Chapter 22

**Jinx Willow's P.O.V.**


I sit in my temporary room, looking through my notebooks, when there's a knock on my door.

"Yes," I say "Come in."

The door cracks open and Alpha Peter sticks his head inside.

"I'm not sure what to address you as," Alpha Peter says "But may we talk?"

"Yes," I say, closing my notebook "You can come in."

Alpha Peter comes into the room, closing the door behind him.

"I just recently got that information," Alpha Peter says "When we heard your name, I had my witch pull up any and all information that she could find on you because I wanted to know the type of woman that my son was mated to. I didn't take into account whether you knew the information or not. I haven't even read what was in the file, but I understand how wrong it was of me to have that information found out about you when it should've been your choice who you disclosed such information to."

"Refer to me as Jinx," I say "Despite it not being my real name, it's the only name I've ever known besides Gaia...and I'm called that enough as it is. I only reacted that way to that file because I didn't know that information about me so it was a shock that you had it."

Alarm springs through my body and I stiffen.

"Something is happening," I say "We need to go to the office. I need you to hold my arm."

Alpha Peter nods, grabbing my arm as we walk down the hall as I try to figure out what's going on.

"Gaia," Elder Marshall says "What's going on?"

Sharp pain hits me in the abdomen and I gasp, doubling over and holding my stomach.

"No," I breathe "No, no, no. Where are you? You can't deliver there, it's not safe."

"Jinx," Derric says "What's going on?"

"I can't track her," I say "Not in this form. We're not going to get to her before they do, she hears them getting closer."

"Shit," Derric says "Hellhound?"

"Four," I say "She's pregnant with triplets. She's begging me but I can't track her and she doesn't know where she's at."

"You need to shift," Derric says "I know it's dangerous, but I'll go with you. We'll take your guards, you'll be protected. But you're literally the only one who can scare them away from her besides me."

My fingers crack and I nod, grabbing Derric's arm, telling her that we're coming. The moment I get outside, all the hellhounds, bloodhounds, and hounds look at me. I take off my shirt, shifting into my large white wolf, shaking out my fur. I look at Derric, who had shifted into his black wolf, and he nods. I take off for the trees, Derric and my guards in tow. After ten minutes, I rush around a tree, charging at the six males who are advancing at her. My lips peel back in a snarl and Derric nips my tail, nudging me towards her. He turns towards the males, snarling. I bump him in a thank you and head for her, nuzzling her. She whimpers, grasping my fur. I tell her that it's me and to get on my back, lowering myself down to make it easier for her. She climbs onto my back, hugging onto me tightly. I nip Derric's shoulder and he growls at my guards, who begin growling, circling the males. Derric and I rush the young hellhound back to the territory and Derric howls. People begin rushing over and I shift back, hiding behind Derric.

"Here," Alpha Peter says "Both of you."

I take the shirt and shorts he's holding out, pulling the shirt over my head. Derric shifts back, quickly pulling on the shorts.

"Daniel," Derric says "Show Jinx's guards where to lock the hunters up."

Daniel nods, leading my guards away. I go to the girl.

"Hi," I say softly "How are you?"

"Am I safe," She whispers "Are they safe?"

"Yes," I say "You and them are safe. Welcome home."

"Gaia," A female hellhound says "I'm a hellhound nurse. I need to check her vitals...and check on the baby."

"Babies," I say "She's pregnant with triplets. And they're fine, I hear their heartbeats and feel them."

Everyone stares at me.

"You feel them," One of the kidnappers says "What are you?"

"Trevor," I say, flashing my gold eyes "Why is he still within my eyesight?"

"Noted," Trevor says "We'll take him to the cells now, Gaia."

I nod, turning back to Derric.

"They weren't carrying icefire," I say "I would've smelled it. She would've been weak, unable to hold onto me while I ran."

"They were carrying it," She says "They tried to inject me but I heard your voice talking to me so I fought back. They tried to inject my arm but I swung and knocked it out of his hand."

"That's why we didn't find it on them," Derric says "I'll send some lupis back to the scene to find it and anything else from these...hunters. I don't want any curious children to get hold of it...or worse."

"That's a good idea," I say, nodding "Afterwards, we need to have a meeting and figure out where these people are hiding these hellhounds and such."

Derric nods, mindlinking some of the lupis guards to go back and find the syringes that she had knocked out of their hands. Everyone exits the office and Derric looks at me.

"So," Derric says "If they succeed in creating a Gaia...what will happen?"

I look at him.

"I'll just say this," I say softly "We cannot allow them to succeed."

"Jinx," Derric says "Why not? I'm your mate."

"Derric," I say "I literally cannot tell you for your safety and your pack's safety. If I tell you, you will completely lose it."

"How do you know," Derric says "If you won't even trust me enough to tell me?! I literally know pretty much nothing about you, Jinx!"

I sigh, my eyes flying to the door as someone knocks on it. Derric sighs.

"Come in," Derric says "What is it?"

"Hi," A girl says "Uhm...there's a note...for you, Alpha."

Derric stands up, walking around his desk and taking the small envelope from the girl, nodding at her that she can leave once he's taken it. He rips it open.

"Well," I say "What does it say?"

Derric growls lowly, handing me the note before turning to the wall.
