A WOLF WITHOUT HER MEMORY

CHAPTER 17

TANNER'S POV

"134....135....136....137...." I muttered underneath my breath as I was doing exercise. I grunted under the strain as I was reaching my limit, but i preserved. I was trying to make myself stronger since I was an half wolf, and it was an abomination. I wanted to push myself to the edge so I could change fully for the first time into a wolf. Right now the only connection I had to my wolf was the mental connection and the glowy red eyes but aside from that, I had nothing.

156....157....158" I continued when my wolf replied,

"It won't work, you know." He said as I collapsed on the ground, exhausted as I rolled on my back and said,

"You are supposed to be helping me, not draining me." I said as he chuckled and said,

"I am just telling you the truth. Exercising is good but if you think I would take full control of you and transform, you need to rethink it." He said as I groaned.

"Fine you piece of....." I was interrupted by the sound of my phone ringing. It was 10pm, who the hell calls at 10pm. I thought and I got up from the ground and headed to the study table and saw it was Casey. Immediately a smile broke out on my face as my wolf commented,

"Someone has a little crush..."

"Oh shut up" I said as I picked the call, falling down on my bed as she said,

"Hello, Tanner, did I wake you?" She said. Wow she was being considerate now.

"No...I was doing something, what's up?" I asked. I knew there was no way in hell that she just called to hear my voice. There was something she needed from me, not that I had issues with that, if that would make her call me, I would gladly take it.

"Actually I just called to hear your voice. I just got back home and I had nothing to do and I realized that I never thanked you for what you did for me, that day." She said as I was shocked.

"Talk about a plot twist." My wolf said as I shushed him and continued awkwardly,

"Umm, you don't need to thank me, really. You are making it bigger than what it seems, I just did what anybody else would do in that case." I said as my wolf commented smooth and I rolled my eyes. I was not even trying to flirt with her.

"Well it is to me...so how can I make it up to you?" She asked as I was stunned for some seconds.

"Really?" I asked as I scratched my head wondering where this side of hers that I had never seen was coming from. It almost seemed as if she was hitting on me.
Which was unlikely.

"Yes, I really want to make it up to you, what do you like best?" She asked again as I looked to my ceiling hoping that I would find some answers there.

"Ummm, the thing is....I don't really...."

"How about I make it up to you with some ice cream?" She asked cutting me off as I tried to talk my way out of this. This was new, this was uncharted waters, I wasn't ready to step into it, just yet. But it seemed that there was no way out as she continued,

"Ice creams, tomorrow afternoon at Reggie's paradise, I will meet you after school. It will be a great way to ease off tension after the exams and relax our brains. I hope you were able to coach Leo on some things." She said changing the topic as I sighed and relaxed on my bed saying,

"Yes, he is actually quite smart, for some one who only plays video games. I have a lot of hope on him, he will pass the exams." I said with belief as she sighed and said,

"If only I had that kind of super power, I would stay home all day and still not worry about acing my exams, but he has a good tutor, you. You should be proud." She said as I smiled a bit happy at the compliment she was giving me.

"I highly doubt it."

"You never take any of my compliments seriously. Why is that?" She said as I replied,

"No I do, but sometimes I feel like you just say those things because you have to say it and we are friends and all that. If a total stranger said it, I would be more inclined to believe him or her because they had no reason to lie to me, even if it means hurting my feelings." I replied with abated breath as there was peace and quiet for some time.

"Hello, are you still there?" I asked as she replied,

"Yes, sorry, I was thinking about what you said, you are right. It makes perfect sense, but for my sake, please accept it okay?" She said as I nodded my head although I was 100%aware she could not see me.

"Okay I will." I replied, I didn't want us to start arguing over this at all. Besides it was easy to concede than to win especially when it came to her.

"So hope you are in?" She said after some minutes.

"In for?" I asked slowly not getting what she was implying at.

"The ice cream silly, what else." She said. I could imagine her rolling those brown eyes of hers in hesitation. For a spilt second, I wondered how it would feel like if she rolled her eyes when I was buried inside her.....

"Tanner, are you there?" She asked snapping me back to reality,damn I got to get a hold of my thoughts.

"Yes sure. I am in. Thanks." I said hurriedly for the first time eager to end the call.

"Okay then....ouch wait a minute" she said after a loud thud could be heard from the other side of the call..I waited patiently, there was a scuffle on the other end which was making me worried so I asked,

"Hello Casey, are you there?"

"Hello!" The voice replied as it chilled me to the bone, making me shiver. That was not Casey's voice but it felt like I knew her from somewhere. But before I could say anything, the call got disconnected.
