Under the Alpha’s Gaze II

Keiden

As I stood in the dim light of the house, the sharpness of my words still hung in the air like a fog. “Maybe you’re blind, Emelia,” I had said, the bite in my tone sharper than I intended. What was wrong with me? Just the night before, I had felt a connection, an undeniable pull toward her, and now I was lashing out.

I glanced over at her, a brief flicker of regret passing through me as I saw the hurt in her eyes. Yet, the tension in the air thickened, and I turned away, unwilling to show weakness.

The limousine sat waiting outside, a sleek black vessel that seemed to absorb the morning light. I could see Emelia’s expression shift from confusion to awe as she took in its polished surface. “I’m assuming you’re smart enough to figure out how to get in,” I had shot back, not caring how dismissive I sounded. What was wrong with me? Was I trying to push her away?

As we drove through the familiar streets, I couldn’t help but steal glances at her. She had fallen asleep against the plush leather seat, her long lashes resting softly against her cheeks. I noticed how the morning light caught her hair, giving it a golden hue that shimmered with every bump in the road. Although she looked lean, there was something undeniably beautiful about her, something that drew me in deeper.

I took a moment to admire her features—the delicate curve of her lips, the way her brows furrowed slightly as if she were in a dream. It was a sight that struck a chord in me, one I couldn’t ignore. But I quickly shook my head, reminding myself of the responsibilities ahead. I pulled out my phone, fingers flying over the screen as I sent messages to my guards and members of the pack, instructing them to prepare for my arrival as their Alpha.

After what felt like an eternity, we finally arrived at the pack, my heart racing. Emelia still slept soundly, oblivious to the tension that awaited us. I instructed the guards to carry her to a safe room where she could rest undisturbed, promising myself I would check on her as soon as I was done with the pack’s affairs.

As I stepped out of the limousine, the weight of my title settled heavily on my shoulders. The guards escorted me to my villla ( Wolf’s Hold)——the center of power and tradition for my pack.

Inside, everything was meticulously arranged for my return. But as I strolled through the unfamiliar halls, a sense of unease washed over me. I wandered into a room looking at how it was arranged and designed, only to find a box tucked away on a shelf. Curiosity tugged at me, and I opened it to reveal old photographs of my friends together, smiles frozen in time.

A wave of guilt crashed over me. It was my fault they were gone—my friends, my family, all lost.
Anger surged within me, and I threw the box against the wall, watching it bounce off without breaking.

The sound echoed through the room, and instantly, I felt the heat of guilt flood my cheeks as guards rushed in, concern etched on their faces. “Alpha Keiden, is everything alright?” one of them asked, their eyes wide with worry.

“Get out,” I snapped, my voice low and dangerously calm. I didn’t want their pity or concern. I didn’t want to be reminded of my failures. I had to focus on leading this pack and making the people proud not drowning in a heart breaking memory.

After excusing myself, I left the room, desperate to push the memories of my past away. I needed to see Emelia again. I knew she must have woken up by now, and I hoped she hadn’t been alone for long.

“Where did you take Emelia?” I asked the nearest guard, my voice clipped.

He bowed his head, gesturing for me to follow. “This way, Alpha.”

As we walked through the vast corridors, I wondered what she was doing. I could hear faint voices in the distance—were they friendly? Had she managed to make a good impression, or had they already turned on her?

When we reached the room where I had left her, I hesitated for just a moment before pushing the door open. The sight that greeted me sent a shock of rage coursing through my veins.

Emelia stood in the center of the room, surrounded by a group of women—my pack’s so-called elite—who were sneering and laughing at her. I felt a heat rise within me, blood boiling at the sight of their cruel expressions.

“Look at her,” one of them sneered, her voice laced with malice. “What makes you think you’re special? You’re just a little nobody.”

“Yeah, a stray,” another chimed in, her laughter cutting through the air. “What could he possibly see in you?”

“Pathetic,” I growled, stepping into the room, my presence instantly silencing their laughter. All eyes turned to me, wide with shock and fear, but my gaze was locked on Emelia. I could see the hurt etched on her face, and it ignited something primal within me.

“Who gave you worthless beings the right to lay a hand on her?” I demanded, letting the full weight of my voice fill the room. Every word dripped with rage, slicing through their false confidence.

One of the women, attempting to look defiant, managed to mumble, “She’s just a plaything, Alpha. Do you even care about her?”

I moved closer, each step forcing them to shrink back. “A plaything?” I echoed, my voice low and venomous. “You think I’d allow anyone to touch what belongs to me? To lay even a finger on her without consequence?”

They looked away, visibly shaken, but I wasn’t finished. “You don’t seem to grasp what I’m saying. Let me make it crystal clear,” I said, my voice dropping to a menacing whisper. “Emelia is mine, and I don’t take kindly to anyone mistreating what’s mine.”

Their faces went pale

“If you ever so much as look at her the wrong way again, I’ll have your heads delivered to me in a box,” I continued, my words slicing through the silence. “And trust me, I’ll make sure the entire pack sees exactly what happens when someone disrespects my command.”

Their fear was palpable now. They exchanged terrified glances, as though searching for any hint of mercy in my gaze—but there was none.

I took another step forward, and they staggered back in unison, panic evident in their wide eyes. “You wanted to play tough, didn’t you?” I taunted, a dangerous edge in my voice. “Then go ahead. But know this—I won’t ask twice. I don’t make empty threats, and next time, there won’t be any talking.”

The silence hung heavy, my warning sinking in. Without another word, I jerked my head toward the door. “Now get out of my sight.”

They didn’t need to be told twice. Practically stumbling over each other, they bolted out of the room like startled birds.
