Book 2, Chapter 37 - Beth, Meeting Madison

**Third Person**

**Present Day**

Caden, Arthur, and Damien sat silently brooding in the main living room. Damien looked uncomfortable, his hands twitching on his leg like he was playing a musical number. The twins were silently seething, tapping away at their phones. Damien's reluctance to say anything until the whole family was around was irritating. The fact that he was alive was a huge unfinished issue.

The twins had called their parents when Beth insisted Damien come in and sit. She headed to the kitchen to fix some refreshments and let her silent tears fall. Madison had been her sister for ten years. They just weren't family; they were best friends and always got into trouble together.

As she was preparing coffee for everyone, Beth began to reminisce about the first time she met Madison and the crazy adventure they had that sealed Beth's fate all those years ago.

_*flashback*_

Beth was locked up in what the twins called "their" room. It had been three days since she first woke up and found herself bound to the bed by cuffs. Each night, the twins cuffed one of her hands to the headboard and made a point to squish her with their body weight. They pinned her other hand and her legs beneath them and would spoon her. Her pride wouldn't let her admit it, but the two incredibly handsome devil twins were sexy as hell, and it made her panties damp.

Each day, they would leave her in the morning and return late at night. The butler was the only one to come in and deliver her food, along with six heavily armed guards outside her door. She found that out very quickly as she tried to sneak past the butler the first time the door opened.

Thankfully, the butler would bring her something to occupy herself, usually a book. She longed to go out into the vast gardens below the huge bay windows that she loved to sit by.

On the second day, she swore she saw a young girl playing with a young tiger. Her attention had been pulled by the sound of the butler entering the room, so when she turned her attention back to the window, the girl was gone, and Beth simply decided it was her imagination. A girl with a tiger. How preposterous, right? No one has tigers as pets, let alone a small girl, she thought.

On the third day, she lost all sense of reality in the magical worlds of the fiction books. For the last few days, she barely touched her food. That night, the twins were very stern with her and forced her to eat her dinner, which they asked the kitchen staff to remake. When Beth, being the stubborn woman she is, refused, they pinned her down and shoveled three spoons of mashed potatoes and chicken into her mouth before she relented and shouted, "I can feed myself, damnit!" She hesitantly began to feed herself after that and gave a warning in which she was told to eat all her food; otherwise, the next time, they would take away her ability to eat by herself.

Beth wanted to laugh, as their threat seemed so outrageous, but their serious expression told her not to fight that particular battle just yet. She hardly spent any time with these men. She felt like a prized caged exotic bird, surrounding her with metaphorical gold bars of doom.

It was mid-morning on a fourth day, and Beth once again hunkered down by the windowsill, nose in the book. The electronic lock made a light whirring sound, and then the door to the room slowly opened. Beth didn't pay any attention, as she was consumed by her fairytale. She presumed the day had flown by and it was time for lunch.

A young girl no more than ten or twelve peeked her cute head in the door frame like a ninja detective. A loose chocolate curl fell in her face from her otherwise messy bun that crowned her head. The girl scanned the room, and her face lit up once she saw Beth by the windowsill.

"Holy chocolate pie! Mom is going to shit skittles and eat the rainbow. My brothers are going to be so fucked!" the young girl squealed in the doorway. The girl quickly closed the door, and Beth was flabbergasted. "Hi, I'm  Madison!" she chirped as she went over to the bed and sat down like it was another Tuesday. The girl looked very familiar, and Beth realized it was the girl in the garden.

"Beth," she replied skeptically. Madison, sensing the curious look, waved her off absentmindedly.

"Oh, don't look at me like I'm the enemy! I may be ten, but that doesn't mean I don't know what happens around here. I am sure my brothers told you everything?" Madison began to ramble.

"Actually, no," Beth exclaimed calmly, studying the girl more closely. Madison just looked at her like she had two heads. "I was brought here a few days ago, and all I know is that those asshats think they put a claim on me! The audacity!"

"Oh, I like you! You are like my mom. She actually was taken too by my dads like eons ago!" Madison said, pulling out a sucker from her pocket and shoving it in her mouth.

