Chapter Thirty one
'What is this I'm seeing Amir?" Yasmin let out boring her eyes unto him. Amir removed the small towel wrapped around his head and plopped it on the one sitter couch. The look of shock was evident on her face as he walked towards her. Yasmin turned the screen around, which consist of the text message that was being sent.
'Amir, tell me it's not what I'm thinking. What do all the messages mean?" She didn't finish talking when another message came in.
We need to talk. Meet me at Flad's Café. We have to get this done once and for all
She read it out loud, her eyes widening more. 'Ya Allah Amir, what are you trying to get yourself into," she remarked. Amir was left stunned. Why must they send him a message at this time? 'Mom, I will explain" he started getting cut off by her.
'Explain what Amir? This message clearly shows you're up to something. Who is this M. Tell me? I hope-" her eyes widened more as something clicked in her head.
'Is this all because of Zara?" she asked pointing a finger at him. Amir finds himself letting out a sharp breath. He knew his mom has already found out and she won't back off until he tells her the truth. Before he could open his mouth to speak, she continues again.
'What problem are you trying to get you and your parent into? I came here to speak to you about this whole thing but seeing this." She gestured to the phone that was still in her hands.
'Seriously Amir, why can't you accept your destiny? Why can't you understand that Zara is not meant to be yours. I should've listened to your dad, for telling me not to always take your side on things. Now see the outcome. What kind of life do you want to venture for yourself? Tell me Amir" She slouched down on the bed as she places her head into her palms. Something triggers in his head as his mom utter the words. He could see the disappointment in her face as she saw the messages. He doesn't know how to describe it but something like realization dawn on him. What exactly is he trying to do?. He might love Zara, but he can't bear to see his parents hurt because the look on his mother's face tells him, she cannot believe her son will do that kind of act. Leaping forward, he squats beside her. Placing his palms on her shoulder, she lifted her head.
'Mom, I'm sorry" was the first word he musters up the courage to say. 'I did that because I was angry. No one wants to take my side, so I thought if I break them apart; the marriage wouldn't be able to take place. I wanted her to be mine no one else but mom.." He stopped to inhale a deep breath. 'It wasn't my intention to hurt you by it, I only wanted to break them apart and stop the marriage nothing else"
'Nothing else?" she repeated readjusting her sitting position. 'Listen to me Amir, I'm your mother, It is a must for me to lead you through the right path. You won't gain anything by destroying what Allah destined to happen rather earn yourself a sin because when you die now, what will you tell your creator? And when you finally realized your mistake, it will be too late. So, Amir, I have only one piece of advice to you as your mother, Sabr is the key to any problem. You should have patience in Allah for he knows what is best for you. I know you love Zara genuinely but don't let your heart take over you. Let it go. The right woman will venture into your life Insha Allah" To say her words didn't send a shiver down his spine will be out of the word. What exactly is wrong with him? He is trying to separate them and destroy the family all because of love? Instead of him to accept it rather he is trying to spoil it. A yet another sharp breath escapes him. This isn't what he wants his life to be. He's glad his mom talk some sense into him. Her word of advice shot through every inch of his body.
'I don't know how to thank you mom for this word of advice. Indeed mothers are a blessing. Had it mean you're not here to lead me on the right path, only Allah knows what situation I would get myself into. Thank you so much Mom. Seeing Zara happy will make me happy too" A smile made it way to Yasmin's lips, she's glad he realized the mistake he was about to commit. She prays her son will remove Zara out of his heart. That is the only way she would feel at ease. Taking his hands into hers, she let out another smile.
'I'm glad you decided to heed my advice. Always go to Allah with your problems and all shall be well."
'Insha Allah" he ushered.
'One more thing, make sure you apologize to Zara for your act. And I hope you will give your full support for the marriage" Even though his heart clenches a bit, he still manages to nod to his mother.
'Good I will now take my leave. May Allah bless you." After she is out of the room, he carried his phone from the bed. He has to do this. He muttered.
