Chapter 23 – Lights
After the castle tour, I asked Diesel if I could spend some time alone in the library and he walked me back over to it. I stepped inside and admired the general splendor of this beautifully crafted Library. The room was round, with dark wooden shelfs that were lined with books three stories high. It had two large sliding wooden ladders and a beautiful fireplace. There were two large study tables in the middle, with computers and several deep armchairs around the room.
I found the section on werewolf history and pulled several books down. The fireplace was already stacked with wood, so I lit a match and brought the fire to full. I sank into a cozy armchair by the fireplace flipping through books and reading page after page. I had just finished reading about the rare white wolf. I turned the page to read about a wolf even more rare than a white wolf—
“The Golden Wolf.” Diesel’s voice came from over my shoulder. I had been so engrossed with the book that I didn’t sense him entering the Library. “Are you reading up on myths?” He asked sounding amused.
“Lots of fascinating things to read up on. I was hoping to find more information on elemental wolfs.” I said.
“There’s very little you’ll find in books. My father helped me train and expand my power. I’m sure he would be happy to help work with you as well.”
“That would be wonderful.” I smiled.
“Come, we’re having dinner at a special spot. Leave the books on the chair, no one will touch them.” He grabbed my hand and led the way.
We were on the top floor of the northern tower, where our room was. Diesel stopped and pulled a small door open that went further up into the tower.
We climbed the dark circular stairs and reached another door. Diesel smiled and held the door open for me. It was the pointy cone shaped room at the top of the northern tower. There were several telescopes in the corner and star charts on one side of the wall. In the center of the room was a table with the glow of a single candle and dinner plates set up.
“This is the astronomy observatory.” He flipped a switch on the wall and the metal roof started to retract back. Moments later, we stood in a glass top room with a beautiful view of a crescent moon and stars. There wasn’t a cloud in sight.
“Do you like it?” He asked as he took my hand and seated me at the table. “It’s amazing, I can see the stars so clearly.”
“If you look towards the north on clear nights like this, you’ll be able to see the Aurora Borealis.”
My breath hitched. “The Northern Lights!”
He gave me a wide smile. “This is the best view in the house!”
He uncovered our plates and we had Lasagna, Tuscan vegetables and garlic bread knots for dinner. He poured me a glass of water and also offered me wine.
“I’ve never had wine before.” I blushed.
“Would you like to try some of mine?” He offered his glass. I took it and had a small sip. It tingled my tongue before I swallowed it.
“It’s not bad.” I smiled and he poured me a small glass.
We ate our dinner and pointed out stars and constellations in the sky. He tried to convince me that the Sirius constellation was actually a great Alpha wolf and not a dog. I gawked and awed at the light show the northern lights put on.
We finished with dinner and Diesel uncovered chocolate cannoli for dessert. I’ve seen cannoli’s before but have never had them. “That looks delicious!” I practically drooled and Diesel brought a fork full across the table to feed me.
“A girl could get used to this.” Lia said to me.
I smiled wide and Diesel brought another fork full to my mouth. It was so good, I let out a low moan and Diesel gave me a low growl in response. “I’ll be sure to give your complements to Helga.” He laughed.
“This is just so amazing.” I looked out and the view was breathtaking.
“When my father was a pup, he would often have sleepovers in this room, it was his favorite room in the castle.”
“Ohh that sounds wonderful, I would love to sleep up here!” I said dreamingly.
I stood up and went to the glass edge. I wondered, since my father and Alpha Knox grew up together, how many times he slept up here under the same glass walls. Now I was destined to be Luna of Crescent Moon and this castle felt like home. Diesel stood behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. I leaned my head back on his chest. I looked out and saw the lights from pack houses and family homes scattered across the land. The mountains were snowcapped, and everything looked picturesque.
I looked to the West and saw what looked like a small town. “That’s the village over there.” He told me. “It’s completely owned by the pack; we rarely get humans this far in the mountains. My favorite Chinese food restaurant is there.” He smiled.
“I love Chinese food!”
“We’ll have to take you there soon.”
Someone knocked on the door. “Come in.” Diesel called out and a woman entered to take the plates away. She was followed in by two butlers, one
who carried a mattress and the other who carried bedding and pillows. They moved the table out of the center of the room and placed the mattress down. I looked over at Diesel and he grinned at me. “Your wish is my command.”
He took my hand and brought me to the mattress in the middle of the room. “It can get cold up here at night, but we’ve got thick blankets.” He pulled me into his chest, he smelled intoxicating.
“Since it was your idea to sleep in the astronomy tower Lucy, I’m willing to share my body heat with you.” He laughed. “Body heat works best without clothes and I want to make sure my little mate is snug and warm.” He said and pulled his shirt off.
This man was panty dropping, chiseled perfection, I thought to myself. “He sure is!” Lia purred in my head.
He reached for the bottom of my sweater and started lifting it up. “I promise not to bite, unless you want me to.”
“I DO, I DO!” Lia panted in my head. “Control yourself Lia.” I told her.
He took another step closer to me and inhaled my scent, I could feel the heat radiating off his body. I lifted my arms up giving him permission to undress me. My sweater was gone, and he pulled me into a hug reaching for my bra hooks. He planted a kiss between my neck and shoulder where his mark was supposed to go. I swear my knees almost buckled under me.
My bra fell to the ground and I felt so exposed in the glass room. He sat me down on the mattress and pulled off my boots and socks slowly. Then he stood up and kicked off his shoes and socks. I don’t know where I found the courage, but I reached up and unbuckled his jeans and slid them to the floor. I heard another growl from deep within his chest. He stepped out of the jeans and knelt down in front of me, wearing nothing but his boxer briefs.
He laid me back on the mattress and unbuckled my jeans. He pulled them off slowly and sat back on his heals to take me in. My arms instinctively crossed over my chest.
“Don’t hide from me Lucy, you are absolutely beautiful.” He positioned himself over me and looked deep into my eyes, as if looking into my soul. His lips softly kissed mine and he placed a few more kisses on my neck and down my shoulder.
He reached down and peeled off the last shred of clothing I had on. He pulled the blankets back and I crawled in. When he removed his boxers, I found myself desperately wanting to look at him but kept my eyes on the moon.
“Little one, this is all yours. You’re free to look as much as you want and have anything, anytime you want.” His husky voice teased me and I felt heat pulsing through my body.
He lifted the covers up and I felt my ass exposed when he climbed in next to me. I wanted him in every way, right here, right now. But, I knew I needed to wait, I was broken, and he deserved to know what he was getting. I have to find the courage to tell him what happened at Dark Moon and pray he doesn’t reject me.
Diesel reached for me and closed the gap, his arm snaked around my waist. My back was pressed into his chest and we were buried under heavy blankets together, naked. Everything felt so right with him. Like two pieces of a puzzle finally coming together. We laid quiet for a while and watched the northern lights dance beautifully across the sky before drifting off to sleep.
