Chapter 15

After rinsing out the towel and getting my head straight, I headed back out to wash the cars again. This road didn't see much traffic, but business was booming.

I'd been here a week, and honestly, life felt pretty damn good. Seeing my work diary fill up and the cash rolling in, I got this weird sense of accomplishment.

"Writing everything down, huh? So childish." Jason always gave me crap when he caught me scribbling in my diary.

"My dad always said, 'If you're not the sharpest tool in the shed, you better use a pen more and make it a habit,'" I mumbled, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"Why's he always calling you dumb? How smart is he, anyway?" Jason shot back, then answered his own question, "Oh right, he's a genius, isn't he? Owes me money, never pays up, and even ditched his own daughter."

"God, his math skills are top-notch," he added sarcastically.

"I'm sorry," I said, but I didn't know what to do. If I ever saw him again, I'd definitely make him pay you back, but... will I ever saw him again?

"If you know you're in the wrong, then don't make things harder for me. Just behave," he said, messing up my hair.
After he finished, we both just stood there, frozen.

"What are you staring at? Can't an elder touch your head?" he snapped at me.

I sighed, "Yeah, but uncle, if you do that, I..."

"What? What'll happen?"

"I'll have dreams."

My face turned beet red after saying that. In the past 18 years, I rarely dreamt about boys. Most of my dreams were about my dad yelling at me for screwing up. Dreaming about Jason so often was a first.

"What kind of dreams? Am I in them?" He was sharp enough to make me blush even more.

"Um," I nodded honestly.

"How am I in the dream? Scolding you? Bullying you?"

Did he bully me? I thought back carefully. Was his behavior considered bullying?

"Yeah, kind of" I nodded, feeling a bit wronged.

"I've taken care of you for so long, and you never dream of me being nice? Seriously, even if I scold you, I never hit you, right?" He still felt innocent.

But maybe my idea of bullying was different from his.

"Am I really that fierce?" Finally, he couldn't help but ask.

"Yes."
