Chapter 11
As the sun goes down, the early evening came with fresh air that is very refreshing. Wolfariane walked out of his tower into the wild zone that is the heart of Naturiah.
He favored a good walk on a nice evening, to clear his mind a bit before he goes hunting.
Passing packmate homes and dwellings which give way to trailing edges of the forests and walking through the woods, he isn't surprised to see so many young children goofing around; laughing, and playing chase.
Some of them were in their animal forms. Kittens, puppies, and cubs chased each other while screaming loudly, some of them were fighting and scratching each other. When a certain group of cubs saw him, they ran toward him with joy and excitement.
"Alpha King!" The boys shrieked as they flooded him while the cubs reached him faster because they are in their animal form, and threw themselves at him.
He caught as few as he could, while the others climbed his body. Some held on to any part of his evening garment they could grab.
"No tearing, no shredding, no scratching." He said his usual mantra to them whenever they flooded him, smiling at them with the love of an Alpha to his packmates. Love of a King to his people.
These children are the only creatures that can easily make him smile. They love him so much, most of them are not afraid of him.
He loves them just as much, protects them, and is so possessive of them all, even though he has no intentions of having any child of his own.
No mate. No child. Ever.
A few minutes later, the children said goodbye in their own ways before they deserted him to go off back to their playing in the wilds.
Normally, the sight of a cub away with a football in his mouth as his friends tried to bite down on his tail would’ve made Wolfariane smile and try to join their play. But not today.
His skin was too tight over his body, his own wolf prowling inside him like a predator.
"Alpha King!" A familiar female voice said behind him.
Wolfariane turned to see Flaora, a beautiful brunette in her late twenties, with a smile that lit up her whole face, her amber eyes glistening. "Good evening, Alpha King." She bowed to him.
"How are you today, Flaora?" He walked closer and touched her cheek. She is the only person he can closely call a 'friend' in the pack.
"I am fine. I haven't heard from you in a while, I was so worried. But, I heard you went to the non-changeling world. I miss the non-changeling world." She paused, "You wish to come home with me and tell me all about it?
"Not today, Flaora, I need to hunt." He began walking again, and she joined him, "Someone took something that belongs to me."
"Oh." She nodded in understanding, "Can I lead you to the wild forest?"
Wolfariane knows Flaora has harbored a love for him in her heart for a long time, she likes being with him whenever she can.
That love is the reason he stopped going to her for séxual intimacy, knowing fully well that it's unfair to her because he doesn't feel the same way for her.
He doubts that he can ever love any female that way. In fact, he knows for sure that is he incapable of loving anybody in that way.
"Alright, you can walk with me." He agreed because she was pack. Family.
A smile split her lips, she placed her hand on his muscled forearm and held on as they walked. "Thank you, Alpha King."
As they walked, she cleared her throat, "When will you be back?"
"When my hunt is successful."
"I really hope it wouldn't take long." Smiling at the blue sky, she added, "Come to my place when you return. Please?"
They reached the wild forest, and he turned and faced her. "Hang in there, Flaora. You are a very beautiful woman. One day, you will meet with your mate, until then, hang in there."
Her features softened. "I live and breathe for that day, Alpha King. But, until he comes along, I am willing to be there to ease you always. Granted, I have never been able to satisfy that insatiable hunger of your wolf, but I know that I do my best."
"You do," he agreed, "But we meet only when necessary, Flaora. I will not take advantage of what you think you feel for me." Unbiddenly, his mind went to a certain sassy woman with the smile of an angel and the body of a goddess.
No, he need not think of her. Their paths will not cross again.
His mission this time around is simple;
Punish the man who dared to steal his ring. And, get his ring back.
Just thinking of his ring filled him with rage. "Step back," He commanded.
Flaora stepped back.
Wolfariane shifted forms. A huge white werewolf over seven feet tall, stood where the man occupied a few seconds ago. The wolf raised his head to the sky and howled loudly.
Flaora knelt before the huge wolf and bowed her head in greeting. "Safe hunt, Alpha King."
Head inclined in acknowledgment to the greeting, his ears peek too.
Then, he turned and took off in a dead run.

Ismena will like to say that she's having a nice evening, but she doesn't want to lie to herself—why bother lying to herself when she will die soon anyway?
Her evening sucks balls, and it's not as if she isn't trying to have fun. In fact, she's doing her very best.
At TAO Nightclub, the music was too high, the sounds of cheering almost louder than the music. A man sat opposite her, making a conversation with her, lust in his eyes.
Wait. What's his name again?
"Wait, what's that your name again!?" She shouted above the music.
"Taren! That's the third time you're asking!" He shouted right back.
"Forgive me for that. I have a poor brain behind these beautiful features!" She joked, but in truth, her mind is just divided. She's having a hard time trying not to think about the handsome Big Bad Wolfe she met three nights ago.
Damn, the man is spending a lot of time in her mind these days.
"Not to worry! What do you say we go to a more quiet place!?"
Taren is good-looking, she'll give it to him. He's also doing his best to be a gentleman all evening since he walked up to her and she really does wanna get laid. "Alright, let's go!"
They walked out of the club together, to the opposite side of the hotel that has 'The Bar' written in bold. letters at the top of it. It was quiet inside, with a few couples spread out in the bar, drinking.
They walked to the dark side of the bar and settled down there. "One minute, please." Taren excused himself and began walking towards the counter to order them a drink.
"Please get me water only. Water or orange juice." No way she's drinking any alcohol again.
The thought of alcohol brought the image of her dark knight in frowning armor right back into her mind. Wetness pooled in between her legs, her body went hot.
"Heavens, Ismena, Jesus Christ. This kind of lust is waaaay abnormal, especially for you," she muttered to herself, squeezing her legs together. Even in high school, when every girl's libido is so high, she never lusted on any man then. "Get it together girl!" She chided herself.
Watching Taren as he ordered their drinks, her eyes followed the bartender as he poured her orange juice into a glass cup and handed it to Taren.
"Too bad you stole from the man, if not you can at least cross your legs and pray for another coincidental meeting with me. But seeing him means trouble for you, so you can't even hope on that." Taking a deep breath, she shook her head, "Anyway, you have this good-looking guy for tonight to help you forget all about him.