"Don't you mean Dad, sweetie," Beth said sweetly, trying to correct her gently.

"Nope! Dads as in plural. I have four of them. We all do, including my brothers and me. Those twatwaffles that stupidly took you are my oldest brothers. I have twelve total," Madison professed.

"Twelve?" Beth gulped.

"Yep! I'm actually the youngest of triplets! Here, let me give you a rundown of our family," Madison exclaimed, then went into a detailed history of the O'Donnell-Anderson clan. During Madison's narration, Beth moved closer to the young dramatic orator and ended up cross-legged on the bed beside her.

"Okay, so let me get this straight – your brothers, Caden and Arthur, the douchebags that took me, are the oldest children of the supposed world-famous Jason O'Donnell and the world's most feared and respected north hemisphere Mafia family, and now are the new Dons of the entire empire. They took me just like your dads took your mom all those years ago, which is why you said your mother is going to be pissed off. You have a dangerous potty mouth and a flair for dramatics. Did I leave anything out?" Beth repeated.

"That's about it," Madison said.

"Okay, well, first of all, I like you. And since it looks like I am stuck in this situation for a while, what do you like to do?" Beth said, changing the subject.

"I don't know. I never get to leave this place. I never get to leave the property unless we go on vacation, and then it's usually to Mom's island. We even have our own airstrip and plane on the other side of the property where the training warehouses are. I've been told all my life it isn't safe. Being the only daughter of the greatest mafia men puts a price on your head. All my brothers get to do normal people things," Madison moped.

"Hey, I am sure it isn't that bad," Beth said, trying to lighten the mood. "Besides, if you were in boring school or training or whatever shit they do, you wouldn't be able to hang out with me!"

"That is so true!" Madison said with a mega-watt smile. "Oh, I have a great idea!" she shrieked. "As much as I love your company and would love it if you became my sister, the heavens know I would kill to be able to have less testosterone in this forsaken place... you want to get out of here, right?"

"I mean, yeah," Beth said, biting her lip. She really did want some freedom.

"I can get you out of here. But on one condition," Madison proposed.

"And what is that little one?" Beth chuckled.

"Take me with you," Madison said with a serious expression.

"Excuse me?" Beth asked.

"I know I didn't stutter. Everyone thinks I stutter. I may be small and young, but I have seen things even though my family thinks I don't know anything. I am really good with numbers; I know how to get a hold of a lot of money and fake IDs; I can even shoot a gun. Please take me with you. PLEASE! I want to see the world not from an airplane. I don't want to live as a sheltered bird anymore. If I help you escape, please take me with you. We can go on the run together because once my parents and brothers figure it out, you will need me and my resources to stay under the radar," Madison said enthusiastically. Beth narrowed her eyes, trying to look into the young girl's soul.

"Why are you doing this? You are ten, Madison. Your family would kill me if I endangered even a single hair on top of your head. I haven't even met them yet, but something tells me, with the amount of guards you have around here, that you mean a great deal to them," Beth attempted to persuade the young las.

"Because what my brothers did was beyond stupid. And I want to watch them get hung by their toes. They have turned into the most brutal animals, and I want them to burn. Mom nearly beat all the boys more than once, trying to show them they can't take girls without consent. I figured out what they did when I saw you at the window, and I'm disgusted." Madison replied with a sadistic sparkle in her eyes.

"Welp, that's good enough for me!" Beth replied with a smile. The girls laughed, and Madison leaned over and hugged Beth like a sister.

"Okay, so pack a small backpack with a few days of essentials. We will leave after lunch," Madison chirped, rising to her feet quickly.

"Why after lunch?" Beth asked.

"Well, it's pasta day for one. I love me some of Chef's lobster bisque and grilled cheese. Got to feed my growing food baby. And two, I need time to make the cookies. Lace them with sleeping pills so the guards all fall asleep, duh!" Madison practically screamed as she ran to the door. "Be ready at two. Hope you know how to drive; otherwise, we may not get very far!" Just then, the door opened up, and Madison skipped outside.

Little did they know just how coveted Madison was and the trouble waiting for them on the other side of the compound walls.
