Not Enough
Alisha still had lingering fears about what had happened at the old residence.
She didn't expect herself to lose, so she arrogantly asked for a bet.
Now that Alisha lost the bet, she was scared.
After all, they were in the Caffrey family last time, so she did it only in front of the servants who signed the contract to keep it a secret.
If she was unhappy, she could just vent her anger on the servants. Who dared to gossip about her?
But this time, if she had to kneel and greet Viola in front of so many strangers, how would she keep a good reputation in the upper class?
Alisha just couldn't do it!
She hid behind Whitney and argued, "It was just a joke. Why are you so serious?"
Jason put his hands in his pockets and mocked, "You lost the bet, and try to go back on your word now. I didn't expect the Caffrey family to be so shameless."
Whitney was puzzled by his words.
After asking Alisha about it, Whitney knew the bet between Alisha and Viola. Whitney tried to ask Viola to move on easily.
"Viola, don't go too far on it. Alisha is still young. How can her words count? Moreover, if she did it in front of so many people, how would she be able to lead a normal life in the future?"
Viola smiled and asked, "If I lost the bet, would you let go of the chance to humiliate me?"
Of course not!
Ever since Viola divorced, she didn't take Whitney, her former mother-in-law, seriously at all. Whitney always wanted to teach Viola a lesson!
But Whitney kept silent.
She smiled gently. Just as she opened her mouth, Alisha took the initiative to speak.
Alisha said, "How can you compare with me? I am the Caffrey Group's Young Miss! Who the hell are you? My reputation is more important than yours!"
After that, Viola's face completely darkened.
"If you dare to bet, you must take the risk. Mrs. Caffrey, you always told us that she was still childlike. Do you forget that Ms. Caffrey has already been an adult? She can be responsible for what she said!"
It was Lucille, who came down from the stage.
She went forward and continued, "If Ms. Caffrey went back on her word on this bet, I'm afraid her reputation in the upper circles would never be better in the future."
"It's none of your business!"
Alisha grabbed Whitney's arm and glared at Lucille angrily.
Whitney, instead, sized her and Viola up. Whitney asked doubtfully, "Miss Lindsey, you spoke up for Viola. It seems like you've known her for a long time?"
"Just a matter of fact."
Lucille didn't look at Viola. They looked very unfamiliar to each other.
Whitney looked back and forth between them and did not think much about it.
Alisha burst into anger.
"No! The bet just now wasn't valid! I won't lower my head to a slut like you!"
As soon as Alisha finished speaking, she pushed Jason away and left the hall.
"Then it's not up to you to decide it," Viola said seriously.
As soon as she finished speaking, Alisha expected something bad to happen. She suddenly felt a pain in her back knee. Something had hit her.
"Ouch!"
She was in so much pain that she couldn't stand up and directly pounced forward, pouncing on Viola's heels on the ground. She looked so funny.
Jason and Lucille laughed on the spot.
It was indeed embarrassing!
If Alisha was sensible enough to kneel and greet Viola, she would not be in such a mess.
Viola looked down at Alisha at her feet and smiled, "Good girl, you're so obedient. Next time, you have to learn from it and don't make any bets."
Alisha tried to struggle up from the ground. She felt her knees so painful that she could not put in any strength. Her hand got slipped and she knelt on the ground again.
Jason almost laughed to death.
Unfortunately, most of the people present had left, and only a few witnessed Alisha's embarrassment.
Because they did not dare to offend the Caffrey Group, they could only cover their mouths and laugh.
Alisha was ashamed and annoyed, "Bitch! How dare you play a trick on me!"
Whitney's face turned pale, and she quickly went to support Alisha to stand up.
In the end, she didn't manage to do it. Instead, she was pulled down by Alisha. Whitney got slipped and fell.
Viola was quite happy, "Mrs. Caffrey, you are too polite. You don't have to greet me in that way, but I accept it. Thank you very much."
Jason burst into a laugh at the scene.
Whitney was extremely angry. She looked up and gave a dirty look at him.
It was in public, so she could only struggle to say, "Don't go too far! Stop it!"
Viola blinked, her eyes sparkling.
"Too far?"
Viola put on a poker face, "But I think it's not enough. After all, Ms. Caffrey didn't do it seriously."
Alisha was frightened, but before she could react, something else flew over.
Alisha suddenly felt a pain in the back of her neck, and she couldn't bear it anymore. She fell and her head hit heavily on the ground.
Someone sighed in shock.
The sound was so loud that it must hurt!
When Alisha raised her head again, there was a big bump on her forehead, which made her very funny.
Alisha was angry.
She felt so embarrassed that she wanted to disappear!
Whitney was angry and upset.
But this time, Alisha was wrong at first. In front of a group of strangers, she couldn't directly curse at them.
Finally, she supported Alisha, who was limping, to leave the hall.
When everyone was almost gone, the two bodyguards who had been hiding in the dark and using stones to attack Alisha came out.
"Well done," Viola said with a polite smile, "and I'll give you the bonus when we get back."
...
At the same time, in the mountain from Washington to Philadelphia.
In the past few days, Orlando had searched the entire mountain.
The various technology instruments he brought were directly used to power off.
It was getting harder and harder to find Viola.
The subordinates sighed, afraid of being punished by their boss. They did not dare to say anything.
Orlando leaned against the tree and silently smoked.
If something bad happened to Viola, it would be impossible for him to fail in searching everywhere for so many days.
One subordinate went forward and asked, "Boss, is it possible that the news was wrong? Maybe Ms. Zumthor fell somewhere else. Perhaps it was too dark and Lawson couldn't figure out the exact location."
He added, "What if she fell into a river? The signal in the mountain is too bad now, and we can't call for more people. Why not..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Orlando turned to be more serious and his eyes were narrowed. "No, she's not dead."
"What?"
The subordinates were all shocked.
Falling from a plane in the sky, how could she still be alive?
Orlando pursed his lips and did not explain it.
The news given by Nick could not be wrong, and Lawson was not lying. Viola did fall from the plane.
And the detection instruments he brought could not be wrong, either. Even if someone fell into the river, it was impossible to have no trace.
So, there was only one last possibility.
Orlando frowned and suddenly recalled something. "Return to Washington!"
"Yes, Mr. Caffrey!"
His subordinates immediately took the order, and a group of people quickly packed up their items, eager to fly back to Washington.
Just as they were about to leave, a group of people suddenly appeared. They supported each other and walked close.
