Just Kiss Me
Emily's POV
My parents went to bed early after dinner on Wednesday evening, so after I finished washing the dishes, I went up to my room earlier than normal. After turning off all the lights in the house, I went up to my room.
When I entered my room, I heard my phone ringing. I walked over to my bed and took it up. Checking the caller ID, I saw that it was Tori. I lay on my bed and picked up the call.
"Hey girl. What's up?"
"Hi Emily. I'm just checking up on you. How are you doing?"
I scrunched up my eyebrows in confusion. "I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?"
"Emily, you didn't seem like yourself in school today. You spaced out a lot and I noticed you barely said two words. I was worried about you." She explained.
"Thanks Victoria, but really I'm good." I insist.
"Are you sure?"
"Well, I would be eventually."
"Good. Don't worry about it okay? It will all work out. I know it will."
"Thanks girl." I said grateful that she was trying to make me feel better even though what she was suggesting would never happen.
"Sure thing. Okay, I have to go now. I'll see you at school tomorrow."
"Bye." I said and hang up my phone.
Resting my phone on the nightstand table, I went inside my bathroom to get ready for bed. When I got back out, I took up the book that I was currently reading from my nightstand table and got back on my bed.
I was lying on my bed reading for about ten minutes now, when I heard a sound at my window. I looked towards my open window and almost fall off my bed in shock.
Coming through my window was none other than Tyler. I stood up from my bed and walked over to the window as he stepped inside my room.
My eyes were wide with shock. "Tyler, are you crazy? How did you get over here?"
Tyler shrugged and pointed a finger behind him through the window. "I used the tree."
"But I thought you said it was impossible." I exclaimed, astonished that he actually came over the fence that separated our house and used the tree to my room without breaking his neck.
He smiled at my shocked expression. "No, I said you couldn't do it. I didn't say anything about me."
I rolled my eyes. "Of course." I replied. We fell into silence for about three seconds and suddenly I started to feel awkward. Trying to relieve the tension a bit, I spoke again. "What are you doing in my room anyways?"
"I'm here because I wanted to tell you that I don't want us to end our dating." He said.
I looked at him confused. "Why? I don't think we have to pretend anymore."
"Yeah I know, but we won't be fake dating. I was thinking that we could date for real this time." He stated watching my reaction.
My eyes went wide at his words. I tried to remain cool, not sure where he was going with this. Whether he was joking or not. I didn't want to get my hopes up, just to be heartbroken again. These past three days I was avoiding him so that I could get over the frightening feelings that I was having.
"Why? I thought you were getting back with Andrea." I said causally. "I thought you still love her." I added hesitantly.
"I never loved her. I know that now." He replied. "And besides, I had no intention of getting back with her."
"Really?" I asked, then pressed on. "Why?"
"Well, I can give you two reasons." He said, stepping closer to me. "One, because Andrea is manipulative and rude and I don't want anything to do with her again."
I smiled, glad to hear him say that. "Those aren't the words I'd use for her, but those could work too." I replied. "What's the second reason?"
He smiled as he stood in front of me. He was close to me now. Looking right into my eyes, he said in a quiet voice. "Because I'm falling for someone else."
I lifted my eyebrows at him as my heart began to beat faster. I felt like it was going to beat out of my chest. "Really? Who?" I asked, even though I knew he was referring to me.
"I'll give you a hint." He replied, smiling at me. "She's beautiful, smart, funny..." He looked down on the pajamas I was wearing and added with a playful smirk. "And she likes to wear Mickey Mouse pajamas."
I giggled. "She seems interesting."
Tyler lifted his arms and wrapped them around my waist and brought me closer. "Oh yes, she is."
"I'll like to meet her." I said with a teasing smile.
Tyler chuckled. "Just shut up and kiss me."
"It'll be my pleasure." I said as I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him.
Even though we have kissed so many times. This kiss was different. There was no holding back in this one and it felt like it meant something real. My heart was still beating rapidly and I felt his too. The feeling was exhilarating. I felt like I have finally reentered my body.
Tyler pulled away from the kiss and rest his forehead on mine. "I've never felt this way about anyone before." Tyler said quietly. With my forehead still resting on his, I looked at him as he continued. "I was avoiding it, but I don't want to hide it anymore."
"Oh yeah." I said just as quiet.
"Yeah." He removed his head from mine, but still held on to my waist. "So, what do you say? Will you be my girlfriend for real this time?"
"Hmm..." I pretended to think about it.
Tyler grins. "You're really going to leave me hanging?" I watched him as I tried to keep a straight face.
I smiled at him before wrapping my arms around his neck. "Does this answer your question?" I asked as I reached up to him and kissed him lightly.
He gave me a warm smile. "Yes it does. Good answer."
We stood in each other arms for a while and then I said. "By the way, why didn't you wait until tomorrow to see me instead of climbing through my window?"
"I had to see you and besides I missed you." He answered.
"Me too." I confessed. "I didn't know that when we ended things that I'd feel this way. I'm glad that you suggested this deal."
Tyler lifted his eyebrows in question. "Any regrets?"
I shook my head without thinking about it. "None."
"Good because I'm not planning on letting you go again." He replied. After a while he said. "I should go, but for some reason, I can't seem to get my body to move."
I laughed. "I know what you mean, but you should go."
Tyler lifted his eyebrows playfully. "So you want me to go?"
"Of course not, but I know that if I don't make a move we're both going to be here all night." I said. "And remember we have school tomorrow."
Tyler laughed at that. A little bit too loud.
My eyes went wide and I brought my finger to his lips. "Shhh Tyler." I said in a whisper. "You're going to wake my parents. I can't let them come in here and see you."
He took my hand that I held on his lips and enclosed it with his. "That wouldn't be good, would it?"
"Not at all." I shook my head. "My parents like you, but they wouldn't like the idea of you being in my room."
"Well then, I guess I better go now." He replied as he moved away from me.
He walked over to my window, but before he went through it, he turned back around and walked back towards me.
"Why are you turning back?" I asked.
"I forgot something." Was his reply as he wrapped his arms around my waist again and pulled me closer for a soft, lingering kiss. When he pulled back, he looked me straight in the eyes and whispered. "I love you."
I smiled at him, my heart beating rapidly at his words. I didn't expect him to say that but by the look in his eyes, I could tell that he didn't want to delay how he was feeling. I wanted him to know my feelings as well, so I said. "And I love you, Tyler King."
His lips stretched into a smile. "Good night." He said as he stepped away from me.
"Good night." This time, he went to my window and climbed out.
I watched him as he climbed down the tree and over the fence. When he was inside his room again, he looked over my room and winked at me. I lifted my hand and waved at him.
That night when I went to bed, it was the happiest I've ever felt.
