CHAPTER 13: KIESHA'S CONDITION

The Benjamin Atlas School was preparing for the upcoming event which was most awaited by the graduating students. Whether from the Elementary Level, High School Level and College Level. All the parents from the primary level were very excited upon seeing their sons and daughters to walk on stage soon. Early in the morning, the parents of the children came along to their respective rooms to see their siblings’ names on the graduating lists. The high school students were chitchatting about their excitement for the fast approaching of their graduation. The flag ceremony started when Kiesha and her best friend lined themselves together with their classmates. Kiesha could not stop staring at the other section where Justin is located. But when she looked at them, no Justin appeared. She did not mind at all. Suddenly, a guy with a blonde hair came to their section. Something was different on him. He looked more handsome as he was quickly running towards his line. He was almost late that morning.
“Oh he came late again?”, said Aivy.
Kiesha did not say a word and instead, she focused on the flag raising. Suddenly, Kiesha felt something unusual on herself. She began a chest pain and can’t breathe normally. She held on her chest.
“Kiesha? Are you okay?”, asked Aivy as she was in front of her.
“Huh? Yeah I just felt I can’t breathe?”, replied Kiesha.
“What? Come on I’ll take you to the clinic.”, replied Aivy.
But in a moment, Kiesha collapsed. Aivy was panicking.
“Oh my gosh! Kiesha!”, shouted Aivy.
Their classmates was shocked. Their schoolmates as well as their teachers was surprised about what happened. Justin and Kenneth noticed everything. Both ran towards Kiesha to lift her up but one of the male teachers carried Kiesha already and headed towards the school’s clinic.
“Kiesha? It’s okay. I’ll accompany you to the clinic dear. Everyone, return to your lines now.”, said the male teacher.
“Is that Kiesha? What happened?”, asked Ms. Jane.
“Good morning Ms. Jane, I don’t know. She just collapsed in front of me. I’m wondering maybe he did not eat her breakfast?”, replied Aivy.
“I hope she will be fine soon. Or we’ll call her parents to take her home. We can’t leave her just to pedal her bicycle towards their home. I’m afraid about her safety Aivy. Please have time to look at your best friend. Okay?”, replied Ms. Jane.
“Noted Ms. Jane. Thank you very much for the concern to my bestie.”, replied Aivy.
Justin and Kenneth went back at their lines. Eventually, the flag ceremony has just ended. All the students returned to their respective classrooms except for Justin, Kenneth and Aivy. Aivy then walks towards the clinic. The two guys also decided to visit Kiesha.
“Hey, Aivy, are you going to the clinic?”, asked Justin.
“Oh hi, yes. I’m going to look at my bestfriend. You both can go back to your rooms now. Ms. Jane told me to look at Kiesha. Okay?”, replied Aivy.
“But..”, replied Justin.
“Hey buddy, what are you doing here? You can go back to our room.”, asked Justin.
“Alright, alright bro.”, replied Kenneth.
Suddenly, Ms. Jane came over to them.
“Hey boys, what are you doing here? Go back to your room now.”, said Ms. Jane.
“Hi Ms. Jane. We only wanted to visit Kiesha if she’s okay?”, replied Justin.
“Why are you so concerned about Kiesha? Who is her boyfriend between the two of you?”, asked the teacher.
“Ahm.. We’re only her friends Ms. Jane.”, replied Kenneth.
“Alright, you can go with Aivy. But be hurry because you’re not Kiesha’s classmates. Or maybe you are just pretending to be friends with her but the truth is you will only mock her outside the clinic.”, explained Ms. Jane.
“Oh, no. It could not possibly be.”, replied Justin.
“Really?”, whispered Kenneth.
“Just shut your mouth.”, said Justin.
“Bye Ms. Jane thanks!”, replied Kenneth.
“Hey Aivy, just wait for us!”, shouted Justin.
“What? Are you insane? I said you..”, said Aivy.
“Hey, we already asked permission from Ms. Jane and she said yes.”, replied Kenneth.
“Whatever.”, replied Aivy.
As the headed their way to the clinic, Matilda’s friends saw everything.
“So who’s your bet guys for Kiesha? Justin or Kenneth?”, asked one of them.
