75: The Endgame

The black wolf growled at Samael with immense hatred and the demon lord mockingly smiled in response. It only added to Boris’s rage. Samael didn't seem to acknowledge the majestic Alpha in its true form, standing in front of him. The Alpha was wary of his actions and observed what Boris was planning to do. But in reality there was nothing more than raw rage on the veteran werewolf’s mind. The black wolf, blinded by rage, pounced on Samael just as the demon had expected. Samael disappeared in the nick of time and the swipe from the wolf went hitless. Boris looked around in confusion. The demon had vanished into thin air. The entire arena echoed with Samael’s mocking chuckles. He reappeared near Sophie and chucked her away in a blink of an eye. The girl flew for a while and bashed against a wall. Aaron spontaneously dashed towards her. Sophie didn't look able to move an inch and was in immense pain. The demon focused all of his attention towards Boris. Samael blinked back in front of the black wolf. He stood there in the guise of Mr. Lawson except for the arms. It further enraged the veteran werewolf and he swung another reckless blow. The demon lord easily parried it and countered it with a casual swipe of his own. The blow landed hard on Boris and he backed off. He realized that his neck was badly bleeding and that’s when he caught the terrifying claws of the demon. Blood dripped from the long intimidating nails. The demon flaunted it. Boris stabilized himself for another attack and Samael was ready for it. The werewolf swung multiple swipes at the demon and Samael expertly dodged every blow. The speed of the werewolf was blinding but somehow the demon seemed to be one step ahead of him. After several failed swings, the demon decided that it was his turn. Samael shapeshifted back to his original self and punched Boris hard on the jaw. The black wolf sprang into the air and landed several meters away from the demon. Samael couldn't help but smile at his unmatched strength. He was levels above his enemy. It took a while for Boris to get back up to his feet. He felt extremely dizzy and a tooth fell out from his mouth. Samael had claws that were sharp enough to cut open a wolf in a single swipe yet he had settled for a punch instead. The demon was clearly playing with the veteran werewolf and Boris was starting to understand that. He scowled at Samael from a distance, trying to plan some out of the box strategy. Samael pointed his finger at the werewolf and flicked it to the side. Boris went flying in the direction of his finger. Boris bounced twice before he dragged to a stop. He struggled back to his feet and stared astonishedly at the demon who smirked back at him.

“Surprise weakling! I’m more powerful than the prick you killed at the hotel!”, Samael shouted in a terrifying voice. He opened his arms and slowly lifted them upwards. Boris tried to understand what he intended but then he saw the volcanic spikes levitate. The biggest of the spikes were three feet long. Aaron looked back at Boris and realized that Samael was dominating. The veteran werewolf started to feel a hint of fear in his heart. The demon swung his arms in the direction of the black wolf and the spikes followed his command. The projectiles flew like bullets and proved to be too fast for the injured werewolf. Boris tried his best but couldn't dodge all of them. One of the smaller spikes tore through his body. The wolf plummeted to the ground. Samael lifted himself in the air and levitated towards the downed werewolf. He gestured up another large spike from the ground and held it above Boris who awaited the killing blow. A powerful impact threw Samael into the farthest wall of the expanse. Aaron didn't hold anything back. The wall broke down and the demon lord flew right through it. The Alpha rushed to the black wolf and found him in a pitiful state. The spikes had done enough damage. The wolf breathed heavily and let out a squeal before his life abandoned his body. The Alpha felt a thorn in his heart. He yielded a pained howl. Sophie staggered back to her feet. Her already injured wrist was among the casualties of the brutal blow she had been dealt. She felt at least a rib join the list.

The Alpha’s sorrow turned to anger as soon as he saw Samael levitate back into the castle grounds. He looked slightly injured which the demon didn't seem to enjoy. For the first time during the encounter, the demon lord lacked the mocking smirk on his face. The Alpha charged at him as soon as Samael was close enough. The demon lord did a hand gesture similar to the one he did at Boris and flicked his wrist. Only this time around, it didn't work. The Alpha came at him with the same pace and only his radiating fur seemed to obey the demon’s command. The silver wolf neared the demon lord with all its might and relentlessly struck him with a powerful blow. Samael was caught off guard. His body dragged along the ground and eventually stopped creating a crater. It took him a while to stabilize his head. The Alpha didn't give him an inch and charged at him again for another attack. The demon lord’s head was spinning and his chest was starting to bleed. The blood was difficult to spot on his red skin. Samael desperately forced up the volcanic spikes around him and threw them at Aaron. The spikes disintegrated at impact and the Alpha didn't seem to acknowledge them at all. Samael saw that strategy fail and he decided to buy some time. He disappeared. The Alpha simply changed his course and forcefully bit at empty air. Samael let out a deafening scream and blinked back into sight. The beast gnawed on his torso. The Alpha shook him rapidly and threw him across the castle grounds. Samael bounced twice before coming to a stop. He was bleeding profusely and one of his eyes was out of order. His body didn't seem to have enough left in it to get back on its feet. He wheezed and groaned in pain. The Alpha crept near him for the killing blow. The demon didn't react. The staggering wolf stood just a meter away from Samael and readied itself to attack. In a single swift motion, the demon lord pulled out a fistfull of glimmering dust and threw it at the Alpha. The wolf recoiled instinctively. The silver dust didn't turn the Alpha back to his human form as Samael had expected but it seemed to have affected the werewolf’s senses. The Alpha shook his head to shake off the effects but it didn't seem to work. The demon lord used the last of his resolve to get back on his feet and he disappeared as soon as he was able to. The Alpha wasn't able to sense Samael move around him in the invisible state. The demon lord decided to take advantage of that. The Alpha felt a claw at his rear leg that left his leg bleeding. He quickly turned at the direction of the blow and swung a paw which hit nothing but air. Another claw was felt, this time near the neck. The wound was deeper than the earlier one. The silver beast was slowly turning crimson. The wounds were healing but before one was sealed shut, another one was inflicted. Samael dealt another blow which threw the Alpha down on the ground. Samael saw that as an opportunity to finish him. He pounced on the Alpha and attacked his throat. By sheer dumb luck, Aaron got his paw in the way. The demon tried to force his claw to the Alpha’s throat and the werewolf fought back. The razor sharp claws of the demon crept closer and closer to the throat of the werewolf. A rock hit Samael on the back of his head. The demon turned and saw Sophie with another rock in her hands. He felt rage brew up inside him like lava. He stepped away from the Alpha and decided to finish off the girl first. Sophie winded her arm and the demon forced up a stone spike from the ground. There was no doubt as to whose projectile will reach its target first but Sophie refused to back down. The Alpha saw the inevitable happening and sprang back to his feet even though he feared that he might not reach her in time.
