IT'S ALMOST NOON but Clyde isn't home yet. Chari is getting angry because it's his birthday and he's not at home at all.

"Why did you leave, Tej?" Chari's voice was loud.

"Mom, there you are again. Leave it alone! Your son knows what he's doing!" Clint warned.

Chari walked back and forth. Her face was red with annoyance.

"Where's Clyde? Call him!" she shouted. "What if Irene suddenly comes? How the hell are we---"

All of a sudden,

"Hi Aunt, Good afternoon, Uncle."

"Irene?" Chari exclaimed. They were all shocked by Irene's sudden arrival.

They all just looked at each other.

Irene greeted and kissed them both. "Where's Clyde, Aunt? I've been calling him for a while, but he won't answer. Where is he? It's his birthday! I'm going to treat him to a lunch date." Irene said with a smile.

LAURA IS CURRENTLY outside when Gwen suddenly arrives; Gwen is Laura's only close friend in her place.

Gwen patted Laura's back that instant when she approached.

"Gwen?"

"You didn't come to work again, Sissy? What's wrong? Because of your boyfriend?" She grinned.

"Boyfriend! Fuck you, Gwen! I don't have one! Did you see anyone?" Laura asked, laughing while continuing to pump water.

Laura laughed, then stopped what she was doing. "You peeked at my wall? Fuck girl! Mind your own business! Haha!"

I WOKE UP to the loud noise of the radio in the other room. When I looked at my phone, it was almost eleven o'clock in the afternoon, and there were already several missed calls.

"Mom," I whispered when I checked who the miscalls were from. "I— Irene?" I have several messages and calls from her in my inbox.

I looked at the four corners of the room. I knew that I was in Laura's room, and I knew what had happened so wildly between the two of us last night. I didn't drink much, so I was in a trance. Everything is still fresh in my memory.

"There!" I saw her white towel hanging. I pulled out immediately. "Can I borrow it, Laura?" I said, and before I even went out the door, "stop calling me, doc, you're not my patient anymore. Got it? Hmph!" I whispered to Laura, then smacked her. I saw that she simply smiled at what I did.

IT'S ALMOST SIX in the evening. Irene went home and waited almost all day for Clyde. Chari is ashamed of what happened because, until now, they had not been able to contact Clyde.

"So? That's the story, so—your brother doesn't care? " Clint said.

Chari could not speak. She couldn't believe what she found out.

"When? Huh? "Claudie?" Clint asked, frowning.

"Clyde said that—that the Indian doctor and Irene were together for three months," Claudie answered back.

"So?" Clint asked. "How—how did your brother find out about the affair?"

"Someone told him," Tejie replied.

"Someone just said he believed?" Chari replied.

"Mom, there's a video that was sent to him. It's said that his friend filmed it secretly so that Clyde would believe it because even that friend of his can't believe that Irene has another boyfriend because he knows that Clyde is her boyfriend, "Claudie explained.

Clint patted his forehead with a glance at Chari.

"They've been together for almost two years. Both sides are in agreement, so it's unlikely that Irene will cheat," said Chari. "Maybe that's just making up stories," she added. "He better not believe it. Irene loves him so much—we know that."

"Laura's mother is a black American," Claudie answered.

Chari looked at her son badly when she saw that he was already standing behind her.

Clyde hugged his mother tightly. "Thank you, Mom, don't cry, please. I'm okay, Mom, I'm okay," and kissed his mother's hair. "Have you and Claudie talked yet?" He and Claudie looked at each other, and she nodded gently to Clyde.

Clyde just smiled at them.

"See that, Dad? Another fake smile, "Tejie whispered to his father.

Clint just shook his head.

A moment later, Clyde's cell phone rang.

"It's Irene, answer it, baby," Chari said.

Clyde wiped his mother's cheeks first then canceled the call.
