Chapter 4
Cassie
Cassie showered, dressing herself in a dark pink halter dress with a pencil skirt style. She brushed her hair back in a straight ponytail, applying just enough make-up to look as though she were maginificantly make-up free.
Whenever she had to go into the village, she liked do it by getting in touch with her human side and who she was before she met Braden. After all, she couldn't simply forget she had lived the first twenty-eight years of her life believing she was a human with a birth disorder.
She stood to right the seam on the lower part of the dress when she was startled.
"Where are you going?" Braden asked, staring at herwhile leaning against the bedroom doorway. "Does it have to do with why you blocked the mind link?" He asked suspiciously.
"Braden, you scared the hell out of me," she said, placing her hand over her rapidly beating heart.
He pushed his muscular torso away from the doorway, stalking his mate. "A sign that you're about to do something I probably won't agree with." He stepped in front of her, looking at her sternly with his dark blue eyes. "Tell me."
It was no use. She knew there was no way in hell/Tartarus she could successfully lie to her mate.
"Where's Selene?" She asked, noticing their child was no longer with her father. It was extraordinarily rare that these two spent any lucid moments apart. Sometimes, even slumbering moments.
Braden crossed his arms, "I left her with Bridgette and Molly at the pack Pharmacy so we could talk in peace."
Cassie smiled at her mate, bringing her hands to the fastening of his black cargo pants. Although she wasn't using this as a tactic to delay the conversation, she didn't want to waste a golden opportunity. "Then let's not waste another moment wearing clothes," she fell to her knees, ready to unzip the object of her desires.
"You needed me," a familait masculine voice came up behind Braden.
Cassie blushed when she looked at the doorway to see Talon staring at her in blow job pose.
Braden took a step back from Cassie but not before she heard him release a growl. He took her by the hand, helping her to her feet. "I need to grab Selene and Molly to take them to beginning combat training," he told her before turning to Talon. "Stay with her," he told his friend. "Make sure nothing happens to her and don't leave her side." He said sternly. "We'll talk later," he promised her.
Talon turned to Cassie. "What did you do now?"
She shook her head, "I haven't done anything."
"Yet." He filled in, putting his hands in the front pockets of his pants. "Tell me about it on the way," he said, turning and walking away.
She followed him. "On the way?" She called after him amusingly. "And where is it that we are we going?"
Talon reached the front door of the house, holding it open for Cassie. "The village, to start." He said with a smile. "I know you more than you give me credit for, Cassandra."
She cringed at the sound of her full name. The look of satisfaction in his eyes let her know that she had the reaction he was waiting for.
Giving him a glare, she walked past him and headed to Braden's black SUV, which was parked to the side of the house.
Talon walked next to her. "It's obvious you're going to look into the human hunters," he spoke, keeping up with her. "We wouldn't expect anything less of you," Talon said softly.
She hopped in the driver's seat when Talon opened the SUV door for her.
