Sixty Nine
***Adonis***
As her slender figure moved closer to mine, I felt a spark inside me. There was something that just keeps going off inside me each time I come in contact with her soft skin.
And every time my skin touched hers, I immediately feel the urge to protect her some more. The contact made me fully aware of the fact that she had entrusted almost her entire being to me.
Despite several doubts, she still let me kiss her. I moved closer and closer to her and she accepted me for who I was. She didn't hide her liking towards me and she failed to shy away from letting me take care of her in all kind of ways.
As my head replayed the gripping feeling I felt as her throbbing centre accepted my hardness, I just knew that no matter what happens in the nearest future, I will never be able to get Ruby Powers out of my system.
We didn't just have sex earlier. We made more than love. A crazy connection was made.
I felt it and with the way Ruby was holding on to me, I could tell she felt it too.
It felt like a universe seal.
Ruby let out a small moan that kicked me out of my thoughts. With a slight movement of my head, I looked down at her beautiful face.
"Are you fine?"
"Uhh..." She began to rub her forehead. The pain etched on her forehead made me instantly worried. "I have this crazy headache."
I sat up immediately and felt her forehead
like I would be able to tell how severe the headache was.
Ruby stayed cradled in my arms like a baby. My head began to calculate. "How crazy is the headache?"
"My head is pounding." She gripped the side of her head tightly and I became more worried. "It's aching me so much. Ugh."
Seeing her like that reminded me of the time her heart almost failed and I got a bit scared.
Action needed to be taken before things get out of hand.
Unfortunately, I had no aspirin in my drug bag. That meant I'd have to go get a new sachet.
But I needed to work on making her a bit relaxed. It would be proper to start by feeding her.
"I made rice earlier and a really delicious sauce. Can you eat right now?"
I found it weird to sound so concerned. And I wasn't trying enough, I sounded like a programmed human.
She managed a smile as I helped her sit up very carefully. "Adonis..."
"Yes?"
"I'd like to take a bath."
Of course, she should bathe before eating. As should I.
As much as I relished the scent that accompanied the aftermath of our earlier moment, it was necessary to wash up.
But I can always do that after I get some aspirin.
I got off the bed and rushed towards the bathroom.
"Adonis?"
"Yes?" I faced her and her eyes twitched.
"Can you please use a towel? You are teasing me." Her eyes wandered to my groin area and I got an answer to how free I was feeling at that moment.
"Keep your eyes closed. Then, you will not be teased. I'll be right back. I'll draw a nice bath for you, okay?"
She nodded, her eyes, puppy-like, a sight I loved to see.
I closed the bathroom door after I entered the tiled room and grabbed a towel. Once the lower part of my body was well covered, I got to work.
Intending to make the bathtub filled with an amount of water that was just adequate and slightly heated, I prepared the bath.
Once I was done, I let out a sound of satisfaction. It was certain that the heated water would take some stress out of her system.
After setting my shampoo bottle against the wall, I took one last look and made sure I wasn't missing any detail.
The next second, with a contented mind, I walked out of the bathroom.
A look directed at the bed and I could see that Ruby had her eyes shut.
Once I was close enough to pull back the strands of her hair, I whispered, "Hey, Ruby. You should get up."
Her eyes rolled lazily as she respond to my call. Her hands held the side of her head as she sat up, it was obvious she was trying to avoid showing her pain.
"Are you going to join me?" she asked as I held her hands and helped her out of the bed.
"No," I casually replied as if her question didn't make my head turn.
"Why?" Her knees dug into the sheets and she leaned her body towards mine.
Again, the contact of our naked bodies made me jumpy.
"Because..." I resisted the temptation and carried her out of the bed. "I need to get you drugs and dish your meal."
"I wish you could join me." Her arms went around my neck as I carried out the intention of putting her in the bathtubs myself.
"Stop getting ideas, Ruby." I kicked the bathroom door open. "Just enjoy your bath."
"But-"
Before she could get into my head, I gently placed her in the filled tub and the sigh she released after put a stop to the tempting route she was treading.
Seeing her fully settled, I knelt by the tub, stroked her hair slowly to her delight, and said, "I'll pick out something you can wear and I'll get your food ready. You'll find your food covered in the kitchen. I'll be out getting you drugs, so do not open the door for anyone while I'm gone.
