27.

Saville Incorporated, New York

Surrounded by sentinels, Angelo, Nikolai, and Zac strode up the stairs of the tall business building. Their purposeful strides and the mysterious air around them drew the attention of passersby and workers going in and out of the building. Entering the company's lobby everyone stood still as they spotted their boss but their attention was focused on the young man with the dark hair and demanding stare walking beside Angelo.

"It's his son."

"That's Nikolai."

"What is he doing in America?"

Their whispers were loud to Nikolai's ears but he ignored them. He signaled to the sentinels that accompanied them to guard all entrances, two at each door and elevator. With the men, all dressed in black and wore serious expressions it brought out a lot of inquiries as to what was going on. Zac told the head of security the reason for the up in guards was due to Nikolai's visit, which seems to feed everyone's interest.

They took the private elevator and headed down to the ground floor but it had another level only accessible by a master key. Only Angelo and Jonah had the key, this certain detention area was used for extremely dangerous supernatural beings where they are held for questioning.

"How many?" Nikolai asked as the door opened to a brightly lit hallway.

"Three, sir. One escaped on foot," a sentinel reported. With Angelo leading, his son and Zac close behind the two remaining guards brought up the back, using access keys to pass the security doors they went deeper into the secured area. Going through the last door, the scent of the vampires began to make Nikolai uneasy. In separate cells, the vampires were pacing restlessly. Nikolai stepped before them, he said not a word as sensing his presence they all paused and turned to him.

"Your majesty" they cried out going to their knees. They stayed on their knees waiting for him to say something but he didn't, he simply watched them. The men grew anxious as to what he would do to them, slowly they raised their heads to see what really was going on.

With a snap of his fingers, Nikolai opened their cells and motioned for them to step forward. Hesitantly they stepped out into the hallway, "You know who I am." It wasn't a question but a statement. His voice was steady but you can hear the anger in its tone.

"Yes sir" they answered.

"Then why disrespect ME!" he shouted throwing them back in their cells. The painful moans of the men echoed through the silent hall.

"Who sent you?" he asked lowly.

No answer.

Lifting them two feet from the ground, he brought them back out. "Speak now. Do not let me take it from you. It won't be nice."

"W-We can't say sir." one whimpered. Nikolai dropped the other two and brought the one who spoke closer. Freezing the vampire's body, he slowly walked around him; with a wave of his hand, he sent back the other two in their cells.

"You cannot or you will not?" he asked.

"Please your majesty. You must understand. We just can't tell a soul." the man pleaded.

"You would die for this person?" Nikolai asked bringing up his right arm. The vampire's eyes widen in fear not sure what the hell the prince was going to do. The other two were frozen in fear watching on.

"Not really, sir."

"But you are not helping me," he growled angrily willing the man's arm to break, his painful scream echoed all around, his friends' eyes widen in disbelief looking at the disfigured arm of their friend. He couldn't move to hold his broken arm, the prince froze his arm in its newly broken position.

"What the fuck," they gasped scurrying further into the cell ignoring their aching bodies.

"Now tell me why did you take my mat?" Nikolai asked calmly through the screams of the man.

"P-please" he begged.

"Please break another?" the prince stupidly asked. Just as he spoke the word, he broke the fingers on his other arm. Turning to the man's friends, he gave them a faux sympathetic expression and said "He's not looking good. He needs help. Are any of you going to answer?" They began to stutter.

"Answer me," he shouted dropping their friend. Using a gift he inherited from his father, he reached into the man's mind and replayed every dark deed he did, allowing each memory to torture him psychologically. The vampire convulsed and screamed in agony on the floor, he tried to use his arms but each movement brought the pain ten folds.

"H-He found us in Paris. Said if we don't help our families would die." One blurted out looking on in horror.

"We are just pawns as he said. To take the princess." the other said trying to get further away from the oncoming prince.

"What is his name? Where is he?"

"Thibault he calls himself Thibault that's all we know. Please have mercy on us, your majesty. We were just following orders." the first begged.

"Why?" Nikolai asked with a confused expression dragging each man out of his cell, they screamed begging him to spare their lives, trying to get a grip on the floor, their nails began to bleed from the pressure they put to get that unforeseen grip. The prince's boots thundered slowly against the concrete floor, mixing into their screams. With each step, it was a nail pounding in their coffin. "Kidnapping a royal is death. Well to me" he said calmly.

"We didn't mean to. It was just an order" one shouted.

"Then this just pleasantries," his voice was cold and uncaring as he focused on the beating of the man's heart. He clutched at his heart, begging Nikolai to have mercy on him but the prince didn't care all he saw was his mate lying in that hospital bed because of them. Squeezing his heart tighter, he turned to the other who was trying to get away. He pulled the man closer and grabbed him by his neck and held him above the ground. The vampire clawed at Nikolai's arm, trying to get loosen his grip from around his throat. Though he knew his end was near, he still had that fight in him.

The screams of pain and agony were deafening, it sounded like a true torture chamber, Vadim made his way to the surface. "Now you die," he said to the man he held and brought him closer. his fangs elongated and in one swift action, Vadim ripped out the jugular of the vampire then dismembered him, easily without any exertion. Blood was everywhere, spraying over the last two who were caught up on their own pains to notice.

Knowing he wasn't getting anything from them, he decided to put them out of their misery. One last squeeze and the snapping of the other's neck all three were dead.

Nikolai didn't move. Blood stained his hands and his mouth but he stood there unseeingly to the movements around him. The sentinels worked around him, getting rid of the bodies and cleaning up the massacre their prince created.

Thibault. The name Thibault sounded familiar but he couldn't place it.

"Papa?" he said at last.

Angelo said nothing but simply stood beside his son watching the men work. "Everything is done?" he asked his father. "Yes. She's getting the blood right now. Tomorrow morning you two shall leave the country. I have a pack doctor who agreed to travel with you to care for Sienna," he said.

"Thank you," Nikolai said quietly.

The prisoners were useless but that didn't stop him from searching for this threat, he knew they would become much more desperate because she slipped through their fingers. That was why they have to take action immediately. They got too close to her and was aware of their movements. He knew he had to place new security measures around his family. The thought of someone close to him being the threat angered yet saddened him. Loyalty and trust were the two factors he was taught and grew with. They are also the two characteristics he led his kingdom with.

Who can this be?

"Go clean up," his father said softly leaving him to his own thoughts.

'Once we return home, we will have an advantage on whoever this is,' Vadim said. The wolf was still worked up but was easily calming himself by thinking of his mate.

'Precisely'.

Paris

"Still no word from them sir."

"One fucking job. Just one simple job to get a fucking teenager" Thibault shouted flipping over the table in his hotel room. Going to Paris was a last-minute decision if he wanted to take down Prince Nikolai and his family he needed the right weapon. It turns out he wasn't the only one harboring hatred that an American was now the high alpha. It was unheard of.

"Is everything ready? We must leave now. I'll worry about that girl afterward. We have much to do," he said packing the last of his things.

He wasn't allowing three incompetent men to ruin his already set plans. He knew he had loyal soldiers in and around the palace. It's not really a shame that money and the promise of power can change anyone's loyalty.

For now, Thibault's main target was the prince himself, he was tired of the small games, it was time to get it over with.
