CHAPTER 91
I did not try to put up a fight as he took my hand and dragged me with him out of the club. The girls followed us behind hurriedly. Connor's grip was tight and firmed on me and somewhat hurting.
"You're hurting me, Connor," I told him but he did not listen. He continued to pull me away with him. He didn't even try to lessen his hold on me.
"Let me go!" I snatched my hand from him as soon as we got to his car and the drunk girls scampered inside. They did not try to say a word as well because Connor was visibly more than pissed.
Connor glared back at me, his face cold and unsmiling.
"You know, sometimes, you piss me off so much."
I crossed my hand against my chest and tried to clear the tipsy off my eyes. Connor's rage was hot enough to make me sober but it did not. I tried to keep my gaze focused on him.
"Yea?" I replied questioningly.
"I'm not so bothered about Summer or the fact that you almost got in a fight..."
"That man was practically trying to grope my sister."
He sucked in a sharp air and shut his eyes briefly before opening them again.
"Why didn't you tell me you were going to the club?"
I shrugged. "Suzy came over and suggested we come here." I glanced at Suzy through the car window and both she and Summer were both asleep, their heads carelessly on the headrest.
Wasted drunks.
"How did you even know we were here?" I asked him, my eyes squinting in curiosity. I suddenly gasped as the image of Jessie sitting alone at the club crossed my vision.
Was she waiting for someone? Was that someone Connor?
"Did you come for Jessie?"
"Kenz, you are drunk..."
"Oh. So, you did come to see her."
"You shouldn't have gotten yourself drunk, Kenz. It isn't good for the baby."
I stared at him and laughed in disbelief.
"Stop acting like you genuinely care about me, Connor. It is all for the baby. I can tell." I heard myself say before I had the time to process the words in my head.
He stared at me like I had gone crazy.
"What the fuck, Kenz."
I shoved him away by the chest and walked past him, almost staggering on my feet. "Stay away from me, you cheating prick."
I heard him laugh at my words.
"Cheating prick? Are you serious?"
.................
The next morning, the girls were sober and when I came into the kitchen, they were having a cup of coffee each. It surprised me that Summer and Jojo were having a chat with themselves too.
How did this happen?
"Good morning, honey." Suzy greeted me first with a wave. "How is that hangover of yours? Connor told us you were still in bed. It's past eleven in the morning, girlie."
"I'm okay." I opened the fridge and fetched myself a glass of cold water.
"Connor made us each a cup of coffee." She pointed to the coffee she was sipping from. "Your boyfriend is so sweet."
I raised an eye.
Connor made coffee for all of them.
Somehow, I felt a little jealous and left out that he didn't get me one too.
Well, after what happened last night, I didn't think I was on his good side now.
"Where's he?" I found myself asking.
Summer pointed upstairs. "In his room. Obviously."
"Alright." I nodded and turned my back on them. "Enjoy your coffee."
And then I hastened my pace and went upstairs, heading for his room. I tried to understand why I was even going to his room or what I was planning to say to him. But I walked on anyway and knocked on his door when I arrived.
He opened the door without wasting so much time. When his eyes met mine, he looked a bit surprised.
"Hi." I thinned my lips in a small smile.
"Hi..." he let his word trail off.
"Can I come in?"
His frown deepened but he stepped aside and let me in any way.
My eyes scanned his room. I hadn't been here for a while now. His neatly arranged bed and the perfectly arranged bookshelf were just as I had remembered them to be and it still impressed me that was a neat and organised person.
"What's up?" He sat back on the bed and watched me. I looked back at him. His perfectly tousled air and the light tees hugged his perfectly muscled body so tight.
"I...uhh.." I bit my bottom lip. "I want to apologize for what happened last night. I know, I was careless and inconsiderate..."
"And childish." He added and I frowned a little at his word.
Childish?
But I bit back any form of argument from escaping my throat.
"I guess..."
"No." His eyes were unsmiling and fixated on me. "You were childish."
Okay. I've had enough of his bossiness.
"Why is it so difficult to apologize to you?"
"Because you're not being sincere with your apology?"
I almost gasped. "Who says I'm not?"
He sighed and got up from the bed.
"You know, I don't have time for this, Kenz. I have to be at the agency in an hour and I need to have my shower before I leave."
Before he could take another step past me, I threw my weight on his body, grabbing him in a hug. He stiffened at my action and kept his hands limp by his sides.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"Apologizing for everything I said to you last night?"
He finally broke his hardness and chuckled lowly. Slowly, he wrapped his own hands around me and stroked my back gently.
"I know."
We remained in this position in silence for almost a whole minute. The only sound I heard was the sound of his heartbeat pounding steadily against his chest.
"You know..., Jessie was there too," I told him the one thing I had been bothered about. Deep inside, I prayed I was wrong at it was merely a coincidence.
"Yes. I know."
My heart cut.
So, he did come to see her at the club.
"She wanted to see me." He added. "But I got to see you first and never made it to her."
Should I be thankful for the fight?
He chuckled lightly again. "Are you jealous?"
"No." I denied.
He disentangled himself from me and his warmth instantly disappeared from my body and my insides fell in disappointment.
He lifted my face and stared into my eyes. His own eyes teasing and intent.
"You're lying."
"I'm not." My eyes travelled to his lips. I wanted to kiss him so badly.
"You are so bad at hiding it." He pointed out.
"I am not jealous of her ." I could not stop my fingers from reaching to his lips and tracing my fingers around them.
God! I want more of him.
"But what I am jealous about is another woman being this close to you."
He smirked and replied. "Really? This close?"
I stepped on my toe and sealed my lips around his in a kiss. He pulled me by my waist and pressed me gently against his hips, deepening the kiss. I broke the kiss after a few seconds and I could not miss the flash of disappointment in his own eyes too.
"No," I whispered back. "This close."