“I don’t know. Could you please do not add another headache for Matilda? You know what? Matilda will be glad about the news. What if you contact Matilda right now. Our girl was not yet here. I’m afraid she’s been kidnapped already. OMG!”, said one of the girls.
“Stop joking idiot. Or else I’ll cut your hair.”, said one of them.
“Oh you can’t! Silly girl!”, said one of them.
The two friends of Matilda ran each other and headed their way back to their classroom.
While Aivy, Kenneth and Justin continued their way to the clinic to visit Kiesha. Aivy knocked the door.
“Knock! Knock! Knock! Hello? May we come in doc?”, asked Aivy.
“Please come in.”, replied the doctor.
“Where is Kiesha?”, asked Kenneth.
Justin looked at him.
“Why are you still here? You can go now.”, replied Justin.
“What?”, asked Kenneth.
“Hi, good morning. Are you the classmates of Kiesha Jones?”, asked the clinic doctor.
“Good morning. Yes doc. I mean I am the only one. I am Kiesha’s best friend. While these two, I don’t know why they’re here.”, explained Aivy.
“If that’s the case, maybe one of you is Kiesha’s special friend?”, asked the doctor.
The two guys giggled with each other.
“How’s Kiesha now doc?”, asked Justin.
“Well, as of now.. She is still sleeping but don’t worry she will be okay soon. Maybe she needs some rest.”, replied the doctor.
“What’s the cause of her collapse doc? I bet Kiesha is very sickly nowadays since she studied hard. No wonder because she’s our School President in the whole campus. She is also our Class Valedictorian this year. I think she is just stress.”, replied Aivy.
“I think so. I saw her last time while she was bicycling on the roadside, she let herself dropped from heavy rains. No wonder she gets sick. I told her to just borrow my umbrella but she just resist.”, explained Justin.
“Wow bro. You really cared for her.”, replied Kenneth.
“Yeah as a friend.”, replied Justin.
“But yesterday, why did..”, said Kenneth but he could not continuously utter the words since Justin stepped onto his right shoe quietly.
Suddenly, Kiesha woke up.
“Oh Kiesha, thanks God! You’re safe!”, said Aivy.
“Aivy? Why I’m here? What happened?”, asked Kiesha.
“You just collapsed dear during the flag ceremony.”, replied the doctor.
“We should be the one to carry you Kiesha but our male teacher already did.”, explained Kenneth.
“So what’s the point you’re here?”, asked Kiesha.
“Just to see you..”, replied Justin.
Kiesha saw Justin behind Kenneth’s back. She did not say anything.
“Oh, I think we have love birds here?”, asked the doctor.
“Haha. Kiesha doesn’t like that kind of guys doc. Sorry, I am just kidding.”, replied Aivy.
“Hello doc, do I have a symptom why I collapsed? Is my body okay?”, asked Kiesha.
“Ahm.. Actually Kiesha, I will be the one who will ask you first. How did you feel back then? Does your head aches?”, asked the doctor.
“Well, yes. Definitely. After that, I can’t breathe normally. I mean something inside my chest is hurting. Due to that, I was nervous maybe I have a heart attack. Thank God I am now relieved.”, replied Kiesha.
“When I physically checked on you while you’re still sleeping, I know you are really stressed. Aside from your eyebags, I think you lacked vitamin C as well. And last thing, I found out that you are anemic. Your lips are pale lately so I just prepared a hot compress on your stomach as well because your hands are quiet cold. Have you eaten your breakfast this morning?”, asked the doctor.
“Honestly, I came to school early and did not eat my breakfast. I am really worried about my brother’s missing and to Matilda my classmate as well. I am so stressed that I can’t focus on my daily task as the School President. There comes a time that I went to the police station just to search for my parents as well since they were all gone by the time I arrived home from school.”, replied Kiesha.
“You know what best? You should not carry the entire world. I mean, you should also take a time for yourself. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself Kiesha. We’re here for you.”, replied Aivy.
Then, Aivy hugged Kiesha. Justin was really surprised from the words he heard.
“Doc? Can I go now?”, asked Kiesha.
“Are you okay now? If you’re not, you can directly tell Ms. Jane that you can return home. But first, let me check your bp. Here, take this Vitamins. Ensure to drink this after your meal. You can buy this in any drug store near your place. Okay?”, said the doctor.
