Chapter 24 Are We About to Be Exposed?

Seraphina's Perspective:

"Why the sudden interest in my kid?" I shot a suspicious look at the man in front of me. "You're not planning to use my child to get back at me, are you?"

"Of course not," Silas replied, his face still wearing that same disdainful look. "I'm just curious about how much our kids look alike, to the point where we could mix them up."

"No way!" I snapped, my tone turning icy. "Our issues are between us adults. There's no need to drag the kids into this. If you insist on involving them, then our cooperation ends right here!"

My kids are my last line of defense. No one messes with them, not even Silas, the Alpha King.

"Alright!" Silas chuckled, maybe a bit surprised by how fiercely I defended my family. He didn't push it further. Instead, he said, "Since you won't let me see your child, how about I invite you to see mine?"

"I don't have as many reservations as you do, but I have to admit," Silas continued, a hint of admiration in his eyes, "I respect how fiercely you protect your kids. You must be a great mom, much better than my son's awful birth mother."
His words took me aback. Instead of feeling flattered, I was filled with even more questions.

Sure, I wanted to see how much our kids looked alike, but what if he insisted on seeing my child afterward? If he had no bad intentions, fine. But what if this was just a trick to make me let my guard down?

As I hesitated, he added, "Don't overthink it. I'm just inviting you to my place to see my son. I promise, if you don't invite me to see your child, I won't show up in front of them. How about that?"

Looking at the man in front of me, who seemed so sincere, I didn't know how to respond. It was about my most precious treasure. I couldn't make a decision lightly.

Silas laughed at my cautious demeanor, his eyes reflecting emotions I couldn't quite read.

"To show my sincerity, I'll call home right now and let my son talk to you. After all, you two have met before, haven't you?"
"When did we?" Silas's words puzzled me. Before I could figure it out, he had already taken out his phone and dialed his home, motioning for me to follow him.

Confused by his actions, I had no choice but to follow him and get into the car parked outside.

The car started slowly, heading toward his home.

"Is Alex home? Let him take the call," Silas said to the person on the other end of the line.

I watched the scenery flash by outside the window, feeling a bit regretful for impulsively getting into his car. What if he wasn't taking me to his home?

Just as I was about to ask the driver to stop, a familiar, childish voice came through the phone. "Dad."

I froze and looked at the phone in shock. Wasn't that Lucas's voice?

Lucas's Perspective:

After Alex's grandma Ray brought me back, I hid in my room, feeling restless.

I had planned to switch back with Alex at the hotel, but Ray showed up. To avoid ruining our plan, I had no choice but to follow her home.

As soon as we got back, I saw Cecilia waiting at the door, crying to Ray about how hard her life had been.
Her crying was so annoying that I retreated to my room. But once I was alone, I felt uneasy and guilty.

Cecilia had been crying to Ray, saying that she had raised Alex, protected him and that she was his mother. It was all very upsetting to hear.

Thinking about it now, Cecilia did have some merit. Whether her intentions were genuine or not, she had taken care of Alex for a long time. But she was also truly bad. Last time, she mistook me for Alex and almost drowned me in the pool.

I sighed, fiddling with the airplane model on my desk, my mind a tangled mess.

Just then, a servant knocked on the door and walked in with a phone.

"Alex, Silas is calling for you."

Hearing that Silas was calling, my frustration eased a bit. If worse came to worst, I would talk to Dad when he got back and ask him to give Cecilia more compensation, as long as she didn't get to be Mom.

Thinking this, I quickly took the phone and asked happily, "Dad, when are you coming back?"

There was a few seconds of silence on the other end. Just as I was starting to wonder, a hesitant voice came through. "Lucas?"

It was Mom's voice! I was stunned.
