Saville Family Castle
"What? Is she alright? You did send them to the family's hospital, right? Angelo how can you keep this from me. I'm your fucking brother!"
"Not your secret to tell? Who else knew of her?"
Rosaline sat on the lounge chair listening to her husband's angry call with his brother. The call came in ten minutes ago and they have been at it ever since. She feared that Caiden's loud voice would wake the whole castle so she convinced him to create a shield. She waited patiently for him to end the call, from what she gathered an abduction was attempted on Nikolai's mate and now she was hurt. Worry took over her, she prayed to the Goddess for Sienna's quick recovery and safety as they make plans to leave the country. He has been through so much, the loss of his grandfather, being away from his family because he had to fulfill a role he was born for and last but not least her children.
Rosaline knew how they always gave him a hard time but whatever she does or say they always went back to taunting him, belittling him. The reason why they hated their cousin was beyond her, she felt like a failure. A failure as a mother and aunt. Bringing her worry to Caiden proved nothing, he mindlessly brushed it off as personalities clashing between them all.
"Mama knew about all of this? How could... How could you both keep this from me?" Caiden shouted he was beyond angry, tears of betrayal flowed from his eyes as he listened to his brother.
"I pray that the goddess blesses your son's mate." he finally said ending the call. With his back turned to his mate, Caiden tried to process it all, for years his mother and brother kept him out of the loop, kept the truth from the whole family. He understood the reason but the betrayal was still there. Caiden always believed the relationship between him and Angelo was full of trust and loyalty but the recent conversation proved him wrong.
"Wake the family. I need to talk to them," he said dejectedly.
New York
Two Days.
Two long days.
Two long days of not seeing her smile. Not hearing her call his name. Listening to the doctors tell him she was alright. She will be fine. To him it wasn't fine, it wasn't alright. His Sienna wasn't by his side, laughing and talking. They both should have been on their way to Russia where she would have been safe. No broken legs. No bruises on her beautiful skin. No attempted kidnapping.
"Niko. You need to eat," his mother said for the fourth time that day. "I am fine mama" he answered hoarsely. Nikolai hasn't left his mate's side for the past two days, he was still in the bloody clothes in which he held her in. Holding onto her hand he gently touched the bracelet they got from the fair. He remembered the emotion he felt while putting it on her wrist, he wanted to tell her then and there but it was only a week they've met each other. Can it work so fast?
"Please at least take this." she pleaded, giving him a cup of coffee with a blueberry croissant. Seeing the little snack, he glanced up at his mother, her face filled with concern and worry for him. Not wanting to disappoint her, he took the little meal and began to eat. "спасибо (Thank you)" he whispered. He took a look around the private hospital room and squeezed Sienna's hand, in the corner was her family on the sofa. Emilio sat in the middle while Jovian and Maria laid their head on his lap soundly asleep. Mina was in Zarif's arms as they quietly spoke to each other, comforting each other. By the door stood his father watching him closely with the forevermore look of comfort and patience in his eyes.
'She won't leave you, son. She will wake up soon. Come. Let's take a walk.' Angelo said calmly. 'What if she wakes up? She would be scared if I'm not here,' he responded on the verge of panicking once more.
'We won't go far,' his father said briefly leaving the room. Nikolai hesitated before standing up. "I shall be back, my princess. I am only leaving for a few minutes. I will be back soon," he said to her before kissing her chapped lips then head. Grabbing his coffee, he went out into the hall and reached his father. Angelo simply walked to the next room and sat on the sofa.
"There is a change of clothes in the bathroom. Shower and get dressed. Ten minutes." There was no room for an argument from the tone he used on his son. Understanding his father's underlying meaning, he said nothing and went to clean himself up after days of sitting by his mate's side. After the given ten minutes, Nikolai stepped out in his black jeans, black tactical combat boots and t-shirt, it was then he realized his father was dressed the same.
"Sienna is in a coma due to swelling of her brain. It's common. Due to her wolf genes, her recovery is speedy. The doctors found wolfsbane in her bloodstream and were able to flush it out. The dosage was enough to incapacitate her wolf not kill it. Another right amount would have done so, making her untraceable after that. This attack proves a lot...." Angelo began to explain going over to a window.
"They know of her." Nikolai finished.
Angelo stayed quiet carefully choosing his next words.
"I told Caiden everything."
"Papa. Why? Then the elders will be told. We do not want what they will proclaim. I do not want that crown," his son started to protest his father's stupid decision. "They can't make you. It will always be your choice. You were taught to make decisions to help those who aren't able to help themselves but now.... You make the decision for yourself." He calmly went over to stand by his father's side, something they always did when making hard decisions or having serious conversations. The two had a strong bond as father and son. "I'll think of it," he said softly.
"Thank you, Niko. On another note, you and Sienna are only spending one more day in America. I cannot risk another attack. I spoke to her doctor she has recovered a great 75% due to her alpha blood but with her parents' permission I want to inject her with some of your grandmother's blood."
"Do we have much left?" Nikolai asked relieved that his father took over while he was in such a mess. Angelo simply nodded and kept his gaze out the window.
