The Scepter Of Convergence

LORRY SPRINGSTONE'S/KELLY THOMPSON'S POV

I keep on trying to find the right words to comfort Eden without making false promises. But then, Elowen's voice cuts through the tension.

"Is this true?" she demands, her eyes darting between Jason and me. "Have you been lying to me this entire time?"

I open my mouth to explain, but Lady Arianrhod interrupts with a cold laugh. "Oh, they've been lying to everyone, dear Elowen. It's what their kind does best."

Jason growls low in his throat, his eyes flashing with a hint of amber.

"We did what we had to do to protect our son," he snarls. "You have no idea what we've been through."

Lady Arianrhod's form flickers, her ethereal presence growing more imposing.

"I know more than you think, Alpha King. I know of the ongoing war between your pack and that of old Alpha Biansky. You're being crushed by his son Harry and their ruthless warriors.Your palace is completely besieged now.” She shockingly reveals.

My breath catches in my throat at Lady Arianrhod's words. The war... How could she know? We'd been so careful to keep it hidden, to protect Eden from the brutal reality of our world.

Jason's muscles tense further, his jaw clenching. "You know nothing," he spits out, but I can hear the tremor of uncertainty in his voice.

Elowen gasps, her hand flying to her mouth. "A war? Is that why you came here? To hide?"

I turn to her, seeing the hurt and betrayal in her eyes.

"Elowen, please. We never meant to deceive you. We just wanted a safe place for Eden, away from the bloodshed." I justify.

Lady Arianrhod's laughter echoes through the cavern, sending chills down my spine.

"Safe? Oh, my dear, you've brought him into far greater danger,” she admits.

And as she's done mocking us, four large ghosts emerge from each corner of the cavern and circle us, their translucent forms casting an eerie dark glow across the cavern walls. Jason instinctively moves closer to me and Eden, ready to counter any attack.

My heart begins pounding in my chest.

"What do you mean?" I then demand, my voice quivering despite my attempt to sound strong. "What danger have we brought him into?"

Lady Arianrhod's form shimmers, her eyes gleaming with an otherworldly light.

"The Fae realm is no place for a werewolf child, especially not one with such... unique heritage."

Eden whimpers, clinging tighter to my leg. I place a protective hand on his head, feeling his small body tremble.

"You see," Lady Arianrhod continues, her voice taking on a silky, dangerous tone,

"your son's very existence threatens the delicate balance between our worlds. The power within him... it's unlike anything we've seen before."

The ghostly figures draw closer, their hollow eyes fixed on Eden. Jason snarls, his form beginning to blur as he fights the urge to shift.

"Stay back," Jason growls, his voice deepening with each word. "I won't let you touch him.”

Lady Arianrhod raises an eyebrow, seemingly amused by Jason's display. "My dear wolf, you misunderstand. We don't wish to harm the child. We seek to protect him... and ourselves."

Elowen steps forward, her earlier shock replaced by determination. "Explain yourself, Lady Arianrhod. What threat does this child pose?”

The ethereal woman sighs, her form flickering like a candle in the wind.

"The boy is in fact the reincarnation of a late and very powerful king from our fiercest rivals, the Black Faes. If they aware the kid is the reincarnated demised ruler, they will come to take him from you or from us. And it will be of course bloody because neither you nor us won't agree to let him go,” she explains.

“Rubbish!” Jason spits out with an anger I had never seen before.

"Anyway no one will ever take my son without going through me first," Jason finishes, his eyes flashing with a dangerous golden gleam.

I tighten my grip on Eden, feeling the weight of Lady Arianrhod's words settle over us like a suffocating blanket. The ghostly figures continue to hover, their presence a constant reminder of the otherworldly peril we've stumbled into.

"And what would you have us do?" I ask, my voice barely above a whisper. "Hide him away for the rest of his life?"

Lady Arianrhod's lips curl into a sad smile.

"If only it were that simple. The Black Faes have ways of sensing their own, especially one as powerful as your son. It's only a matter of time before they discover his existence."

Elowen steps closer, her brow furrowed in thought.

"There must be a way, My Lady.” She declares before adding while pointing at the scepter : “Look at that prop the boy is holding in his hands. It's not a mere object. It has magical powers. I told the travelers you could help them go back to their world in exchange for this precious stick. I know you can My Elder.”

Lady Arianrhod's eyes widen, a spark of recognition igniting in their depths. She reaches out a spectral hand toward the scepter, stopping just short of touching it.

"The Scepter of Convergence," she breathes, her voice filled with awe. "I had thought it lost to the ages."

Jason and I exchange a confused glance. "What is it?" I ask, adjusting Eden in my arms.

Lady Arianrhod's gaze snaps back to us, a newfound urgency in her demeanor. "It is an artifact of immense power, capable of bending the very fabric of reality. In the right hands, it could indeed return you to your world."

"But more than that," she continues, her form shimmering with excitement, "it may be the key to protecting your son."

Elowen leans forward, her eyes alight with curiosity. "How so, My Lady?"

Arianrhod gestures for us to follow her deeper into the misty realm. As we walk, the ghostly figures part before us, their whispers growing fainter.

"The Scepter of Convergence has the power to create barriers between worlds," she explains, her voice echoing in the ethereal space. "If wielded correctly, it could shield Eden from the Black Faes' senses, cloaking him in a veil of obscurity."Lady

Hope blooms in my chest, but I force myself to remain cautious. "And you know how to use it?"

The spectral woman's expression turns grave. "I possess the knowledge, yes, but I lack the corporeal form to wield it myself. The task would therefore fall to you."
