Chapter 12
Honestly, my first thought was, even if these guys are bad, they can't be worse than him, right?
Jason and his brothers had this car repair shop on Liberty Road, and man, the scenery there was something else.
Everyone was shocked to see me stroll in.
"Rachel, what brings you here? Came to see me?" Uncle Bear piped up.
I'd been around for two months, and he was always there when we played Texas Hold'em at home.
"Mind your own business, Boss just brought Doll out for some fresh air. What's it to you?"
"Yeah, watch it or Boss might kick you out."
Jason shot them a glare, "I hire you here to gossip? You guys want to lose your paychecks? "
The crew went dead silent.
"Get back to work," Uncle Bear reminded everyone, "Rachel, come sit here."
"He's talking to you!" Jason snapped at him, clearly annoyed.
Uncle Bear got spooked and scurried off.
"Why are you staring at me?" Jason turned to me as I kept my eyes on him.
"Has anyone ever told you you're kinda scary?" I stood there, feeling like he was way too intense. Even his own brothers seemed scared of him.
"I just give them work orders, how's that scary? Who do you think isn't scary?" He looked down at me with a playful smirk.
"Uncle Bear doesn't seem scary," I mumbled, not daring to say more. I was scared of him too.
"Then go follow him," he said, kicking a stool and walking off.
