CHAPTER 16: HER SAVIOR

"Faith!" He said briskly when he stood up.

Faith? His ex-fiancee?

She saw the happiness on his face while he was focused on his call. He seemed to forget that she was there with him.

"Yeah, sure. I'll be home and I'll call you when I get home. I'm with ..." he looked at her before he continued speaking.

"I'm with my employee. Yep, I'll go home now," he quickly put down the phone and looked at her again.

"I'll go home first. You don't have to report to work tonight because I know you're tired from your work in the office. From now on, you don't have to go to my house every night. Don't worry, you will still be paid weekly. I will be the one who will visit you here when I... when I need you," the man continued.

He didn't wait for her to answer and he went out the door as if excited to go home. Her eyes followed him until he was inside his car. He even waved at her before starting his car and leaving.

Employee? What else? The term that Clayton used to describe her was just right. She was just his employee.

Then he said, he would only go to her if he needed her.

Specifically her body...

Why can't she still accept to herself that her only role was to make his bed warm anytime he needs her?

She felt like she was just a mistress.

No. A mistress is even better because a mistress still has a romantic connection with someone.

But she?

She was just a woman who sold her body to Clayton. It was all for convenience on both sides. No romantic connection whatsoever.

Sadly, she closed the door.

Clayton was very anxious when he answered the call of his ex-fiancee. Are they getting back together?

The pain caused by that thought gets worse.

She didn't want to hurt herself so she decided to just enjoy the time she could still be with Clayton. She could no longer deny to herself that she had special feelings for him.

She was sure in the short time she had known him she already loves him. She didn't expect Clayton to reciprocate her feelings. She knew she was just a low-class woman for him.

He was just being kind to her and her mother but it doesn't mean anything aside from the fact that he was just being grateful to her for being his "cure".

That was all he can give her.

Gratefulness and kindness.

She knows that his heart is off-limits for a woman like her, especially since someone already owned it in the first place.

She found out that Clayton was not always staying in the office because he was attending meetings most of the time outside the office. He also visited his other offices. He was really a busy man just like what Red had described to her before.

She can't even talk to him when he is in the office.

The only thing that makes her heart happy is that no matter how busy and tired he is, he always comes back to the office to take her home.

In the morning, he always passes by their house so that they could go to the office together.

She knew that she was always the topic of the other employees there because she was always seen with their boss. She just didn't pay attention to that anymore.

She also didn't talk too much to other co-workers because she knows they will only gather information about her.

She is currently standing outside the building and waiting for Clayton. He called earlier to inform her that he will go back to the office to take her home. She tried to decline his offer and said she can just go home alone but he insisted.

She did not notice a woman approaching her.

"Hi! Aren't you Mr. Fierro's secretary's assistant?" the woman asked with a smile but her eyebrows seemed to be raised.

She looked at her and smiled even though the woman's face seemed intimidating.

"Yes, I am. I'm Samantha," she introduced herself to the woman and reached out her hand to her.

"Yeah, you're known throughout the building. Don't you know that Mr. Fierro has a fiancee?" The woman ignored her hand and she no longer smiled at her when she asked that.

"I've heard about that. I was informed also that they broke the engagement when his ex-fiancee went to London," she said still trying to sound nice even she was feeling a bit uneasy now.

She lowered her hand since it looked like the woman didn't have the willingness to shake hands with her.

She took her eyes off the woman and just turned her eyes to the road.

"Is that why you feel like you have this big hope that our boss might notice you?" the woman's tone was sarcastic.

When she turned around again, she even saw the woman looking at her from head to toe. She was not a fighter and not used to starting a fight so she just remained her mouth closed.

"You know, girl, we don't know what were the things you did to get close to Mr. Fierro. He is very strict and moody. Even some female employees who show motive to our boss were being ignored by him because he is still very much in love with his ex-fiancee. Did you use your body to seduce Mr. Fierro? In fairness to you, there were a lot of guys in the office who were obsessed with your body," the woman's words didn't sound like praise but seemed to be insulting especially when was looking at her whole body again with a raised eyebrow.

And because she seemed to be struck by what she said about using her body to Clayton, she seemed to want to cry when she turned to the woman. She is not a combative woman. She doesn't know how to fight back.

"From what department are you? And what's your full name?" they were just surprised when suddenly someone spoke behind them.

Both of their eyes widened when they saw Clayton's furious face. He was staring at the woman who now didn't know what to say.
