Chapter Sixty-Six: Bound by Love, Bound by Fear
The twins must have sent a mindlink to the pack to clear everyone out, because they didn’t come across anyone wandering the halls as she was carried by Luther through the packhouse and up to their rooms. The moment that they entered their room, they both were on her.
Luther threw her on the bed before coming down on top of her quickly. His lips crashed into hers with a fierceness that Charlie was learning quickly that she enjoyed. Hands came out of nowhere, running along her body in too many places for her to keep track of.
Someone’s hard cock slammed into her out of nowhere, pulling a scream from her that echoed throughout the packhouse and likely heard by all. Usually Charlie would feel shy about her packmates knowing what she was upto with her mates, but the feel of Luther pumping in and out of her at a maddening speed stole away all of her reservations over her volume.
It only took a few pumps of his hips to have her moving through another world shattering orgasm. Her walls wrapped around Luther’s cock tightly, hurtling him towards completion with a mighty roar from his lips.
Before Charlie could lay back and rest, one mate was replaced with the other, with Liam now settled between her thighs. The change from Luther’s furious strokes, to Liam’s more gentle touch was intoxicating.
His fingers intertwined with hers as he leaned over her body to kiss her lips gently. His hips picked up a steady rhythm, gliding in and out of her with excruciating slowness.
Luther suddenly appeared behind her, lifting her up so she was leaning against his chest. That position had her hips lifted higher, giving Liam more access to the moist heat between her thighs. His cock rubbed against her sweet spot with every maddening stroke, sending tingles of pleasure throughout her body.
It didn’t take long for Liam to give up on his slow pace and pick up a quicker–albeit still gentle–pace. Luther continued to hold her close to his chest as Liam moved in and out of her with determined strokes.
The two of them let go at the same time, calling out their release before falling into a deep sleep.
____________
The room was silent, save for the slow, steady rhythm of breathing. The warmth of her mates surrounded Charlie, their bare bodies tangled in the sheets, but even after hours of intimacy, the air was still thick with unspoken tension.
Luther lay on his back, staring at the ceiling, his jaw clenched so tightly that Charlie could see the tension in his muscles. Liam, on the other hand, was soft where Luther was rigid, his fingers tracing soothing patterns along Charlie’s arm as she lay nestled between them.
She could feel it in the way Luther refused to relax.
He was still angry. Still hurting.
Charlie didn’t know how to soothe him, didn’t know how to make him see that she hadn’t been trying to defy them. She had only been doing what she felt was right.
The silence stretched on, until finally, Liam broke it. “Do you understand the gravity of the situation we’ve found ourselves in, Charlie?”
Charlie stiffened.
Her name.
Not love, not mate, not our Luna.
Just…Charlie.
She had heard Liam speak to others like this before—Beta, warriors, packmates who had disobeyed orders—but never her–at least not since learning she was their mate.
She swallowed hard, suddenly feeling exposed despite the warmth of his body against hers.
She knew she had gone behind their backs.
She knew she had ignored their warnings.
But wasn’t the whole point of no longer being the pack slave that she could finally make her own choices in life?
That she wasn’t bound to follow orders anymore?
So why did it feel like she was still being told what she could and couldn’t do?
Why did it feel like they didn’t trust her to make the right decisions?
Her mind spun, trying to find the right words, trying to explain, but before she could answer, Luther suddenly threw the covers off and jumped out of bed.
Charlie flinched at the sudden movement, watching as he ran a hand through his messy hair, pacing the room like a caged animal.
His wolf was near the surface.
She could see it in the way his golden eyes flashed wildly in the dim light, in the way his muscles tensed as though he was barely holding himself together.
“Did it ever occur to you that we were trying to protect you?” His voice was a growl, low and dangerous.
Charlie instinctively curled closer to Liam, her pulse quickening.
Despite knowing that they would never truly hurt her, years of conditioning had ingrained the fear deep inside of her bones.
Liam tightened his hold around her, but he didn’t stop Luther.
He needed to say this.
Luther let out a sharp exhale, his hands clenching at his sides. “We have multiple packs along our borders that are already itching to get in here and take from us. And now, you just gave them one more reason to take that chance.”
Charlie felt a lump form in her throat.
She hadn’t thought about that.
“The other packs are getting hit harder than we are.” Luther’s voice cracked, his frustration bleeding into something deeper. Something raw. “They’re desperate, Charlie.”
The pacing stopped.
Luther turned to look at her, his expression no longer angry, but desperate and scared.
“We can’t lose you,” he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. Charlie’s heart clenched at the pain in his eyes. “I can’t lose you.”
And just like that, all her defenses crumbled.
Luther wasn’t angry.
He was terrified.
Terrified of losing her.
Charlie didn’t think—she just moved.
She slipped out of Liam’s arms and crossed the room, closing the space between her and Luther in a heartbeat. She wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing her cheek against his bare chest.
For a moment, he was stiff beneath her touch, like he wasn’t sure whether to pull her closer or push her away.
But then he broke.
Luther’s arms came around her, crushing her to his body, his grip almost painful in its desperation.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered, meaning it. She still didn’t fully understand, but she knew she had messed up.
Behind her, Liam joined them, his strong arms wrapping around both of them.
“We need you to let us protect you, Charlie,” Liam murmured, pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head. “Even if it feels like we’re smothering you.”
Charlie swallowed hard, her heart hammering in her chest.
Luther’s hands tightened on her hips. “You cannot go anywhere without one of us by your side. EVER.” Charlie opened her mouth to argue, but Luther let out a low growl, silencing her instantly.
“If we aren’t available, then you stay in the packhouse,” Liam added, his voice gentle but firm.
Charlie felt the walls closing in around her.
It was a cage.
A different kind of cage than the one she had grown up in, but a cage nonetheless.
But this time…
It was made of love.
Luther pressed a kiss to her forehead before resting his chin on top of her head, his entire body finally relaxing. “This is the way it has to be.”
Charlie took a shaky breath, forcing herself to push past the lump in her throat.
This was her choice.
Not an order.
Not a command.
Her choice.
For them.
She closed her eyes and nodded. She would do it. Not for the pack. Not because she had to. But because her mates were worth it. Because they were worth it.
And as they stood there, tangled in each other’s arms, Charlie realized something she hadn’t before.
She had spent so long fighting for her freedom.
But in the end…
It wasn’t freedom she had wanted.
It was belonging.
And despite everything, despite the walls closing in, despite the weight of their world resting on her shoulders…
She had finally found it because she finally had them.