“Thank you doc.”, replied Kiesha.
After, Kiesha slowly stood up and was supported by Justin while holding her back. Kiesha slowly pushed his hands away from her back and asked from Aivy’s help to support her instead. Kenneth noticed it and was silently laughing.
“What’s the matter with you huh?”, whispered Justin to Kenneth.
“You’re too obvious.”, whispered Kenneth.
“Let’s talk later about this.”, whispered Kenneth.
Kiesha and her friends returned at their classrooms. Aivy was supporting Kiesha and held her on the right arm while they are walking towards the entrance of the room.
“Oh, there they are! Kiesha are you alright?”, asked their classmates.
“Yes. Don’t worry. She was just having a palpitation. But she was okay right now.”, replied Aivy.
“Oh well, that’s the karma after what she did to Matilda.”, replied one of Matilda’s friends.
“Oh really? Is that what you think huh? No wonder your freak friend is not here. Where could she be? Oh no! Maybe she’s in danger! Well, that’s good for rude girls like her. Or maybe she was into an accident!”, replied Aivy.
“Please Aivy. Stop it. Enough.”, said Kiesha.
“Oh sorry about that best. I was just getting on my nerves when these two blocked our way.”, replied Aivy.
“What? Step aside!”, said Aivy angrily.
Matilda’s friends stepped back and returned to their seats as they were continuously staring back at Kiesha and Aivy.
“Urghhh.. I hate those two Kiesha!”, said Aivy as she helped Kiesha seated on her arm chair.
“It’s okay Aivy. At least we will graduate soon. Maybe we can no longer see them.”, replied Kiesha.
“Well, you’re right.”, replied Aivy.
“Anyways, how are you feeling right now? Do we need you to send back at home? Or how are you feeling? Are you hungry? Or thirsty? Or does your head aches again? I hope not..”, asked Aivy worriedly.
“Oh, I’m okay right now Aivy. I am very sorry for what I have caused you trouble lately. Please.. don’t worry too much now. I am very thankful that you’re my best friend.”, replied Kiesha happily.
“But why did you not eat your breakfast. Look at you now. Your body is weakened.”, replied Aivy.
“Yes. Because I am really worried about..”, replied Kiesha.
“Hey Kiesha. Look at me right through my eyes. You know, everyone loves you best. Especially your parents. Ahm. Just stop being too worried about the things around you. If we have many problems, I am sure we can face it and soon we will be happy because we resolved it.”, replied Aivy.
“I like your positivity Aivy. I hope I am too.”, replied Kiesha as she gave a hug to Aivy.
Meanwhile, Kenneth and Justin headed their way to their classroom.
“Hey, wait for a while bro.”, said Kenneth.
“What?”, replied Justin.
“Huh? Hey, I almost forgot. You know, you’re too obvious that you like Kiesha. Don’t you? And? You can’t fool me now bro. Haha.”, explained Kenneth.
“Alright, alright. We need to talk. I have something to tell you. I don’t know. I just don’t have anybody to talk to. What? My Dad? Of course, he wants the best for me.”, replied Justin.
“You mean your Dad just like rich girls right?”, asked Kenneth.
“Sort of. Not only Dad. Even my mother and sisters.”, replied Justin.
“So what’s the point? You looked so different when you’re with Kiesha.”, asked Kenneth.
“Really? I just only want to tell you that, ahm. Should I say, ah..”, replied Justin.
“What’s the matter with you uh? You can’t even speak clearly.”, replied Kenneth.
“Ho! How should I say this? Bro, I think I’m inlove.”, replied Justin.
“See? I told you bro. Your eyes could tell me. Is that Kiesha Jones?”, replied Kenneth.
“Yes. It’s Kiesha. But, what should I do if my parents would find out?”, replied Justin.
“Oh wow. Are you sure? What’s the matter with it bro? If that what makes you happy then why not?”, replied Kenneth.
“The question is. Do my parents be happy for me? Hey, please. Just promise me that you won’t tell anything about this ok? Even to Matilda and her friends”, asked Justin.
“Alright, alright. I’ll keep this a secret for you. We’ll talk more of this later after class.”, replied Kenneth.
And the two guys headed their way back to their respective rooms.
