In this run-down rental, a dude with a black hat pulled low, muscles bulging, and an eagle tattoo on his arm was pacing around.
"You remember what to say, right?"
"Yeah, I got it."
I was hanging on by a thread.
The call went through.
"Your daughter Rachel Green is with me..."
"Dad..."
The moment he heard my name, he hung up.
He tried calling again.
"I don't have any money. Just keep my daughter."
He tried once more, but my dad's phone was off.
Everyone in the room was staring at me.
"Jason, what now?" They all turned to him.
Later, I found out his name was Jason.
Jason Wright looked at me, stubbed out his cigarette, and in a raspy voice said, "Toss her into the sea."
