Chapter 36: Kiss and Make Up
It didn’t feel like they’d been driving for several hours but they had been.
Everybody was catching their thoughts, their breaths, their attitude towards the power of the attacks against them. Would they be safe anywhere?
Amelia seemed to think so.
She leaned over from the backseat and said, “Okay, down this driveway.”
The car rattled down a secluded dirt road that was nearly a mile long until the trio found themselves at a cabin covered by crooked trees. The moon shimmered over the water of the large lake at the foot of the hill the cabin resided on, and it gave Silvana an uneasy feeling in her gut.
“Isn’t this the cabin Kurt got you?” Silvana asked, parking the car and killing the engine.
“My brother got you a cabin?” Bruce asked, startled. “With what money?”
Amelia looked at him, brushed her hair over her shoulder and responded, “Apparently he’s got some side hustles. My first red flag.”
Bruce dragged his feet and stretched his big arms after being cooped up in the back seat.
“What was your second red flag?” he asked honestly and with a chuckle.
Amelia massaged her legs, shook out her feet and told him, “He never looked at me the way you look at Silvana.”
Silvana and Bruce both smiled deeply towards one another.
“Which is why,” Amelia continued, you two are heading right upstairs into the master bedroom to kiss and make up.”
Blushing at her friend’s admiration of her relationship, Silvana asked, “How did you know there was something up between us?”
Amelia went to blow a bubble with gum but she didn’t have any. She was so used to having little treats and luxuries on her person, but now she contemplated if she’d ever have anything extraordinary outside of the dusty furniture in her old log cabin.
“Uh, Sylvie,” Amelia said, heading towards the cabin. “I just sat for two and a half hours in the strangest, most uncomfortable and awkward silence between you two after we got chased by lightning produced by the spirit of an evil witch. You know, kind of a talking point. So I could tell something was going on.”
She shooed her hands. “So, you know, go hash it out.”
“We need to tend to your wounds before anything,” Bruce insisted, pointing to the slash marks on Amelia’s arm.
“Honey, that’s what magic is for,” Amelia said, showing that the skin was already starting to heal and come together after she had casted her healing spell. “What I need is a hot shower, fuzzy pajamas, hot tea, and the assurance that you two will be rainbows and butterflies soon.”
Silvana snuggled herself under Bruce’s arm and gripped it with both hands.
“I think we can make that promise,” Silvana said. Amelia beamed and Bruce brought Silvana closer.
When Amelia opened the door to the cabin, Bruce and Silvana both got unsafe vibes. From the lack of lights to the creaking wooden floor, from the old and tarnished paintings on the wall to the rusty metal on the inside of a ticking grandfather clock, things didn’t feel right.
“Looks like Kurt got you a fixer-upper,” Bruce quipped.
Amelia laughed and said, “I know, and it’s a good thing I know my way around a makeover. I mean, you should’ve seen how nerdy Silvana dressed before she met me. And how she wore her hair in this wacky messy bun.”
Bruce gave Silvana a little squeeze and said, “I don’t know, that sounds kind of cute.”
“Thanks babe,” Silvana whispered, but not really paying attention to the teasing. It was starting to feel like things were getting back to normal with her and Bruce, but there was still the uneasiness from the cabin. Silvana was scanning every inch of the walls and the corners of the rooms for something out of the ordinary. She felt a presence yet couldn’t locate it.
“Are you sure this place is safe?” Silvana asked. “I mean, if Kurt got it for you, isn’t there some way he could’ve--”
“Believe me, Sylvia,” Amelia said. “I Kurt-proofed this place after he started getting shady with me.”
Amelia let out a soft and cute whistle and the entire house lit up with green symbols and markings etched into the walls, on the floors, and on the ceilings.
“I might not be battle-ready like you, dearest,” Amelia said with a tinge of boastful pride, “But I sure can keep a place on lockdown.”
She wagged a finger and said, “These sigils that look like a half moon inside wreathes of dill plant are meant to ward off werewolves.”
Amelia shot Bruce an intimidating glance and said, “That means no werewolves could possibly get close to stepping inside this place.”
She got really cute and bubbly then added, “Unless I want them to, Brucie. So go make up with my best friend before I turn your wolf hide into leather.”
“Message received,” Bruce laughed with a smirk.
She blew him a kiss and headed upstairs. “I’m taking a shower. Show yourselves to the master bedroom, take any clothes you need, and make yourselves at home. We’ll all congregate in an hour to determine our next move.”
Silvana sighed and said, “Honestly, I’m hoping we can squeeze some rest in.”
“I’ve got the feeling we’ll be brewing a lot of coffee tonight,” Bruce said.
He picked Silvana up off her feet and carried her wedding style up the main wooden staircase.
“This is the part where we’re supposed to kiss and make up,” he said charmingly.
Silvana joyfully exhaled as a thrilling jolt shuddered through her.
