Chapter 15:
Amelia {POV}
The next morning, I woke up feeling tired and heavy. My stomach churned repeatedly, it was annoying, it made me turn and turned in total discomfort, I felt like vomiting. I quickly rushed inside the toilet and threw up. This was definitely morning sickness, my pumpkin is officially three months old in my belly, then the urge came again, this time with a slight headache. I struggled to lift myself up from the floor as I moved over to the sink, splashed my face with cold running water. I felt drained, lost all my energy, and emptied my belle, now I'm hungry. I discovered that I tend to get hungry these days.
I glanced at myself in the mirror, and stared back at my messy hair and wearied face.
On my way out of my room, I arranged myself properly, whipped my hair in a bun as I opened the door, I found Louis standing about to knock before I opened it unexpectedly.
At first glance, I loved his casual milky T-shirt and brown pants. He looked different from his intimidating appearance just as he left me at the airport. He just left me there for his secretary to take care of and we haven't seen each other all day.
A frown crossed my face at the memory, even if he doesn't like me at least I deserve some respect.
"I had an important meeting so I had to leave you like that at the airport. My apologies, I should have taken you home properly," he apologized promptly before I could say anything.
"You... You are apologizing to me?"
My eyes widened at his sudden apology, I glanced at him slowly to make sure I was speaking to the right person, not a fictional figure from my mind. I walked around him in awe, and poked him softly on the chest to be sure he was the one standing next to me.
He seems different and a bit relaxed unlike earlier on. I wondered what changed. He looked stunned when I poked him.
"Are you done," he asked
"Meet me downstairs, let's have breakfast, " he switched back to his normal self.
"Now we're talking, " I exclaimed loudly enough for anyone around to hear.
"For once I thought our princely has become a softy",
At my proclamation, he didn't look annoyed but rather smug as he walked away leaving me to follow him from behind. The smirk on his face was definitely a sign of mockery.
When we got to the dining table, I realized how hungry I was.
Louis turned towards my direction and drew out a seat for me, his sudden show of politeness and care was quite astonishing.
Mrs. Maria and a few servants brought in our breakfasts, I was extremely happy that I totally forgot he was even present. While I was about to finish my strawberry pancakes, I grabbed a glass of pineapple milk through the glass. I noticed Louis had been watching me eat nonstop. Embarrassed, I felt my face flush as my cheeks became reddened as the milk entered the wrong tunnel, I got choked.
As I coughed repetitively, he handed over a glass of water.
"Thank you, "
"I haven't really had anything since yesterday, " I tried to justify my action
"I know, " he said dramatically
"Mrs. Maria, my fiancee hadn't eaten, please pay proper attention to her feeding, " he overemphasized.
Before I could say a word, I felt a quick urge to vomit as I rushed to the nearest restroom.
This shit was weakening, my entire body now trembling, my head spinning round and round as I kept vomiting at every urge. My legs were jiggling as I tried to stand up, I suddenly fell back, thankfully Louis caught me from behind.
"Are you okay, " he asked with great concern.
"Not really, " I said as my eyes met his.
His hands on my waist and shoulder brought me comfort, yet it suddenly flared up my hormones.
"I will take you to your room, you better lie down till you are okay, " he ordered, expecting no protests.
Too tired already I just nodded.
He carried me in a bridal style. My arm wrapped around his neck, I buried my face against his chest, his hand gripped me tightly, I felt like a baby.
His chest moved in an unrhythmically manner, muscles tightened as he climbed through the stairs, I could feel his every breath hot and raw. In his arms everything felt alright as if I was meant to be, I wanted to stay longer. When he laid me down on the bed, I realized I was living in a false dream.
Mrs. Maria brought me some hot ginger tea.
"This will reduce the vomiting and stop the tiredness." She said as she placed it on the center table as she stood next to me. While drinking the tea, I noticed Louis didn't leave as expected, rather he sat down on my pink sofa.
"Why are you still here? " I asked, expecting him to leave since he just witnessed my most embarrassing moment.
"Keep drinking, " he ordered rather than answering.
"I don't want to,"
I dropped the bowl back on the table.
"If you want to lessen the vomit, you have to listen and drink up, " he raised a sharp brow at me, warning me not to protest.
I drank it all up while Mrs. Maria patted me softly on the back.
" Don't worry, you will feel better, just have some rest and relax, " Mrs. Maria said as she cleared out the table.
"If you need anything just press the red button on your telephone, " Mrs. Maria said as she pointed at the telephone on my bedside table, then she left.
I glanced over at the telephone, I hadn't noticed before, Louis was still here, he didn't say a word but his stare lingered. His eyes were terrifying, it made me feel unsafe as if I had been offered a deserving punishment. He wasn't even saying anything that would have been better rather he just sat down and watched me.
"How are you feeling now, "he asked after a while.
"Better, the ginger tea did work,"
Truly it did, I was feeling a lot better than earlier.
The only headache I have is seated in an opposite direction staring at me.
"Good, " he raised princely.
"You need a personal maid, I will have Dorothy make the arrangements tomorrow,"
"Why?, " I asked curiously because I don't see a need to have one, there are a lot of servants here already at my disposal.
"For your safety and the baby's," he answered after a long sigh before exiting the room without waiting for my acceptance or refusal.
Why am I not surprised
His show of concern was for his child, I'm carrying, if anything happens to me now, it will surely affect his baby.
At his disposal, I laid my head down to sleep for a while before Dorothy arrived to drain my energy with her tutors from Cambridge.
***
I had no idea how long I had slept when I woke up. It was past one in the afternoon. When the Maids informed me of Dorothy's arrival, I got dressed and headed downstairs. She was already seated with two other ladies who sat prudently on separate settees.
"Dorothy, why didn't you call me when you arrived, this is past one, " I asked as I walked towards her.
The maid had informed me that she arrived early but was waiting for me to wake up.
She gives me her usual wide smile that conveys a lot of meaning.
" His highness, asked me not to disturb you till you wake, yesterday was a bit stressful," she said
"Come seat, " she directed me to a seat in the Victorian-styled camelback Light brown sofa.
I sat down next to her. She turned towards the women and made a quick introduction.
"This is Mrs. Oliver, she would be your tutor in Language and ethics."
She pointed at the lady at the far east who looked tall, between her late thirties, her eyes were a bit drawn out, oval-shaped face and flawless skin, and her auburn hair was remarkable, at her introduction she smiled warmly with a bow not to low, not too high moderate and eloquent.
" And this is Miss Delia, she will be teaching you history and culture, "
Unlike Oliver, she looked tougher to deal with, tall and a bit manly but still had some feminine attributes in her personality. She didn't smile, she just bowed.
Hmm
Oliver was graceful and prudent.
Delia was intimidating and tough. I love their temperaments, it was like a mixture of fire and ice.
"I like them, " I said abruptly with a smile at Dorothy.
Who looked pleased with my proclamation.
"Well then ladies, let's begin."
