanish as if it was never there.
"Hello, how may I help you?"
"Hello sweetheart, this is Nixon if you remember, we were together in our chemistry class."
"Oh!" her eyes shown in recognition.
"It's nice to see you Nixon, this is so far from home, what are you doing here?"
To be honest Alaina was waiting for Ajax to come to her but now that she had seen a familiar face it was rude to just brush him off, besides she would just talk for a minute before going inside.
They weren't friends, just acquaintances whom she saw sometimes in class so there was no need to be over friendly.
"Well my father is a bigshot here, so we got an invitation. But I was rather surprised to see you here..." he left unsurely.
"Well my boyfriend lives here."Alaina didn't specified more than necessary, the less they know about her Ajax the better.
"Your boyfriend?!" Nixon's eye budged, he wasn't blind and did saw her walking with that man but never in his dream he thought that Alaina had a boyfriend this mysterious and enigmatic whom nobody even knows the name of.
"There were men in Russia too...." He replied frustrated.
"You don't see the way I do it Alaina, we might not be the best of friends but I have known you all my childhood, listen to me. My father has told me this man is not what he appears to be. He is evil.
Haven't you seen his wealth, such men would never be loyal to you or another. Why do you want to settle for less when you can-"
"When what? When I can have a man like you?" Alaina laughed darkly, her melodious voice bringing the surroundings alive as if thousands of fireflies lightning the atmosphere.
"Oh you poor boy, I love him being evil...don't you see the way I surround him...he is mine, everything about him is something I love beyond comparison.
His loyalty....his virtue is something much more complex and sincere than what you can fanthom.
If you continue talking like that about him, you will soon see a new face of evil."
She smiled innocently like if she hadn't threatened him with his life right now.
"Have you ever seen a wolf?" She asked tilting her head, the Strom in her beautiful eyes making a chill run down her spine.
"W-what do you mean?"
"I asked have you ever seen a wolf...an alpha male? That creature of night smells threat from miles away and is known to be merciless and cruel once ...even only once he smell another pathetic wolf trying to snatch away his mate he becomes beyond reasoning. He hides in shadows with his fangs out getting ready to sink his canines and rip his enemy's throat."
Nixon was flabbergasted, his voice struck inside his throat not able to answer her.
"Do you think I am alone right here
... right now? Can't you sense him, his strong presence right behind you, watching your every move?"
Large beads of sweat covered his forehead, afraid of one wrong move Nixon dare not even breathe, his body freezing with fear.
"Go away little boy, go home, don't let the devil catch you.... because once he gets his claws on you, I would not be able to help your cause."
Before Nixon could run an arm wrapped around his throat pulling out the life inside him.
"You dare flirt with my girl, feeding her lies." Ajax roared in fury.
"Jax let him go." Alaina didn't knew why Ajax was wasting his time on a pesky fellow, Nixon was no threat at all so it was better to just let him go.
Nixon's face was turning blue as he clawed at the hands wrapped around him struggling furiously as Ajax dropped him panting on the ground.
Alaina took Ajax's hand pulling him towards the opposite side of the manor, deep in the garden covered with Jasmine and Juliet roses turning behind for a second to see the boy gone.
The girl sighed.
What an eventful day.