Amir arrived at Flad's café, spotting Minal checking her wristwatch. When she finally sights him, she let out a short sigh.
'I have been waiting for you for over ten minutes" she uttered sipping the almost cold coffee.
'I was caught up in some work" he answered back, forming his lips in a thin line.
'Now let's get to business, I found a perfect plan that will break them apart. So-" she started getting cut off by him.
'There is no need to for that again"
'What?" she stopped her action focusing her attention on Amir who was calm as he went on again.
'I have decided that I would embrace my destiny. Breaking them apart won't do us any good, so it's better to stop. The right ones will come for us Insha Allah" Minal couldn't believe her ears. Just yesterday he was keen on getting Zara and now he's telling her they should not go ahead with it.
Folding her arms across the chest, she leans back on the seat. 'We haven't even begun the plan, and you're giving up already. This is your chance, our chance to get what we want" She spoke in a low voice. 'The marriage is in one week time, we don't have time to waste. I-" Amir abruptly stood up not wanting to hear any more of her talk.
'I assigned you for this work and now I don't want to go ahead with it. So I want you to stop whatever plan you're working on. I will pay you the remaining money, you can go back home since you don't have any more business" With that being said, he walked past her, ready to get out of the café when her voice resonates to his ears.
'Well since you decided to back out, I will now work on my own accord. As I said, I want Fawwaz and this is the right time to claim him" Amir turned to her in outrage. A smirk dangled at the corner of her lips.
'Don't even think of doing anything. I have made myself clear that I will back off, so you should also back out. Fawwaz will never be your as Zara will not be mine too. There's no use in fighting for someone or something that you will never get. Instead of fighting for him, rather focus on getting someone who will love and respect you. Please Minal don't do anything. You're a nice girl and Insha Allah you will get someone better than Fawwaz. Think about what I said. Allah Hafiz" Without waiting for her reply, he sprinted out.
Upon entering his car, he let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. One problem was solved. He hopes she would heed to the advice and not go along with the plan. Now, he only has one thing to solve. Just then his phone vibrates from his pocket.
I'm at the bakery
It says. After his talk with his mom, he texted Sumayya about meeting with her. Setting the phone beside him, he ignites the engine to life and drove off to Zara's bakery.
**
The car came to a halt in front of the bakery. His eyes scanned the place, memories of what transpired inside ran through his head. Come to think of it. He did so many things to Zara. The look on her face when he uttered those harsh words in front of the customers. The real intention was to get her customers but his heart took over him now he regrets all his actions and words. He prays everything will go back to normal soon. Pushing the door open, he was met with a quiet place and a young girl cleaning the tables.
'Good day Sir" the girl trekked towards him. By one look at her, you will know she works there. So much has happened, Amir. His mind mentally tells him.
'Good day. Is.." he didn't finish completing his statement when he spotted her.
'It's okay Amy, he's here to see me" Sumayya ushered dismissing her. The girl bowed down slightly, before walking away back to her work.
'It's been a while, Amir," she said taking the seat facing him.
'Yes, it is. How have you been?"
'Alhamdulillah. Normal as always" Amir went on silent not knowing how to start and the fact that Sumayya kept staring at him made him more nervous than he is at the moment.
'Um...Do you want me to bring something for you?" she inquired trying to start a conversation. She was about to stand up when he halted her.
'No, it's okay. I want to ask you for a favor" he ushered.
'Feel free"
'I want to apologize to Zara and I know you are the only one who can help me. If I approach her directly, I know she won't listen to me. So will you please do me a favor? I realized you don't always get what you want, so I will embrace this saying" he ended with a deep sigh.
'Don't worry, I know your unbreakable bond will not severe with Zara. You two are best friends. I will call her now" A smile made it way out of Sumayya's lips. She's glad the old Amir is finally coming back. Maybe, just maybe she will have a chance. Besides as the saying goes, never lose hope.
'And one more thing," he said again breaking her out of the little thought. Sumayya nodded her head as she waited for him to speak.
'Do you like me?"
