Change In Keiden

Chapter 15

EMELIA

I stepped into the bathroom, and my jaw dropped in awe. The cabin's bathroom was a masterpiece – sleek, modern, and luxurious. Marble countertops, a spacious shower, and a freestanding tub created a serene oasis. I couldn't believe a cabin could have such an exquisite bathroom.

For a few minutes, I forgot about my urgency to get ready, mesmerized by the bathroom's beauty. The soft glow of the pendant lights above the sink added a warm ambiance, making me feel like I was in a high-end spa.

But reality snapped me back into focus. I had to get ready.

I quickly shed my clothes and stepped into the shower. The warm water cascaded down my skin, refreshing me. I washed my hair and body, savoring the invigorating sensation.

Within minutes, I was done. I wrapped myself in a towel, feeling revitalized.

As I exited the bathroom, I spotted a neatly arranged towel on the bed. I picked it up, drying myself hastily.

Next, I searched for a cream to apply. My skin needed moisturizing, especially after the shower. I spotted a jar on the dresser and grabbed it without checking the label. No time for that.

I applied the cream hastily, feeling its silky texture on my skin.

Then, I turned my attention to the stunning blue gown Keiden had laid out for me. I slipped it on, and my breath caught in my throat.

The gown fit perfectly, hugging my curves in all the right places. It was as if it were tailored specifically for me. I couldn't help but wonder if Keiden had chosen it with me in mind.

I combed my hair, styling it in loose waves that framed my face. A few stray strands escaped, but I left them be, adding a touch of effortless elegance.

As I finished styling, my gaze fell upon Keiden's fragrances on the dresser. I couldn't resist the temptation. I picked one up, spritzing it discreetly, making sure no one was watching.

The scent was intoxicating – a subtle blend of citrus and florals.

As I finished styling applying the fragrance, my gaze fell upon a pair of shoes placed neatly beside the bed. I hadn't noticed them earlier, but now they caught my attention.

The shoes were exquisite – delicate, silver sandals with intricate straps that seemed to shimmer in the light. The heel was moderate, not too high, but enough to add a touch of elegance.

I picked up one of the shoes, admiring its craftsmanship. The silver material seemed to flex in my hand, molded to fit the contours of my foot. A delicate buckle adorned the ankle strap, shaped like a tiny flower.

I slipped my foot into the shoe, feeling the soft leather lining mold to my skin. The fit was perfect, as if the shoe had been tailored specifically for me.

Next, I fastened the ankle strap, the delicate buckle clicking securely into place. The strap wrapped around my ankle, hugging it gently.

I stood up, feeling the shoes' subtle weight.

The silver shoes complemented the blue gown perfectly, creating a perfect balance of colors.

I gave myself a final once-over in the mirror, admiring how the gown and shoe transformed me My eyes sparkled, my skin glowed, and my hair shone.

The silver shoes clicked softly on the floor as I walked, their gentle rhythm echoing through the silence.

I glided through the sitting room, the blue gown fluttering around me like a celestial mist searching for Keiden.

But Keiden was nowhere to be found. I hesitated, unsure whether to call out his name. Our earlier encounter still lingered in my mind, and I feared he might snub me again.

Instead, I decided to search for him. My heels clicked softly on the floor as I wandered through the rooms.

Suddenly, the sound of an horse neighing drifted through the air. I followed the sound, my curiosity piqued.

As I stepped outside, I spotted Keiden standing beside a chariot, gently petting the horse's mane. His eyes met mine, and for an instant, time froze.

The way he looked at me wasn't just a casual glance. It was as if he beheld a work of art, a masterpiece. His gaze roamed over me, drinking in the sight of the blue gown hugging my curves.

I felt a flutter in my chest, my heart skipping a beat. For once, Keiden's expression softened, and I glimpsed a glimmer of admiration.

But it vanished as quickly as it appeared. His face hardened, and he cleared his throat.

"It's time to go," he said, his tone brusque. "We can't waste any more time."

I nodded, still reeling from the intensity of his gaze.

As I approached the chariot, a question bubbled up inside me.

"Keiden, will this chariot...take us to our destination?" I asked, trying to sound nonchalant.

Keiden's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched.

"You, of all people, should know better than to question the mode of transportation," he said, his voice dripping with disdain. "Considering all the sufferings you've faced in life, you don't even have the right to choose between cars and chariots."

His words slapped me like a cold wind. My head bowed in shame, and I felt my face flush.

"I-I'm sorry," I stuttered, my voice barely audible.

Without another word, I climbed into the chariot, trying to compose myself. The blue gown seemed to lose its luster, weighed down by Keiden's harsh words.

Keiden's expression remained impassive, his eyes fixed on the horizon. The chariot lurched forward, and we set off into the unknown.

As the chariot rolled forward, the silence was oppressive, a heavy blanket that suffocated me. Even the sound of a pin dropping would have been deafening in the stillness.

I couldn't bear it anymore. Despite Keiden's earlier rebuke, I had to break the silence.

"Keiden?" I ventured, my voice barely above a whisper.

He didn't respond, his gaze fixed on the horizon.

"Keiden, did I annoy you or piss you off?" I asked, my words tumbling out in a rush. "You're treating me so differently from yesterday. Did I do something wrong?"

Keiden's expression remained impassive, but he turned to me, his eyes piercing.

"Do you think you did anything wrong?" he countered, his voice low and measured.

I hesitated, taken aback by his response.

"Answering questions with questions," I thought, frustration simmering within me.

"Well, I don't think so," I replied, trying to sound confident.

Keiden's gaze lingered on me, his expression unreadable.

"Then you shouldn't be bothered about how you're treated," he said finally, his words slicing through the air like a knife.

I felt a sting, as if he'd slapped me.

"That's not fair," I protested, my voice rising. "I deserve to know what I did wrong. You can't just change your behavior toward me without explanation."

Keiden's expression didn't soften. Instead, he turned away, focusing on the road ahead.

"Life's not always fair, Emelia," he said, his voice dripping with detachment. "Sometimes you have to accept things as they are."
