Chapter 59: Coronation
The wedding of Aldar and Melandra is one that would be remembered in the history of the Four Reams. Both rangers serve as an inspiration to all the fairies because their love gives everyone a positive feel of a happy life despite being destined to be the protector of the realm. This is yet another sign that a long lasting peace is achievable when the fairies are at ease to live their days without fear.
The valley is back to its usual farming atmosphere. The place is abundant once more and back to its original glory. Market fairs are taking place every weekend and more and more humans visit and enjoy the fruits of Mother Earth.
The fairies have so much to be grateful for. The balance has been restored and the fairy kingdom exists harmoniously with the human world though unknown to them.
Currently, the four realms are kept in check by their Kings and Queens. Yet a grand coronation would take place soon to crown another Queen.
The news of the coronation has been unexpected throughout the realm. However, the soon to be Queen's reputation and service to the realm could not be questioned.
The Azure River would be the venue which is chosen by the Kings and Queens in order for the whole fairy kingdom to witness such a momentous event.
The fairies of the four realms are gathered around the Azure in their colors of blue, green, orange and white. Each fairy anticipates the crowning with much excitement and reverence.
The future Queen has been known throughout the fairy land as a brave ranger. She is a formidable protector of the realm and this has been proven time and again during siege of the Orange Haven and at the battle against the Dark fairy beyond the Dark Mountains.
Princess Ava walks carefully towards where her King Father Oberon and Queen Mother Meridian stands. The Queen carries a shell-like container. She smiles proudly at her daughter.
Princess Ava kneels in front of King Oberon. The King retrieves the crown for her from the shell-like container. The crown is made of pearls and topaz gem stones.
King Oberon gently places the crown on his daughter's head.
"Rise, Queen Ava of the Water Haven."
King Oberon announces proudly.
Queen Ava stands and faces all the fairies of the realm. She bows to the crowd in humility.
"I swear my allegiance to the Four Realms of our Fairy Kingdom. You have my wisdom and protection."
Queen Ava declares to the crowd in a steady voice. Her stance is truly of one worthy to be Queen.
She glances back at her father and mother with a smile. Her mother could not help get teary-eyed for her overwhelming joy for her daughter's as ascension. Her father wears a triumphant smile. He has always pinned for her to rule their realm.
Now that King Oberon and Queen Meridian has decided to give more time to their relationship, they have surprised the whole fairy kingdom with this news to step down and give the reign over the Blue Haven to their daughter.
Both would remain advisors to the new Queen as her Regents. But of course she has her brother King Merlion to support her as well.
"Congratulations Queen Ava. You made us proud. I have always known you are destined for greater things."
Queen Aine is the first to approach Queen Ava. She has always been rooting for this brave ranger and Princess.
Both share their ferocity in battle and making wise decision, though from different generations.
"Thank you for your strong confidence in me, my Queen."
Queen Ava bows reverently to the Queen of Air fairies.
King Merlion and Queen Alina are the next to express their well wishes for the young Queen.
"Queen Ava, your crown suits you well. You deserve it my little sister."
King Merlion's comment appears casual but sincerely proud of his sister.
"You have the support of the Green Haven."
Queen Alina assures the new Queen.
"Thank you, my brother and sister."
Queen Ava replies, giving both King and Queen an embrace at the same time.
Princess Aria walks up to the group with Caspian and Aramir behind her.
"My Queen Aunt, congratulations!"
Princess Aria says as she hugs her aunt excitedly.
"My Queen, you have our loyalty as well."
Caspian promises.
"My Queen, I would like to take this moment to request for your permission to be your first ranger in command. I hope I am worthy of your trust."
Aramir states in all seriousness as he bows in front of the new Queen.
Queen Ava stares in surprise at the ranger kneeling in front of her then she glances at the King and Queen of the Earth fairies with a questioning expression.
"It has been granted before this Coronation. After Ailsa's..."
The King pauses.
"What your brother means to say is that Aramir asked our permission to be your head ranger. He could not part from a certain Princess he saved in the past."
Queen Alina explains more casually.
King Merlion smiles with gratitude to Queen Alina. She has always known the right words to say.
"Don't worry, I have a lot of rangers to spare."
King Merlion adds jokingly.
"Well then, who am I to refuse such a valiant ranger? Rise, Aramir, our first ranger in command."
Queen Ava utters with a slight smile on her face.
"Congratulations Queen Ava! Aramir has been worried that you might refuse since you know that I am a better ranger than him."
Aldar exclaims, obviously teasing Aramir.
"Oh really? Better among our male rangers you mean?"
Melandra joins in the teasing.
"Of course, my love."
Aldar answers quickly.
Everyone who overheard Melandra laughs.
"Congratulations Queen Ava."
Melandra greets the new Queen.
"Congratulations young Queen. We have high hopes for your reign."
Everybody turns silent when they hear the voice of King Hakan. The Fire Lord has not been seen since after the battle at the Dark Mountains. He did not even attend the wedding of the two rangers.
The Fire Lord walks up to Queen Ava and bows humbly.
"The Four Realms need new governance for our future generations. I have to say, you are a perfect model fir them."
The Fire Lord comments with sincerity.
"Thank you for your strong support. I hope I live up to the expectations."
Queen Ava replies humbly.
Just like that, the Fire Lord turns and walks away from the group. Queen Aine follows intending to have a word with him.
"Queen Ava, could I have a word with you?"
Princess Aria asks suddenly.
"Yes, my niece."
Queen Ava leads the Princess a bit a short distance so as to have a private conversation.
"What is it my niece?"
The Queen inquires.
"My Popsie Reed and Marmee Rose wishes to congratulate you for your coronation. My Popsie says he is honored to have a Queen Sister."
Queen Ava is lost for words upon hearing this. She embraces her niece as her reply.
The Water Prince has made the decision that his life is in the human world. His brother and sister honor that so they never forced him to enter their realm. It is enough that they found him well and happy.
Even their father, King Oberon honors this choice. He does not insist on meeting him. Maybe later on, only when his half human son is ready.
"You have such a formidable body guard. He would guard you with his own life."
Princess Aria says.
"I know. But you have one too."
Her aunt teases.
Both laugh as they rejoin the festivities in honor of the new Queen.
