Chapter 5

**Jinx Willow's P.O.V.**

I hear the annoying beeping before I open my eyes and smell the disinfectant.

*We're in a hospital. You must not tell them what we are. Please, human, do not tell them, not even mate. We are not safe.*

I agree with my wolf not to tell anyone what she had told me that we are.

"Her vitals are strong," A female voice says "She's still healing but it's doing very well, Alpha, and it seems she is waking up."

I slowly open my eyes, looking around. Seated beside the bed I'm lying in are two males, both dressed in suits with their jackets draped over the back of the chairs. My wolf gets excited looking at the male with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes that's staring back at me in awe. I slowly look around, taking in the needle in my arm and the bandaging around my body. The female asks the males to leave the room.

"Where am I," I murmur "I need to get back to my pack...I have to do my duties or Alpha will get mad..."

"Sweetie," The female says "I'm Dr. Jacobson. You're in Blue Moon Pack territory. What pack are you from? We'll contact your Alpha."

*We can't go back. They'll try to control us. They'll kill us when they can't. Tell her they tried to kill us.*

"Can't go back," I murmur "They tried to kill me...they'll kill me if I go back."

"Who," Dr. Jacobson says "What pack, sweetie? What is your name?"

"Red Moon Pack," I murmur "My name is Jinx Willow..."

"Oh Moon Goddess," Dr. Jacobson says softly "You're...you're the Alpha's youngest daughter."

I nod, looking away.

"They don't claim me," I say softly "Nobody does."

Dr. Jacobson nods. She asks me some questions before she allows the two men back into the room.

"Jinx," Dr. Jacobson says "This is Alpha Pierce..."

I reach out, shaking his hand, which sends sparks flying up my arms. Immediately, my wolf tells me that those sparks are part of the mate bond.

"Hi," I say quietly "Nice to meet you..."

He nods, staring at me.

"And," Dr. Jacobson says "This is Beta Paul and Head Warrior Joey."

I give them both a small smile.

"Uhm," I say quietly "There's a sharp pain in my back..."

"Oh," Dr. Jacobson says "Alright. Sit up and I'll take a look."

I nod, using my unbandaged right arm to push myself up.

"Alright," Dr. Jacobson says "Beta, could I get you to help Jinx stay sitting up right?"

Alpha Pierce growls lowly.

"Actually," I say softly "I'm okay. I don't need help sitting up. What do you need me to do?"

"Just slip your arms out of your gown," Dr. Jacobson says "So that I can see your shoulders and such without your gown in the way."

I nod, carefully slipping my arms out and holding the gown against my chest. Dr. Jacobson inhales sharply.

"Oh my Moon Goddess," Dr. Jacobson says "Alpha, Beta, Head Warrior, I'm sorry but I need to speak with Jinx, privately. Could you step out?"

The three nod, exiting the room. Dr. Jacobson closes the door after requesting the three to follow a nurse down the hall to her office.

"Jinx," Dr. Jacobson says softly "I know what you are...what your wolf is..."

My heart rate picks up.

"Relax," Dr. Jacobson says softly "Relax, calm down. I'm not going to tell anyone, I know how that would turn out for you and nobody deserves that. We cannot let them know that you shifted, Jinx, we need them to believe that your wolf is unable to shift. I'm going to get in contact with a witch friend of mine to make you a perfume to mask your wolf's scent and we'll blame the freshly shifted smell on you on a rogue that was around you. However, I need to contact the Council because if any regular werewolf were to find out, outside of me, what you are, you could be in danger."

"I don't know what you're talking about," I say "I don't have a wolf."

"Jinx," Dr. Jacobson says softly "The sharp pain in your back is your body trying to form the mark of the Moon Goddess' chosen Gaia. You cannot let anyone see that mark. I don't know what the one behind your ear is, I've never seen that mark. But because of my study in my werewolf medicine, I know all about the Gaia's."

"A mark," I whisper "What will it be?"

"It depends on your wolf," Dr. Jacobson says softly "Yours is still forming. I'm going to reach out to the Council and tell Alpha that the Council is coming to get you because they want to charge Red Moon with the attempted murder of a pack member."

I nod. Dr. Jacobson tells a nurse to bring the three back in. They re-enter as Dr. Jacobson finishes placing a large bandage on my back and tying my gown.

"Well," Alpha Pierce says "What was it?"

"Jinx had some silver in her back," Dr. Jacobson says "It was piece of a hellhound's nail."

My wolf whimpers.

*I hate that she placed that on them.*

I silently comfort my wolf, promising that nobody will blame them ever again.

**Pierce Sinclaire's P.O.V.**

I sit in my office, staring at the giant photograph of my father's wolf behind the desk.

"Pierce," Mom says "Paul said something has been bothering you since the three of you visited that female omega in the pack hospital."

"She's my mate," I say softly "But something feels...off about her. My wolf is uneasy when we're around her instead of excited. She survived being struck with wolfsbane and silver and it had no effect on her."

"Maybe it did," Mom says "Are you going to reject her and choose your own mate, the way your father did?"

"Isn't that what you wanted," I say, looking over my shoulder "For me to follow in his footsteps to ensure that our Alpha line stays strong? She's an omega, she's weak. She'll weaken the Alpha line."

Mom nods.

"Alright," Mom says "Just...give the girl time to heal first."

I shake my head.

"I can't," I say "The Council is coming to get her and take her back to Council grounds. They want to press charges against her former pack for the attempted murder of a pack member."

Mom nods.

"Alright," Mom says "I hope she doesn't turn into a bloodhound."

I nod.

"Yeah," I say "Me too."

Mom exits my office and I call Paul to have him bring the omega to my office. Once she arrives, she taps on the door.

"Hi," I say "Come in. Close the door behind you."

Jinx enters, closing the door behind her and slowly walking over. I nod to the chair in front of my desk.

"So," I say "I need to know your name if you're going to be in my pack."

"Jinx Renae Willow," Jinx says softly "Don't worry. I figured by the way you were acting in the pack hospital that you'd be rejecting me. You could've just said so."

I open my mouth and then close it.

"I may not have a wolf," Jinx says softly "But I'm no idiot. I've been around werewolves my whole life. I've seen the way mates look at each other. I've heard of the sparks and the feelings. I was immediately drawn to you. You looked at me as if your whole world revolved around me. Only it doesn't, you don't want me otherwise you would've claimed me as soon as Dr. Jacobson asked Beta Paul to assist me in sitting upright while she looked at my back."

"I'm sorry," I say softly "But you're an omega and I need a strong mate."

Jinx smiles sadly.

"Yeah," Jinx says softly "I'm sorry, too, Alpha Pierce."

"Alright then," I say softly "I, Alpha Pierce Joseph Sinclaire of Blue Moon Pack, reject you, Jinx Renae Willow, as my mate and Luna."

"Mmm," Jinx says softly, rubbing her chest "I, Jinx Renae Willow, accept your, Alpha Pierce Joseph Sinclaire's, rejection."

I feel the bond snap and Jinx closes her eyes, rubbing her chest.

"Well," Jinx says softly "That's over. May I be dismissed?"

I nod, watching her exit my office.