“We need a vacation when all this is finished,” she muttered, resting her ear to his chest. They paused at the top of the stairs and Silvana brought her lips onto his, filling him with so much passionate fire he couldn’t bring himself to pull away.
He was distracted with his lover and the feeling of her sharp breathes in his mouth that he forgot about what he had found off the highway, and about Solaris’s ring in his back pocket.
Only when the two needed to breathe did Bruce look warmly into Silvana’s eyes, remove his wet lips from hers, and give her a little bounce in his arms so she giggled.
“So where would we go on vacation?” Bruce asked, bringing them into the master bedroom with its own fireplace, a cozy quilted rug, and big, warm bed.
“Somewhere away from the snow,” Silvana said. She winked at the fireplace and the logs erupted, warming the room.
“You’ve been getting a lot stronger,” Bruce commented, admiring her new strength. It made him feel secure in his pursuit of her love that she was the strongest of witches he’d seen.
That is, beside Cecilia Duponte.
“Well you look like you’ve been getting stronger yourself, handsome,” Silvana said.
She scratched the back of his head and tossed his tough brown hair through her fingers.
“You know ever since we slept together after that full moon and my transformation, I’ve been feeling a lot stronger,” Bruce grinned. “Almost like whatever gave you all that magic and made your eyes turn pink stayed inside me.”
Bruce set her down and they made for the bathroom connected to the bedroom.
“Well,” Silvana said, “I saw you transform your hand into a claw back in my house when you were fighting the spirits. I imagine that takes quite a lot of control.”
Bruce held a closed fist before his nose and said, “It’s practically unheard amongst werewolves to partially transform. But I feel like I could do it at any point.”
He slid Silvana’s shirt sleeve down her shoulder and she unbuttoned his shirt.
“And I feel that same strength when I’m with you,” Bruce remarked.
Silvana ran her fingers down his abs and then hugged him. She spoke to him directly and said, “I didn’t get to apologize back in my house. I’m sorry for flipping out on you.”
“I already told you,” Bruce laughed. “It’s okay, and I get it. New powers don’t just snap under our control in an instant.”
They both dropped each other’s shirts to the bathroom floor, ran their hands upon the other’s sexy body, and leaned in close to kiss.
“Whatever the excuse,” Silvana said, losing her breath as he tickled the side of her neck with his lips, “I’m sorry for lashing out at you.”
Bruce reached over to turn the shower on and unbuttoned his pants. He was looking at Silvana like he could eat her and Silvana licked her lips.
She yanked Bruce’s plaid boxers down his muscular legs and with one hand he pulled off her bra.
“It’s a shame,” Bruce said with a wink, sliding the shower door open and stepping inside. He cupped her perfect breasts in his hands. “I was hoping you’d lash out at me again tonight.”
Silvana joined him in the shower, smiling wide, and shut the door behind her.
Steam surrounded them both and Silvana told Bruce to lay on the shower tile as warm, soapy water pooled around them. She fixed her hair to one side and fit her open mouth around his throbbing erection, then slid Bruce deep into the back of her throat, lifting her eyes only to watch him wiggle in ecstasy.
Bruce grabbed the back of Silvana’s head and muttered through a moaning exhalation, “Oh babe that feels so good.”
She loved the way he tasted, and the more he reacted and groaned with pleasure the faster she moved her head back and forth, until eventually she planted her palms on his thighs and started to kiss his shaft.
“Just like that,” Bruce moaned. “I love it when you suck my cock.”
It was in the middle of the best blowjob of his life that Bruce suddenly remembered he had the ring of this woman’s missing father in the pocket of his crumpled jeans on the bathroom floor.
“Silvana,” Bruce huffed, his eyes in the back of his head. He could barely focus. “There’s something I need to tell you.”
“I love you,” she said, slipping her lips off his cock and stroking him.
“I love you too,” he smirked, unable to remain composed as she held him in her hands and worked him so well. “But this is important.”
“Whatever it is,” Silvana said, “it can wait.”
She climbed on top of Bruce and sat down on his boner, making his head fall back as she opened her mouth wide and felt every inch of him move inside her.
“Really, babe, I need to tell you something,” Bruce pleaded.
But Silvana continued, and she moaned softly as she set her hands on his shoulders and thrust up and down, riding him in such a way that she felt perfectly joined to him.
Silvana clenched her teeth and thought about all her frustrations and confusion towards the ever-changing events of her life, and she wanted to do nothing more than fuck away all her problems. She humped Bruce and he couldn’t resist any longer, and when he started to clap his thighs against hers and shout that he loved her, biting at her neck and clawing at her back, Silvana was on the cusp of a massive orgasm.
And then, the lights in the cabin flickered off.
The water in the shower stopped, and so did Silvana and Bruce.
They patted around for one another to make sure each other was okay.
Then both their blood ran cold as they heard Amelia scream in horror.
