Chapter 12

Third Person's POV

'Alpha, we have a problem.", Eric said, hating himself a little for spoiling Zayden's mood but the piece of information which he was going to share was also important.
.
'Hmm", Zayden raised his brow but was still in a good mood.
.
'One of the human police officers has asked you to visit the police station because of John's death. Not to mention even John's wife will be there to testify against you.", Eric informed and added. 'The worst thing is that both the police officer and John's wife can not be bought with our money."
.
Zayden just listened to Eric's words. He closed his eyes, mentally laughing about stupid human rules, but since he was in the human world then, he had followed those rules. Zayden knew that nothing could go wrong as though money can not buy both of them but they would have family their weakness. He could use their family to threaten them.

'Fine then, let's take me toward the police station. I want to close this matter as soon as possible.", Zayden said in an uneven tone.

The moment he kept his leg inside the police station. He released his alpha aura which, was making everyone scared.
All things about him were screaming loudly about his power. He smirked, picking at the sight of fear on the face of those police officers. Strolling inside the cabin of the senior officer, he observed the scowl on the officer's face and John's wife was taking care of her twin daughters.

'Are you sure you don't want to testify against him?", The officer named Asher William asked her, looking toward Zayden. John's wife turned toward Zayden and looked at him emotionlessly.
The fear she had in her eyes the other night was not there anymore.

'No.", She answered. 'I do not want to file any case and, it will be better if you will stop harassing me by asking any type of questions that concern my husband's death. I am leaving this town with my daughters.", Mia, John's wife, added.

Zayden could understand this shock from Asher because he might have thought that this could be his chance to capture him and gain promotion, but in reality, even Zayden was shocked. He was sure that his men had not threatened Mia yet, so why the hell! She was saying everything in his favor.
Mia left the officer's cabin, sparing no glance at Zayden. Once she left, Zayden raised his brow toward Asher and smirked.

'Well, I don't think I am required anymore.", He smirked of which Asher did nothing except fume in anger.
.
'Lucky bastard.", He muttered slowly but, Zayden could hear it clearly and, he couldn't help but agree with him.
Zayden left his cabin and looked around to find Mia. After a while, he thought about offering her some financial support. So that she could raise her daughters without any problem, and finally, he found her talking with her toddler daughters.

'Mia…", Before he could say anything else. She cut him off.
.
'If you are wondering why I refused to testify against you, then I know you could easily escape out of all this, Zayden Staunton.", She said fearlessly, looking directly into his eyes. 'But one day, God will make you pay for your crimes and, you will also lose a loved one.", She added. Zayden tightened his fist to control his anger. He wanted to hit the woman standing in front of him but, he couldn't. He could be anything, but was not impotent to strike a woman.
The thought of financially helping her left his mind then and there and, he left without uttering a single word to Mia.

While on the other side, Grace was trying to stop herself from crying but, her tears were not in her control. She couldn't forget the fact that she had encountered the most feared man and, not to forget, even her mother scolded her. She recalled what had happened earlier.

'I d.dodon't..don't know m.mom, how he k.knows so much about me?", She sobbed and cried in her mother's arms and asked her question as if she knew the answer.

'Ssshh, Grace, maybe he came to warn you about the little stunt that you played you, should not have messed up with him in the first place.", Her mother said, trying to console Grace.
However, her sixth sense was warning her about something else. She had seen the world more than Grace had.

'That...That makes sense. That's why he knew all the details related to me. Even our home, mom. I am scared thinking, what if he plans to kill me and others later.", Grace sobbed, thinking about the worst scenario. 'An...And he was calling me sweetheart.", She complained but, the moment these words came out of her mouth, something inside her mother snapped at her.

'This is all your fault. I had told you to change your habit of helping everyone. why don't you listen to me?" She asked, getting angry. 'Neither you would have done something so stupid like that, nor this day would have come."

'Mom...why are you blaming me? It is not my fault that criminal claims me as if I am some kind of object or something.", Grace cried. 'It's not like I knew this day would come. I thought that…"

'It doesn't matter what you thought. What matters is you have to stay away from Zayden. No one will blame him if something goes wrong with you. They will blame you, stating the fact that you invited everything on your own."

'Just like you are doing right now, is it me? How could you not trust me? I thought you understood me better than anyone else.", Grace cried and ran toward her room. Grace's mother's expression melted that instant, seeing her daughter's miserable condition. Obviously, it was not her fault, but she had understood that Zayden had something to do with Grace.

‘Probably, SEX?', She thought because other than this, nothing else popped in her mind. The idea of the devil falling in love with beauty was limited up to Disney movies only, that's why she didn't think in that way. But there, she was making a mistake because the devil was indeed in love with Grace.

‘I have to get Grace's marriage done with a suitable groom before that criminal claims my daughter as his mistress or sex slave.', Grace's mother thought in determination but, she had no idea what the author had planned. Hehe ;)