I know no one can come in unless they know the code but we can never be too careful. You have my number on your phone, don't you? Call me if you hear any strange sounds, okay?"
"Adonis?" She placed one of her wet hands on my hand that kept stroking through her hair.
"Hmm?"
"I'll be fine. Just go."
"Don't open the door for anyone, okay?" I hammered that instruction because it was necessary. With the sudden appearance of Mark Lumber, I couldn't help but feel that things were about to change drastically.
A battle was about to happen.
"I'll enter the house by myself when I come back, so do not-"
"Open the door for anyone. Yes, sir, I got it," she responded with a lazy tone. Her hand kept gesturing towards the opened door.
"Good." I exhaled an air of relief. "I'll be right back."
I walked out of the room and approached my wardrobe to get something to wear. At the same time, I found a large t-shirt that I could envision looking good on Ruby.
After, with a casually clothed body, I gathered the stained sheets to a corner of the room, laid a new one, grabbed my car keys and wallet, and headed for the kitchen.
Once in the kitchen, I took a good look to make sure I had cleaned the room adequately. The sight before me was a good one, so I proceeded to dish Ruby's food.
After securing her meal safely and hygienically, I finally left the apartment. A small prayer of protection said within me, for Ruby.
The drive to the pharmacy would take approximately thirty minutes. But in order to make it back in time, I might have to break some driving rules.
It would be worth it. The unsettling feeling that befell me as I stepped out of the apartment made me wish I could teleport.
But what could be done?
For her headache to subside, she needed the drug, some good food, and a great amount of rest.
'Look at you, playing doctor,' a small voice said at the back of my head as I got off the elevator and walked towards my car.
I chuckled at that voice. I had to agree that a lot had changed about me.
Without wasting any more time, I got into my car and hit the road.
~
It was hitting me hard. The thought that something terrible was going to happen to Ruby kept hammering in my mind, I just had to break some rules to get me back to the apartment building on time.
A loud screech filled the car park's space as I raced my car towards my parking spot. Hurriedly, I grabbed the bag that had the drug and a pack of juice in it.
I had not walked a long distance when one of the security guards in the building came rushing towards me with distress on his face.
I did not miss the redness that had been imprinted on the right side of his face. His irregular breathing began to give me nasty ideas.
I was almost waiting for him to tell me the devastating news that something has happened to Ruby but I quickly rebuked that thought.
"Sir... Some men broke into your apartment and -"
"How on earth did they break into that place? I put a digital lock on the -"
"They broke through the window. It was bizarre."
Why? Why did it have to happen? Why did my malicious thoughts come to pass?
"What about her? What about Ruby?"
"W-we tried to stop them but they were too strong and-"
"Where is she?" I was almost growling. I was already itching to jump into my car.
"Th-they took her," the man uttered with fear in his voice. "We couldn't stop them. We are about to call the cops and-"
"They took her?" I said to myself. "How dare they?"
I could feel something going haywire within me. I wasn't going to go easy on those bastards.
Especially that Mark Lumber guy, I will make sure he pays for his attempt to break Ruby and her family.
It was him I needed to go after anyway. But I needed a little help.
"Listen, don't call the cops. I'll handle this," I said to the man as I made to rush back to my car.
"But-"
"Do not call the cops. Those men are gangsters. If they find out you called the cops, they'll come for you, okay?"
"Did anybody notice their entry?"
"Not really, the building is quite empty today."
"Good. Don't call the cops, okay? Those men can be nasty."
My statement seemed to have drained some blood out of the man's system. With a pale face, he nodded and rushed back to his station.
I entered the car with a destination set in my mind.
Instead of acting irrationally and circling the entire city in search of Mark Lumber, I decided to go to the gang's hideout.
If I don't find Ruby there. I would find answers concerning her whereabouts.
And I better find her fast.
I made Abby relay a certain promise to Ruby's parents. It would be a devastating thing if Ruby gets hurt because of me. It would be indeed disappointing if I'm not able to protect her.
That was the first reason I approached her anyway.
I wished to keep her from danger.
And now, more than ever is the moment to keep my word.