"We have work to do, son."
"I know papa. I know," he said trying to keep a tight hold on Vadim.
"Can you handle being away from her? The office is fifteen minutes away."
Nikolai didn't answer he rushed back into her room and stood at the foot of her bed. Her dark hair was in a messy bun on top of her head, her broken leg in cast elevated; her broken arm lay by her side. The bruises she sustained from the accident lessened leaving a purple bluish hue to her skin. Looking at his broken mate was enough motivation to deal with the vampires they had on their hands.
'Yes,' he told his father.
"She wakes up you..." he started to say not taking his eyes off her.
"We will call you, son. You go deal with those bastards" Emilio said with venom laced in his voice. Nikolai moved to sit on the side of her bed, cupping her cheek he gently caressed it, begging her silently to just get up, to open her eyes so she can see what his heart wanted to tell her.
"Я люблю тебя ангел."(I love you, angel) he said before kissing her gently. Zarif and Mina froze when he uttered those words. "Finally," Zarif said closing his eyes while holding his own mate tighter. They all watched him slowly leave her side to go to his father's.
'She'll be fine,' Vadim said reassuring his human after hearing Lana's whimper.
"You just had to come back home huh. If you stayed in fucking Russia this shit wouldn't have happened." The angry voice of his little cousin was the first thing he heard as he made his way two doors down from his mate's room.
"Have some respect here kid," Angelo said deathly calm while stepping in front of his son. "Give it a rest uncle. You know it's true. If he just stayed where people wanted him, my girl wouldn't be in a blasted hospital. Uncle Caiden told us everything. You all lied to us to protect him because he's a threat to us all. No wolf can handle so much power nor would it be safe for her. You should have just rejected her and save her the pain. Look where she's at Nikolai." Matthew shouted loud enough for Mina and Zarif to come running.
"What are you doing here?" Mina asked.
"I came to see my girlfriend" he sneered.
"EX-girlfriend," Nikolai growled making a threatening step towards the British prince. His words made a dent in Nikolai's confidence but not enough to give up on Sienna. He knew the power he held within him outmatched every single royal in his family besides his father. He knew Sienna would not be safe all the time but he would be by her side, protecting her and their people will do the same. He also knew because of him she was in a coma right that moment, it was all the more reason to find and kill whoever is after her.
Angelo stepped aside and leaned on the wall, waiting to see what his spoiled bratty nephew can do without him as a barrier between himself and his son. Matthew stepped closer to his cousin who was utterly calm. "When she wakes up, I will make it my duty to show her the monster you truly are."
"Matthew. Stop." Mina shouted at her stupid obnoxious cousin.
"Oh quit it, Mina," he spat. His outburst to Mina not only surprised her father but also her brother and mate.
"Do not talk to, little one like that," Nikolai calmly said pushing Matthew away from his body. Matthew landed five feet away from them crashing into the brick wall at the end of the hall. "You do not call my mate, yours. Ever....." he continued lifting up his cousin slamming him into the ceiling as he slowly walked down the hallway. He had the power to manipulate energy without the use of his hands or head, just like his father. Nikolai wasn't using much force if he did, the family will be one prince less. Matthew fell to the floor groaning in pain, picking up the debris around him telepathically, he threw them towards Nikolai who instinctively created a shield blocking him and his family.
Nikolai froze Matthew's whole body and positioned him to face them all. "...Again" he said finishing his earlier sentence. "I do not wish to kill you. That wish is for someone else. Leave. Do not go near my mate. You go against my orders, I won't hesitate to kill you. You are pissing me off." Nikolai was no longer with them, Vadim was now in control. Matthew's eyes widen in shock and fear as he witnessed his cousin shift from man to wolf.
"You really are a freak," he rasped out. Tilting his head to the side, Vadim sent Matthew flying down the hallway to the right crashing into the wall once again, knocking him out cold.
A tall, muscular man with dark curls dressed all in black came into their view and simply stepped over Matthew. "Ah, Matthew I guess you found Nikolai," the man said his voice held a faint French accent. Another man followed him and frowned looking at Matthew also. "Damn it. Aunt Becca is going to bitch". He had low cut dark hair and still had the boyish looks no one ever believes him when he says he was the present Royal Delta.
"Hello boys," Angelo called out. Wide grins took over their faces as they rushed up and greeted their uncle and cousins. "What are you guys doing here?" Mina asked as she held her older cousin. "Dad said it was time," Jay said looking at Nikolai.
"Let's go. I got heads to rip off" was all Nikolai said making his exit. Angelo looked at Jay, Delta Noah's son "Stay with her," his uncle ordered as Zac, Delta Jonah's son followed Nikolai out. Mina and Jay watched them leave as Zarif went to Matthew.
"What about him?" he asked crouching beside the arrogant prince. Releasing a deep sigh, Jay took out his phone and dialed the number he knew he would be dialing in less than an hour. "Uh hi, Auntie Becca. Um... Matthew sort of hit a brick wall," he started to explain looking up at the same time," And maybe the ceiling?"
Never get on his cousin's bad side, Jay thought to himself looking once more at the damage created.
