Chapter 27
CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN.
Rosa was exhausted but she felt good about it which was weird but for her it was everything.
She had been so sick for a long while and constantly exhausted but yet this felt different. As she stepped outside the glass wall of the office building and felt the warmth of the late afternoon sun on her face, her spirits soared.
To be out here in the sun again, despite her prognosis a few months ago, here she was alive and with a job that was helping her to be out in the world a little more.
The job at the firm had been a source of hope after the illness that had nearly taken her life, a few months of recovery and she was here. She had been working at the firm for a couple of months now and each task, was a challenge that made her feel alive and she was grateful for that.
She hummed a soft tune as she walked, across the street her ear buds stuck in her ears on a soft rhythm.
She needed to save a few months so she could find a place to live, the apartment was a nice place but it was too rich for her blood even though her family was considered wealthy in it's on right Raven Qing was on another level and it bothered her.
Arriving at the apartment complex she took the elevator to their floor.
They were two penthouse on that floor, Fiona's and hers. Rosa noticed the door of her apartment slightly open, a sliver of light from the sensor lamps in the corridor. This was worrying, Fiona never left the door open her heart skipped a beat before dropping to her stomach, instinctive worry gnawing at her. She pushed the door open gently, her breath catching as she saw Raven stepping out into the corridor. She smiled a little bit he didn't return it, his face pale and a mask of restrained emotion.
He paused, his eyes meeting hers for a fleeting second before he brushed past her without a word.
Rosa's unease deepened as she entered the apartment. The living room was unusually quiet, her eyes scanned the room, searching for her sister and finally landing on Fiona's thin form , crumpled on the floor, her face pale and streaked with tears.
"Fiona!" Rosa's voice was filled with panic as she rushed to her sister's side, kneeling down and taking her hands.
"What happened? Are you okay?" She asked rapidly, but got no response
" You have to tell me what's wrong so that I can help you " she mumbled
" What can I do to help?" She asked her voice thickening with worry now
Fiona's eyes were vacant, staring into something unseen in the distance, her body shivering with silent sobs.
Rosa's heart ached seeing her sister in such pain, after all they had been through of everyone in the world, she deserved to be happy, her mind racing with questions and thoughts as to who could have upset her so much. Nothing came to mind but Raven.
Had they fought was that it ?
She squeezed Fiona's hands tighter, willing her to respond, to give some sign that she was still there with her.
As Rosa held her, she noticed the envelope clutched tightly in Fiona's hand. Her heart pounded harder, a sense of dread and disbelief settling over her.
That bastard, he would not have dared, she gently pried the envelope from Fiona's grip, her fingers shaking as she opened it.
But before she could get it open she swallowed a few time ,that seemed to make Fiona become more aware of her surroundings, she reached for the file grabbing it from out of her palm almost too quickly.
Rosa felt a rush of anger and sorrow, her thoughts a whirlwind of disbelief and hurt, she knew what it likely was those papers and while she felt anger, she was mostly sad.
She pulled Fiona into her arms, holding her sister close to herself
"What happened Fi" Rosa asked her voice soft, yet urgent trying not to rush her into any statements or make her sad.
Fiona's tears flowed freely now, her body shaking very obviously with the weight of her tears and sadness
"He said...he said it's better this way. For both of us. That he was done with me " she whispered
" Bastard " she hissed and Fiona laughed
" That's very funny"
Rosa's heart broke for her sister, the pain of Raven's betrayal cut deep but it hurt her even more knowing that the only reason her sister had met this man was because of her. The only reason she had agreed to his proposal was because of her surgery.
She stroked Fiona's hair, whispering soothing words, hoping to be a source of comfort even though she was not sure she was doing any good as it.

"He...he asked for a divorce," Fiona's voice was barely a whisper as she finally said it, the words tumbling out between sobs and burst of breath.
"We'll get through this, Fiona," Rosa said, her voice firm despite the tears in her own eyes.
She pulled away and drew Fiona upright properly and stared into her eyes directly
"You're not alone. We'll face this together."
" You got into this meds for me and I'll get into any mess for your sake. " She mumbled , Fiona laughed
" That's very heartwarming but very unrealistic as well" she mumbled and Rosa shrugged
" Who cares if it works for us then that's all we need to know"
She pulled her into a quick embrace but Fiona didn't pull away, they sat there on the floor, wrapped in each other's embrace, the heavy burden of that moment pressing down on them.
And in that moment, Rosa vowed to stand by her sister, to help her heal and find the strength to move forward.
" You don't need him, we don't need him. And if we have to go elsewhere so you never have to see his bastard face again then we'll go somewhere" she promised
