Chapter XI

I sat down on Ademar's favourite armchair in the living room. He was standing in front of me.
"Sit down, please!"
"No, I will stand. Thank you!"
He took a glass of wine from the table and drank it all in one sip. He must have been thirsty or hungry. I do not really know.
"You said you have questions for me."
"Yes, I do. Did you know my aunt Elyse well?"
"Yes, she was the legal owner of the chateau before she left it to you."
"How was she like?"
"She was kind, joyful. She would smile all the time. Even after she found out she was sick she continued to smile."
"I do not know why my mother never told me about her."
"I cannot help you with that."
"Why did she never come looking for me? She obviously knew I existed."
"She did wanted to meet you in person but she was afraid you will reject her."
"Why would I do that?"
"Elyse knew your mother never told you that she had another sister. A step sister. They were never really close. I do not know why. Something must have happen between the two of them."
"Why did she leave me her castle?"
"You were her only next of kin. Elyse never had any children and never married."
"I will be forever grateful to her because of this. I never imagined I would own a castle. The simple girl that left home when she was only eighteen is now the owner of a castle in France."
And not just only that. I share the castle with a vampire, a charming vampire. Tall, dark and handsome with the most incredibile eyes I have ever seen.
Ademar was wearing black, skinny pants and a white silk shirt. The first three buttons of his shirt he left unbuttoned.
"Why are there no pictures of her? I could not find any."
"I have one picture of her from her younger days."
"Can I see it?"
"Later. I want to talk to you about last night!"
Oh no, it begins!
" Why did you kiss me?"
" Because I like you Ademar. You are not like the other men I know."
"No I am not. I am a vampire."
"It is not that. You are different. There is this air of mystery surrouding you and the more I spend time with you the more I found out."
I have this unique feeling when I am around him that is hard to describe in words.
"You know you are special yourself. Do you know there is a powerful energy emanating from your body?
" Can you see it?"
" No, but I can feel it."
" Did you encounter other people with this energy?"
"No, I did not. It is a mystery to me. You also have another ability. You have extrasensory perception also called short ESP."
"Like a sixth sense."
"You felt me inside that coffin. You knew where I was. How did you do it?"
"I do not know. I just knew you were there."
Oh, Ademar I have another ability. I have visions of past events. I looked it up it is called retrocognition.
I do not know how I can do these things. I just can. I have a strong mind or brain. I am not a person with a high IQ. Mine is average.
"I want to try a test just to make sure it was not a coincidence. Do you want to participate?"
"Yes, of course."
"I will go hide somewhere on the castle grounds and you will have to find me."
"Like hide and seek?"
"No, you will be blindfolded."
At first I thought he was kidding and I laughed while Ademar remained serious.
"All you have to do is focus on me, on finding me. Try to visualise where I might be and then come find me. Do you understand?"
"Yes, but it is hard blindfolded. I might hurt myself."
"No, you will not. Your other senses will protect you."
"Are you ready?"
"Yes."
Ademar blindfolded me with a piece of red cloth. First he made sure I could not see anything and then he left the room.
There I was alone in the living room wondering what was I doing? I was playing games with a vampire. I laughed and then I realises I was wasting time. Ademar was waiting for me somewhere near. He did not go far.
I emptied my mind and concentrated for a few seconds. I was not getting anything. I tried again. I visualised the castle in my mind and concentrated.
Where are you Ademar? Are you outside? No, you are not.
Are you inside the castle? Yes, I think you are.
Ademar was hiding somewhere below me. He was hiding in the dungeon. I did not even know the castle had a dungeon. The word dungeon comes from French donjon, the main tower of a castle. Back in the old days they used to keep prisoners there and torture them. I hoped this one had no instruments of torture.
I began to walk slowly with my arms streched in front of me like a blind person. I felt silly like someone was playing a bad joke on me.
Deep down I knew how to get there even if I had never been in the dungeon before. I carefully went down some stairs touching the stone wall with my right hand. When I reached the bottom I stopped for a moment. I did not know which way to go. Right or left?
I do not know did he want me to go right where he was and touch him or something? I found him with the blindfold on. What more does he want? I wanted to remove my blindfold so bad. I got tired of playing this game or test.
"Ademar you can come out now. I know you are here!"
I walked to the right and touched two steel bars of one of the cells with my hands. After a few seconds I felt someone standing behind me and turned around.
Ademar grabbed me into his arms and kissed me without even removing my blindfold.
