Xander Redent
I started to distract myself with work so in that way, my head won't think about Athena. I started to get crazy with work until I forgot that I have a girlfriend. Lindsey went to my office angrily and she stood in front of my table looking at me with her burning eyes.
"Xander.. I swear I'm really tired of having a relationship with you." She said angrily but in a calm way. I know about it really well and I honestly don't want to stay with her anymore because I don't really like her in that way.
"I'm done with you." She said.
"Lindsey, I'm so sorry." I said and she sighed. She took a really deep breath and she looked at me seriously.
"You know.. you really need to fix yourself. You have been a mess and it's weird. I mean.. you're working but you're acting like a robot." She said and I felt so bad for her now. She was angry but instead of slapping and pulling off my hair.. she just told me to reflect myself.
"Sorry, I just.. you know-"
"Shocked? You're shocked because of the Jacob and Athena's announcement?" Huh?
"What?" I asked her a little bit shocked to know that she knows.
"No." I lied.
"Suit yourself but I'm done with you." She said and then she walked out from the door. I turned my chair around facing the glass to see the view of New York. I'm starting to miss London.
"Xander Redent!" I turned my chair back and saw Parker walking in. He smiled widely and then he clapped his hands.
"Congratulations on breaking up with Lindsey so.. now are you going for Athena?" He asked as he looked at me raising his eyebrows. I looked at him bored and got up from my seat.
"What makes you think I will go for her again?"
"Boy.. you like that girl a lot and trust me.. you won't get her out from your system." He said it in a sassy way and I just shook my head looking at him.
"There's a lot of girls in this world and why would I go for Athena again?" I said and laughed.
"Do you hear yourself? You sound like an idiot when you say that." I wanted to smack Parker so bad.
"Why are you here?" I asked and he gave me a small ticket.
"Happy Birthday brother.. I mean it's tomorrow but I'll be going to Orlando so I want to give you your birthday present earlier." I looked at the ticket and looked up to him again.
"What the?"
"Trust me, you'll thank me later."
"It's tonight!" I said and he smirked.
"Yeah.. it's tonight." I said and I can't believe he's giving me a ticket to a Lion King musical performance.
"You must go, okay?" He asked as he put his pinky in front if my face. I smacked his hand and he laughed.
"You know.. you should go for Athena again, buddy. Oh! I have an idea, how about we kidnap her?"
"I'm a Redent and I don't need to kidnap a girl to force her to be with me." I hissed coldly as I put the ticket on my table.
"But you need to kidnap Athena."
"Parker, stop talking about Athena!" I bursted angrily and he laughed.
"You've been so busy with work just to distract yourself right? But trust me.. it will make you feel even worse." I narrowed my eyes at him and he wiggled his eyebrows.
"Parker.. I'm not thinking about Athena so stop talking about her. I don't care if she's engaged to Jacob."
"Really? Imagine them getting married and then she will change her name into Athena Camery. She will have kids.. cute little kids.. a bunch of little beautiful Athena around and then-"
"Don't make me throw a lamp at you, Parker." I said seriously and he laughed.
"You're pissed.. oh come on.. I'm tired of you asking me to be with you while you're drinking. All you did was talk about Athena all the time."
"I never!"
"I have all the videos in my phone, maybe one day I will give you as a gift by playing it on Times Square." He said playfully and I grabbed the nearest lamp but he ran out from my office quickly.
Suddenly there's an idea came to my mind. I took my car key on my desk along with the Lion King ticket and went down to the parking lot. I called my private investigator to find where Athena is.
You just said that there's a lot of women in this world, why would I still want to be with Athena? I can't even answer that question.
"Xander.. you are a one stupid man." I said to myself when I drove out from my office building. I drove towards Athena's house and my private investigator called me.
"Where is she?" I asked as I answered the call.
"She's at Starbucks right in front of Lemiere's building." He answered and I'm 5 minutes away from that building.
"Thankyou." I ended the call and I drove faster. I parked near that place and walked fast towards Starbucks. I walked into the store and my eyes scanned the whole room and still can't find her. I ran up to the second floor and my eyes caught her sitting next to the window sipping her coffee.
I walked towards her and my feet got a little heavier when I got closer. The crazy feelings that I get everytime I see her.. start to come and make me go crazy. I told my brain to stay calm.
I pulled the chair in front of her and she automatically looked up to me.
"What are you doing here?" She asked coldly as she turned her attention back to her iPad.
"I'm here to make a deal."
"Go to my office.. and find Chase or maybe my dad." She said as she pointed to her building. My eyes landed on the engagement ring that circled her ring finger and I can't help but being pissed.
"I want to buy your land in Colorado." I stated and she laughed dryly.
"Just deal with the lawsuit first and then.. you can buy it." She smirked looking at me and I leaned closer to her. I saw her expression changes and I can't help but so excited.
"Why so pale, beautiful? Is your heart beating twice the time?" I asked teasing her but she sat up straight right away. She pointed at her engagement ring.
"Shouldn't I be the one who ask that?" She asked and I scoffed.
"How about we talk about what happen 7 years ago?" I asked and raised her eyebrows looking at me.
"Why do you love to talk about the past so much? Move on, Xander."
"So you have moved on?"
"Wow.. are you blind or deaf or what? I'm engaged, Redent. Now, get your ass up and go before I get my guards to come here and drag you away." She gestured me to go but I shook my head.
"I want to buy your land in Colorado, woman. Take me to your dad or Chase so I can talk to them." I said and she nodded. She got up from her seat and gestured me to follow her. We got out of Starbucks and crossed the street towards the Lemiere building. We walked inside and went straight to the lift. Athena pressed the 18th floor and the lift went up.
As the lift opened.. She walked out first and I followed her. She asked one of her employees and she walked back to me.
"My dad and Chase are not here so come here again next time." She said and I guess God is on my side now.
"So I can't talk about it with you?" She sighed and gestured to me to go to her office. I entered her office and it's not as big as my office but it's cozy. She took off her black blazer leaving her in white office shirt and black office skirt.
God please control the inner beast inside of me because this girl is so tempting.
"Didn't you go to mechanic school?" I asked and she turned to me glaring.
"I'm not answering private questions, Mr. Redent."
"Do you miss me?" I asked snd she ignored me.
"Did you like me back then?" And again.. she ignored me.
"Why did you leave me like that? Why did you leave me without saying anything?" I added and she was still ignoring me.
"Is it because I was a playboy?" I stated and she turned to me.
"Are you done blabbering? I'm trying to find the file here." She said coldly and I sighed.
"It's because I was a playboy." I said in a small tone again because I finally found my answer.
