Bloodlust

"His name is John Sherman. He dated Céline back in high school and they broke up when she had to leave for college." Lucas read from the file in his hands.

They were in Damien's office going through reports they were able to get their hands on about Céline's caller.

"It says here, he was admitted for psychiatric care but vanished with no trace months ago." Damien said pacing the office.

They were dealing with a psychopath here and it made the hairs at the back of Damien's neck stand erect. Céline must have been so scared, that was why she accepted to do it.

"Don't worry bro, we'll catch him. Brian has contacted the best hands in the police department. The best private investigators are searching for him as we speak. We will get him in no time." Lucas said trying to console his friend.

They had been on the search for days now and he could tell Damien was growing impatient. He would be in the same condition if someone ever threatened to sleep with the woman he loved.

Damien walked to the side which he had designed for Céline and traced his fingers along the surface. "I really messed up Lucas..."

"Yup, you did."

Damien glared at his friend. "That is not a way to try and cheer me up, you know?"

Lucas shrugged and continued reading through the files. "You are a grown man. I don't need to waste sappy words on you."

Damien shook his head and continued pacing. His phone suddenly rang out.

"Yes," he answered.

"I have the address," Brian said through the phone.

It took some extreme display of power but Damien was able to finally get his hands on the information he needed to catch John and put him behind bars, far away from Céline. After all the pain he had caused her, this was the least he could do for her.

"What did he say?" Lucas mouthed.

Damien raised his hand, signaling to him to hold on, so he could hear what else Brian had to say.

"Let's meet at the police precinct. I have informed the commissioner and he is preparing for a raid," Brian said before the line went dead.

"We have the address. Brian said we should meet at the precinct." He scurried to his chair and took his coat from the table.

Lucas was already by the door. The both of them rushed as fast as they could to the elevator. The sooner they got to the precinct, the sooner this John was handled and his Céline could finally be safe.

Damien's phone rang out again. He picked it straight up thinking it was Brian calling to give him more information.

"Anything else?"

"Damien Culhane, where the fuck are you?" Charles stern voice came sharply through the phone. It was so loud that Lucas didn't need to ask. He knew straight away that it was Charles calling and he wasn't happy they left him out of the whole ordeal.

"Charles, I- I was going to call you-"

"When? You were going to call me when? When your marriage was finally destroyed? What is wrong with you, Damien!"

Damien kissed his teeth in frustration. "We are assembling at the precinct in ten minutes, meet me there and I promise to explain everything."

"Fine." Charles snapped, ending the call.

"I told you we should call him..." Lucas commented as they strapped themselves in the car.

Damien face palmed himself. "Look, just get us there in one piece. I'll handle Charles."

Lucas started the car and they zoomed off to the precinct not saying another word.

Damien should have told Charles about the whole ordeal. But each time the idea came to his mind, he called it off. He didn't want to tell him just yet, because he didn't want his friend to be disappointed in him. He knew he made a mistake by misjudging Céline and he didn't want more people reminding him of it.

Their car was soon parking in front of the precinct where armed vehicles lined the front entrance, with men moving around loading it with different weapons. One would think they were going to arrest a group of terrorists.

"Go find Brian, I want to make a quick call to Olivia..."

Olivia? —Damien wanted to ask him about it but he knew this was not even the right place to have that sort of discussion. Instead, he gave Lucas a quick nod and went out to look for Brian.

"Damien!" Brian called as soon as he stepped into the reception of the precinct.

He looked far ahead and saw Brian walking with an aged man to one of the vehicles.

"Mr Culhane, we are so glad to be of service to you and your wife." The aged man said, stretching his hands forward for a shake.

Damien saw that his face was familiar but couldn't quite place it but nevertheless he accepted the hand shake.

"This is the captain of this precinct, Connor Benson, the commissioner recommended him." Brian introduced them.

Now Damien could place where he had seen the man. He was on the television a couple of times, talking about some serial killer that targeted pregnant women.

"Thank you." Damien stated, giving the man a firm shake.

"Here, you should wear these. Things could get dangerous out there." He gave Damien a bulletproof vest.

"You and your friends can ride in this vehicle. I will be at the front of the convoy." He tapped the vehicle in question and gave them a tight lipped smile before turning to go mount his own vehicle.

Damien secured the vest around his chest and got into the vehicle, Brian following behind him.

"I feel like a commando in this thing!" Lucas exclaimed as he got into the passenger's seat of the pick up vehicle.

"Good afternoon sirs!" The driver greeted and they were just about to answer him when a very angry Charles pulled the door open.

