CHAPTER 21: TROUBLE AT THE FREEMONT PART TWO

Luke calls the precinct. “This is Detective Hanson. I need back up at the Freemont Hotel ASAP. Carlos Santoro is here with a group of men.” Luke says before he hangs up the phone. He then walks around the corner while the men are still standing in front of a door.
“Hey!” He says as he raises his gun at them.

Gina POV

Tatiana and I are now sitting on the couch with Mateo sitting across from us. “Toby found us at the safe house. He came there with a few men from the Mexican Cartel. He came there to get what I had taken from him and also to kill me.” Tatiana says with tears in her eyes. “How did he find you?” I ask.
“She had her phone with her, they must have used her location to find her.” Dax says. “And where is the phone now?” I ask. “We had to get rid of it before we came here.” Dax says. “I’m so sorry that this happened to you.” I say as I put my arms around Tatiana. “I just want him gone Gina. He’s made my life a living hell.” Tatiana says.

Just then there is a knock on the door. Dax looks at the door. “Who is it?” He asks. “Room Service.” The person replies. “We didn’t order room service.” Dax whispers as he takes out his gun and walks over to the door. “Shit they found us. I have to get you out of here.” I say to Tatiana as we get up. “I see 5 guys standing in front of the door but there could be more down the hall.” Dax says as he aims his gun at the door.

“I’ll keep them busy. When I say go I want you all to get out through there.” Dax says as he points to the door at the other end of the room. That must be his hotel room as they got adjoining rooms. I nod at him as I take out my gun from my holster and I grab Tatiana’s hand. “Hey do you have another gun?” Mateo asks Dax. “Do you know how to use a gun?” Dax asks. “Yes my grandfather showed me.” Mateo says. Dax passes a gun to him.

“Yoh your food’s getting cold!” One of the men outside yell. Tatiana and I run into the room with Mateo right behind us. “Yeah well that’s too bad that it will all go to waste.” Dax yells back. I open the door of the room that leads to the hallway and I look to my left. I see a group of men standing there. Luke walks around the corner with his gun in his hand and the men don’t see him. “Hey.” He yells at them. Some of them look at him and they start shooting at him. He ducks back around the corner before looking at them again. He starts shooting his gun at them as well.

Dax starts shooting them through the closed door. “Go now.” He shouts at us. Tatiana, Mateo and I start running down the hall. “Hey there they are. Get them but Tatiana is mine.” I hear Toby shouting at the men. He and some of the men start chasing us down. Mateo and I shoot at them, some of our bullets hit two men in the chest and they fall down on the ground dead. We run down the stairs as the elevators are taking too long to open.
Toby and his men are still running behind us. “Do you think that you can run away from me Tatiana? I will always find you!” Toby yells at her. “Get away from me Toby. I don’t want you anymore.” Tatiana yells back at him as we reach the stairs that leads to the hotel’s foyer.

“Get her away from here.” I say to Mateo and he nods before I turn around to face Toby. “I’ve had enough of your bullshit today!” I say as I lift my leg up in the air and my foot hits Toby square in the face. He falls down to the ground. His men surround him. “Don’t worry about me. Just stop them!” He yells as he points to Tatiana and Mateo who have just left the hotel. The men run towards the entrance but before they can reach the door, I shoot them 3 times each in their backs and they fall down on the ground dead.

Mateo manages to get a taxi and he and Tatiana get in before the taxi drives away. I turn around just as Toby wants to punch me in the face. I duck out of the way before I grab his arm and I throw him over my shoulder. He slams down on the ground. “You’re going to pay for that you little bitch.” He says as he tries to get back up.
I hear police sirens coming down the street just before a couple of cop cars stop in front of the hotel. Captain Baldwin and Detective Saunders jumps out from one of them. “This isn’t over with.” Toby says as he gets back up and tries to run away. “oh no you don’t.” I say. I then punch him in his face as hard as I can making him fall down on the ground unconscious.

“Damn girl you can punch! He’s knocked out cold.” Garrett says as he runs towards us. “Cuff this fucker and take him to the precinct.” Captain Baldwin says.

“Where’s Luke?” Garrett asks me. We hear gunshots coming from the stairs.
“Probably still on the fourth floor. Come on let’s go.” I say as I run towards the stairs with the cops behind me.
As we get to the second floor, I run into someone making the person fall on the ground. I look down and I see that it was one of the men that were standing in front of the hotel room’s door earlier. “Hello sexy.” The man says as he looks at me. “Don’t you fucking sexy me. You tried to kill my friend.” I reply as I look around him. There are several ghosts standing next to him. “I would have succeeded if it weren’t for you and your friends. I know that you’re Giovanni Rossi’s daughter.” The man says.
“How do you know my father?” I ask him. “Oh he never told you about me? Me and him go way back!” The man replies but I am not looking at him. I’m staring at the hundreds of ghosts that are there.
“She can see us.” A woman says to the others. “That’s impossible! The living can’t see ghosts.” A man says to the woman. “I’m telling you that she’s looking straight at us.” The woman says. “LAPD!” I hear Garrett shouting as I feel someone touch my arm. I look down to see a young boy of about 12 to 13 years old looking back at me.
“Please can you help us. That man over there is pure evil.” The boy says as he points to Carlos who had just escaped through a door.
“Shit!” I say as I run after him.

Back to Luke. He spotted Gina and Mateo running down the hall as he was shooting at the men. “Santoro!” He yells at Carlos. “Detective Hanson it so good to see you again.” Carlos sneers at him. “Too bad I can’t say the same. I thought we deported you back to Mexico?” Luke asks.

“You know that you can’t keep me out of your country. I love America and America loves me.” Carlos replies as he starts laughing at him. “You’re so fucking delutional.” Luke replies. They both start shooting at each other. Luke manages to shoot Carlos in the shoulder. “Now you look what you did. You ruined my favorite suit.” Carlos says as he grasps his shoulder. Luke tries to shoot at him again but he realizes that he ran out of bullets.

“That’s not all that I’m going to ruin.” Luke says as he punches Carlos in the face and then in his gut. “I’m going to ruin your whole fucking face.” Luke says as he wants to punch Carlos again but Carlos’s men grab onto him. Gunshots were heard and the three men that was holding onto Luke fall to the ground. Luke looks up and he sees Dax standing there with a gun pointing at them. They don’t notice that Carlos and his last two men are escaping through the stairway.

“Where’s the other guys?” Dax asks him. They look around and Luke sees the door that leads to the stairs is closing. “I think they went this way.” Luke says as he runs to the stairs with Dax right behind him. They hear footsteps going down the stairs. “Sounds like they’re on the second floor now.” Dax says as he runs down first. Dax sees the men and he starts shooting at them but he misses them each time.
They hear a commotion going on on the first floor but they can’t see anything as they are too far up on the second floor. Luke sees that Gina is standing over Carlos and he gets back up. It looks like they are having a few words.
“LAPD!” Luke hears Garrett yelling and that makes Gina turn around. They manage to catch the two men but Carlos escapes through the door that leads to the underground parking of the hotel. Gina and Luke run after him but he gets into a car and drives away. “Shit.” Luke says as he looks at the car speeding away.
