Werewolves can Shift any time they want into “regular” wolf forms, and possess strength, speed, and animal instincts, but on full moons they have to submit to their base urges. During that night almost the entire pack Shifts and retreats to the forest to act wild, get their aggression out, often hunting game or having flings. In the morning they stagger back home and spend the day recovering.
Each pack has been established for 50-100 years, its power/might, influence, and riches are determined by the size of the town they built. Moonvalley is top tier, with Redbone second, Goldwater third, and the remains of Leto still recovering, and then many other packs still in hamlet phases. The pack name is also the name of the town. Each is known for a color and overarching mannerism.
Moonvalley: white/gray and green; neutral, “boring”
Redbone: red and black; bloodthirsty, cruel
Goldwater: gold and blue; pacifists, pushovers
Leto: gray; depressed, poor

They follow a typical wolf hierarchy:
Alpha: pack leader, the king of the town
Luna: queen
Beta: second in line to Alpha title, the Alpha’s oldest son
Gamma: third in line; often the Alpha’s confidant, like a right-hand. He is in charge of military power.
Epsilon: guardians/military of the pack, under the command of the Alpha and Gamma
Omega: the working class of each pack, including healers, farmers/hunters, clothes-makers, etc.

19 YEARS AGO,
The infamous raid on Leto by Redbone happened, led by Alpha Serkan Redbone after his mate died giving birth to his daughter, Cerise. Stricken with grief, he launched the attack he’d planned for to originally take place the next year. Though the pack wrecked more than enough of Leto’s town and wolves, Serkan was killed.

Vallea “valley” Koray “ember moon”- Conri’s lover who follows him because of her own bloodlust, wants to team up to increase both packs’ power/size/influence. She is the Luna’s killer, framing Auryn after she failed to poison Arden and Artem too with the nightshade she’d replaced the healing leaves with. She was a maid of sorts, often delivering the Luna her tea and Arden and Alpha with meals.

Sona Mai is the apprentice and granddaughter of renowned healer Auryn Mai.
Arden Roshan is the only son and heir to the Alpha Artem and Luna Amaris.
Conri Grayhide is the adopted son of Artem, adopted brother of Arden.
Vallea Koray is an orphan taken in by her uncle and works as an attendant in the Alpha’s household.
Taos Redbone is an Alpha, older brother of Cerise.
Cerise Redbone is Taos’s younger sister.



All pack are experiencing a time of peace (within themselves), but skirmishes still happen often, especially between Redbone and Moonvalley. Packs/towns act like kingdoms, and kings try to take down kings for power and money.

“We—we shouldn’t. He’s your mate. My brother. This is…this is wrong.”
Some disreputable part of her brain purred, Why does it feel so right, then? the sensical part told her firmly, He’s right. This is a betrayal of the worst kind for both of you.


“Let’s get one thing straight, trinket. I always get what I want.”
Fear shivered through Sona, but she said, “Then I’ll have to make you work for it.”
Taos grinned wickedly. “I look forward to the challenge.”

Healers have the bloodiest hands.
Sona Mai is sworn to save and heal her werewolf packmates, and Arden Roshan is destined to become the next Alpha. Arden’s love for Sona goes unnoticed by her as she falls out of love with her own mate and Arden’s adopted brother, Conri Grayhide, who wants to take the title of Alpha for himself.
When Sona is accused of poisoning the Luna queen, she is forced to flee with Arden from their home. They are captured by a rival pack whose bloodthirsty Alpha, Taos Redbone, takes a great liking to Sona.
Sona has every reason to hate him for the things he’d done…but why does she start to look beyond his own bloodstained hands for something more than just cruelty in him?