"I am hurt guys. Completely hurt and I don't want any of you to say a word!" He snarled.

The whole car became quiet as Brian scooted closer to Damien, trying to get away from an angry Charles.

The driver took the silence as his cue and started to follow the convoy heading to apprehend John.

"So, nobody will say anything?" Charles asked, glaring at the three of them.

"You asked us to remain quiet-"

"It's not funny Lucas!" Charles snapped and Lucas held his tongue.

"Look, Charles, we are sorry we didn't tell you about all of these. Damien wanted it to remain between us."

"Brian! You just threw me under the bus there!" Damien lamented not believing his friend.

"Brian is right. I personally wanted to call everyone, even Bella!" Lucas added and Damien narrowed his eyes at him.

"We are suppose to be the four musketeers. You two should have told me. I sit in my house and your mother tells me you called off your honeymoon and would get a divorce soon, if I don't do anything. I call you and somehow here we are on a raid to get Céline's ex-boyfriend, what's going on?"

Damien knew his mother would somehow be responsible for this and he was right. She always ran to Charles whenever she felt something was going beyond her control. Charles was like the big brother all three of them didn't have. He was wiser and calmer. He grew to give the best life advise among all his friends and Damien looked up to him. And this was the reason why he didn't want him to know.

The car stopped at some weird isolated place at the outskirt of the city. There was a tunnel far ahead. It was well hidden and Damien knew they wouldn't have been able to find the place if Brian hadn't contacted his friends in the force.

"Is this the place?" Lucas asked the driver.

"Yes, sir. All we have to do now is wait for the Captain's signal." The driver explained to them.

Charles was still angry and Damien knew he had to apologize. Hurting Charles was never his plan.

"I am sorry Charles. I didn't want you to be disappointed in me... I am in this mess because I didn't trust my own heart. I didn’t trust Céline."

Being the calm person he was, Charles breathed out in relief. "You made her cry a lot didn't you?"

"Yeah..." Damien answered closing his eyes. He could see the images of Céline crying in her sleep each night he went to check on her. She was a mess because of him.

"You are a jerk!" Charles barked.

"That, he is!"

"Shut up Lucas!" Brian warned.

"So, what's the plan now?" Charles asked.

"That I can answer," the driver said and they all turned to gawk at him.

"We catch this son of a bitch and get sir Culhane's wife to forgive him!"

That sounded like good plan, Damien thought.

There was a beeping sound on the car and they all turned to the driver.

"What's that?" Brian was the first to ask.

"That's our Cue. Let's go."

They got down from the vehicle and took long steps to the mouth of the tunnel where a man with barely any skin was kneeling with his hands behind his head snickering like a maniac.

The bloody bastard had wanted to get his filthy hands on his wife!

Anger came over him and before anybody could realize it Damien threw a punch at John, breaking his nose.

"You bastard!" Damien screamed.

The officers in the tunnel quickly held unto him, stopping him from inflicting more harm to the suspect.

John's bloodshot eyes met Damien and he started laughing. His dark lips and bloodied nose moved as a deep sadistic laughter escaped his lungs.

"Damien Culhane... What a fool you are!" He snarled, laughing even harder.

Damien stopped struggling and stared at the crazed man in front of him.

"You are here, when your good little wife is about to kill your own uncle." His laughter became hysterical.

Damien's heart started racing and his brain was working at a pace faster than what should be considered healthy. What was this lunatic talking about?

"What do you mean?" Brian asked.

"You are such a fool!" He roared. "You are all fools!" He repeated, falling into another fit of disturbing laughter.

Damien's legs started moving on their own. He didn't know where he was going but he knew he had to find his wife. He got to the vehicle that had brought them and fortunately, the driver had left the key in the ignition box.

Without thinking he zoomed off. He dialed Céline's number as he moved but she didn't pick up. He tried it five more times before he started calling her aunt instead. If anything was going on, her aunt would surely know.

"Hello, Damien?" Elizabeth answered.

"Where is Céline?" He barked.

Elizabeth went quiet as she considered her answer. Should she betray Céline and tell Damien where she was?

He was so scared his heart was beating too fast. A large lump sat on his chest and he feared the worst had happened.

"Aunt, plea-please where is she?" He didn't even realize he was crying until his vision got blurry and he had to wipe it off with the back of his hands.

"She's at your uncle's place..." Elizabeth whimpered.

"He killed her parents. She wants revenge... I told her not to take the law into her own hands but she wouldn't listen to me..."

"Go stop her Damien, go!"
