Chapter 16'
Louis{POV}
The guys and I made plans to meet each other later at the Lounge.
I left Amelia in her room to get some rest before leaving for work with a specific instruction not to disturb her till she woke up.
Life has a way of doing things, when you think you have it all planned, it throws you down unexpectedly.
Who would have thought that the girl carrying my child would be the one I saved the night my fiancee was killed?
No wonder she looked so familiar the day I saw her at the hospital, she has no memory of meeting me because she was totally knocked out.
I took a sharp breath of air to purify my mind. Amelia has made lots of improvement lately but I am still worried about her adjustments. She seems okay but I could tell she was worried. My major reason for denying her access to the internet was to prevent her from the mess made by social media. To keep her mind in check before meeting my family. This decision I have no idea if I'm right or wrong but for now it's better off. Any moment from now, the media house would start spreading rumors of my meeting with Kina. Starting another misconception and scandal for people to judge me.
I have been too quiet for a long time, I need the world to know that I can no longer be satisfied as a royal underdog. I am prince Louis Han-Walser, head of the Schadler, heir apparent to the throne. With time I will make them quiver.
I had allowed my enemies greater chances to play their game and make a mockery of me for a long time, allowing them to debate my fate, turn me into a villain in the eyes of my people, caged me like an animal, and destroyed everything I had worked for. Never again would I remain careless and willing like a puppet. Not only do I have a kingdom to fight for but a wife and child on the way to protect.
I could feel anger inflaming my heart, the provoking memories of my past flashed before my eyes, I lost my birth mom, I got sent away under the protection of my foster parents, and I lost them too when they tried to save me when I returned they watched me silently as I grow in power while they make plans, schemes for my downfall.
This was precisely what they wanted, to throw the royal family into a battlefield. While they watch in amusement betting their money on who takes the fall, who wins, or rather who destroys the family legacy.
If I knew better, I would have run the other way the day my foster parents died, pretending to have been killed in the shootout instead of going straight home to meet a father who didn't even care for my existence instead sent me back to where I came from, wounded and heartbroken.
My arrival after the incident was a draw-out just to prove to my enemies, I'm not an easy target to kill.
But now I feel like a disappointment to both my mother, and foster parents, all evidence of their murder lost in thin air.
That mortifying incident made me hate the man I called my father the most, he was so selfish and wicked, abandoned me at the time of my need, left me for the world to crumble and destroy.
A mental picture of Amelia sleeping peacefully crossed my mind.
I sneered at the thought of anyone hurting her.
"Let the game begin, " I muttered standing at the window viewing the world.
***
I found myself an early bird as I arrived at the club. The manager informed me that only Oscar had just arrived not too long before I got there.
Connor sent me the details of the suspected organization that uses the tattoo as a logo.
The assassin group is a top-secret organization even the FBI has very little or no information about them. The group is owned by a very powerful man no one had any idea of his identity.
Who is he?
The group name is Scorpinto, the name alone sends people to their early graves. Whoever hired an assassin from the group must be Influential ... Very Influential.
I need to find out what lord Elliott has with this group.
Is he aware they have a hand in his daughter's death?
Or was he willing to lose his daughter, to that extent?
This is so absurd!
I found Oscar pouncing down numbers on his phone, he barely noticed my presence.
"Oscar,"
I called out as I made my entry.
This got his attention off his phone.
"Finally you are here! what kept you guys?" he asked.
I smirked as I walked in.
Oscar was a typical example of the work hard no play kind of guy. If it wasn't for our little meet-outs, he would be in his office burying his head with work. He never stays too long in a meet-out, always in a hurry or the first to leave.
"Did you see that rascal on your way here, " he asked
Obviously, he was referring to Sebastian, before I could answer Sebastian popped his head in the lounge, looking stylishly dressed but mischievous as always.
"Who me?!," he asked, joining us as he sat down at my left side with Oscar at my right side. Our lounge was like a round table.
Two waiters arrived with a silver tray containing a champagne glass and the other an ice bucket of champagne.
"I met Lord Elliott in New York," I announced with irritating wrinkles on my brows.
"What was he doing there?" Oscar inquired.
His eye narrowed for a second
"We met at a hotel to catch up with life," the words played around my tongue as I stated the obvious reason.
"Like father-in-law and son-in-law or like dead meat and prey, " Sebastian asked, keying interest with amusement writing all over his face.
"Like father-in-law and son-in-law, "I hesitated for a while before answering.
I told them about everything we discussed and his proposal to meet Kina.
"Kina!, " Sebastian exclaimed, his tone marking his disbelief.
Sebastian looked blanked out as if his brain had just been drained out trying to match the two together but he still can't see them as allies.
Kina was a forgotten member of the Gassner family, she had never been Favored by her uncle or relatives. They never introduced her into their circle of acquaintance unless it was necessary. I remembered a time she told me about her uncle dressing her up just to amuse and dazzle his circle of old forks.
Disgusting!
Kina was strong-minded, she wasn't one to incline to her uncle's fake promises after all the humiliation he had put her through.
When I think of Lord Elliott who is overly proud of his position, daring anyone to challenge him, his growth in power was quite alarming. I don't think my father overlooked the current situation, instead, he kept him close as a dear friend.
The closer the better.
The slow ticking of Oscar's glass with his index finger made a small rhythmic sound, he was clearly deep in his own thoughts.
"They have started to dig up your trivial affairs," he began
"I thought you ended that affair year ago, how did he find out even though I know she was very careful back then, "
That's true Oscar was right, it was only Kina who could have told him of our relationship, it was a secret between her and me, the only people aware were my friends, she didn't even tell her own friends.
"What if she had been forced, remember she still has a junior brother left in her care, " Sebastian said flatly.
I nodded in agreement, that was my previous suspicion, Kina hates the media life and shied far away from it. She was very careful but daring back then.
When I saw her, she seemed reluctant at first, it was clear she muscled up all her dignity to approach me after so many years since we had our fallout.
We talked about my meeting with her at the seminar and its arising impact. I told them about Nora's supposed killer's tattoo and the same one found on Kina's date at the seminar.
"I don't think Lord Elliott would kill his only daughter for power", Oscar pointed out,
"He loved that girl too much to do so."
"I thought as much, but we know how much people like him could sacrifice for power, " I said, still in doubt.
"Any news about the guy in tattoos," Sebastian asked
"Yes, the group is quite old but powerful, they're called Scorpinto, and the owner's identity is still a mystery, "
"Scorpinto!," Oscar asked in a tone that revealed his knowledge of the group.
"This is getting pretty interesting young princely, I wish you all the best," Sebastian raised his glass with a smile on his face that connoted a sign of warning to be careful even while trying to be funny yet horrified.
Oscar didn't say anything for a while, his dark brow fused together as he thought of something. He seems to be contemplating, trying to wrap his mind around what I just told him. The facial expression he displayed shows that he was greatly disturbed, he grabbed his glass of wine and slipped it slowly.
"So what next to do?" he asked slowly as if he had just recollected something.
"I need a name, only the group info is not enough, ''
The profile of the killer was found with the police confirming his death six years ago. If the police keep digging, it will surely start bigger problems, the group is extremely dangerous, "
"Not to worry, I will get back to you tomorrow," Oscar says as he raises up abruptly in his businesslike manner.
Oscar was fast at getting this kind of info, even though I don't have any idea of his methods but trust him completely.
"Thanks, man, " We hugged.
As he was about to leave, he stopped, swiftly whipped around, and turned towards me.
"This time at your place, I want to see your lady," with this he left.
