Chapter thirty nine
It was morning. A day in her husband's house. A day she and Fawwaz became one. A day she will cherish forever. A day for two of them. Folding the prayer mat and also at the same time Fawwaz entered the room.
"Assalamu Alaikum" he started in one of his most calm voice. Zara glanced at him and averted her eyes again.
"Wa Alaikum salam" she replied back. Fawwaz noticed her unusual voice which made a smile out of his face. Trekking towards the wardrobe, where she was standing rummaging through the clothe, he hugged her from behind resting his head on her neck.
"Is my princess angry at me this early morning" he muttered. Zara kept mute and continue skimming through. He knew what he did last night and now he's talking about her being angry at him when he was the one who said he would be gentle and there's nothing like gentle from him. Thinking about the night makes her cringe.
"I'm sorry if you're angry because of last night. Besides, we both agreed to it so no need to frown about it. We have become one now. You're my princess and I'm your prince". The way he whispered to her ears, made a shiver down her spine. He's making it hard for her to focus on what she is doing.
"I didn't say I'm angry did I?" She let out a smile when she finally locates the dresses she has been searching for. She lightly nudges him but by his tight hold around her body, couldn't get him off her body.
"Okay I've forgiven you so can you let me go now?" Fawwaz turned her around, caging her between his arms by placing both palms on the wardrobe door. His face a mili inch away from her as he whispers out.
"If I'm forgiven, then can I?" Her body shivers by his voice perching through her ears.
"Do... What?" She stuttered out. She didn't miss the beating of his heart as she places her palms on his chest.
"Kiss you" Zara stared at him in thinking. He said the exact word last night and they ended up doing more than kissing.
"No you can't" His face slightly fell hearing her rejection. She has no idea how attractive her lips are to him that whenever she smiles, he feels like...
The words didn't get to make themselves out of his lips when he felt her lips on his. She pulled apart before he could react to the kiss. A giggle erupts from her lips.
"It's a good morning greeting from me to you" Fawwaz finds himself smiling too. A pile of silence fell on them as they stare at each other with so much love and tenderness in their eyes. Fawwaz ran his thumb around her face. From her eyebrows down to her chin then stopping at her lips. He stared at them for some seconds before snapping back to her eyes. Using one hand to pull her to his body, he cupped her face with the other staring directly at her face.
"Words could not express how happy and lucky I am to have a beautiful yet brave woman like you. Witnessing this day is a dream come true for me. I never know what caring for someone is but meeting and falling in love with you is the best thing I could ever wish to happen to me. I love and care for you more than you can imagine. You mean a lot to me. You are an important part of my life and also my responsibility. I love you princess and will always do" Zara stared into his eyes seeing the swirl of emotions in them. She could see the love he has for her in his eyes. Letting out a mild breath, she cupped his face too with both her palms.
"Alhamdulillah Fawwaz. I'm happy to be part of your life. I'm happy that I got married to a gentle yet respectable man like you. I have never imagined a day will come where I would be standing in front of someone I love, someone I care for. Someone who stole my heart away with his carefree and diligent personality. There's nothing more I will say than Alhamdulillah. Because Allah has given me what I will be thankful and grateful for. May Allah protect our love"
Fawwaz pulled her to his chest muttering an Ameen. Zara heaved out a relaxed breath. Cherishing the new moment they shared from last night up to today.

At Amir and Sumayya's house.
Sumayya in the kitchen preparing breakfast for them. Everything was stocked in the fridge. She will just choose what to make. Since she doesn't know what Amir's favorite food is, she decided to make a scrambled egg with toasted bread. All through her work, someone standing by the door is watching her every movement. Amir cleared out his voice making himself known. Sumayya instantly turned around her heart did a flip when her eyes met with his. His arms were folded across the chest while he treks standing right in front of her with a little space left between them.
"I... Was just checking out how you cook" he started scratching the back of his head. Mentally scolding himself for acting dumb in front of her. You are now married to her Amir are you going to keep acting like you two are strangers? Only Allah knows how awkward he was last night. He could not even bring himself to look at her though he tried his best to start a conversation which at last didn't reach anywhere when she started zoning off, he knew it was due to his boring talks. There were comfortable back then and now that they are married he is acting weird. He has to do something. She is now his wife. He needs to learn to be around her always and to love her. He leaped forward just in time, she also leaps forward. Before he could process it, She lunges into his body which caught him off guard. His heart escalates as be stood rooted to the ground not knowing what to do or say.
"I know why you're acting unusual. It is because of your heart right?" She muttered. Hearing silence from him made her continue. "Make yourself comfortable around me because I'm your wife and you're my husband. We are tangled together forever. I know it will take time before you fall in love with me with-" Her body was being jerked off slowly followed by his fingers on her lips.
"Don't. I have dejected her out of my heart since the moment I agreed to get married to you. You're right, I'm acting unusual and that is because I don't want to rush things that will make you think that I'm just doing it for attention. No. I want us to take things slow. Baby steps. That way we can experience good and new things together. Me and you. So to begin our new life, will you, Sumayya do the favor of becoming my friend?"
"We are friends already right?" She questioned raising one brow. She's not sure if they are friends back then. She just blurted it out.
"We are friends back in our single life and we would be friends in our marriage life. You in?" Amir outstretched her hands, a smile tugged at the corner of his lips. It takes her two seconds to come to a decision. Why wouldn't she agree? After all, he's her husband. Her first love. Placing her hands on his outstretched one's, Amir nodded his head letting out yet another smile. They stared at each other when suddenly Amir smells something.
"It's like something is burning," he said accessing the place. Sumayya's eyes widened when realization hit her. She quickly switched off the toasting machine. For some known reasons, both broke into a fit of laughter.
"I think we have to toast another bread," he said.
"Yeah" he was about to reach for the bread when his hands were smacked away.
"No I'll do it" she declared grabbing the bread instead.
"But I want to help" the expression on his face as he said it made a chuckle escape her lips.
"Thank you but I prefer to work on my own in the kitchen. And besides, if I allow you to help me, another bread will get burnt"
"And why?" He asked teasingly.
"Your presence will be a distraction to me. Does it answer your curiosity?" Amir shakes his shoulder in return.
"Okay wait for me at the dining. I will be done before you know it" her lips form a thin line as she directed. Amir turned to leave then stop again.
"Sumayya" he called. She raised one of her brows in question.
"Thank you". And he left, without waiting for her answer.
"Thank you too Amir for giving me the happiness I think I don't deserve. For marrying me."
"And here comes your toasted bread, scrambled egg, and hot cranberry tea". She announced placing the tray in front of him. Amir perceives the aroma.
"It smells nice"
"Well taste it and see for yourself". She waited for him to take a bite.
"How is it?" She asked after he took a bite of the scrambled egg. His eyes were shut as he takes in the sweetness of it.
"I love it. Thanks for the feast. May Allah bless you"
"Ameen. And by the way, what time are we meeting with them? Zara and Fawwaz" Amir and Fawwaz hosted a little party for the family to celebrate Jawad and Farah 23rd marriage anniversary and also for themselves as the newly weds.
"Insha Allah by 8 pm"
