A Grand Ball
The days of peace continued to bless the kingdom, and with each passing day, the sense of normalcy grew stronger. The Queen’s Keep was bustling with activity, and the air was filled with a sense of anticipation and excitement. I had been thinking about how to celebrate this newfound peace and bring joy to the people I loved.
As I walked through the halls of the keep, I enjoyed every day we spent here. I just wish we had a way to mark the occasion. The longer I thought about it the more I want to do something. As I walked an idea began to take shape in my mind. A ball. A grand celebration to honor the peace we had fought so hard to achieve. It would be a night of music, dancing, and laughter, a chance for everyone to come together and enjoy the fruits of our labor. The idea was the best one I've had in days.
I made my way to the courtyard, where Deaken and Damon were sparring. Their movements were fluid and precise, a testament to their skill and dedication. They have been working none stop to hone their skills. Each have said so they can serve as my protecters. They won’t let what happened to the last queen happen to me. I watched them for a moment, a smile playing on my lips. They were both so strong, so capable, and I felt a surge of pride.
As I stood there, a familiar voice echoed in my mind, the voice of the late queen. You are fortunate, Caroline, she whispered. To have two such strong men by your side. My life would have been much different if I had people like that when I was alive.
I felt a pang of sadness at her words, but also a deep sense of gratitude. I know, I thought back. And I will cherish them every day.
The queen’s voice faded, leaving me with a renewed sense of purpose. I would honor her memory by ensuring that our kingdom remained strong and united. And I would never take for granted the love and support of Deaken and Damon.
“Hey, you two,” I called out, walking over to them. “I have an idea.”
They paused, turning to look at me. “What is it?” Deaken asked, wiping the sweat from his brow.
“I want to throw a ball,” I said, my excitement evident in my voice. “A grand celebration to honor the peace we’ve achieved.”
Damon’s eyes lit up. “That sounds like a wonderful idea, Caroline. I’m sure everyone would love it.”
Deaken nodded in agreement. “I think it’s a great idea. It would be a perfect way to bring everyone together and celebrate.”
I felt a surge of excitement. “Great! I’ll start making the arrangements. There’s so much to do, but I know it will be worth it.”
Over the next few days, the keep was a flurry of activity as preparations for the ball began. I worked closely with the staff, overseeing every detail to ensure that the night would be perfect. The grand hall was transformed into a magical space, with twinkling lights, elegant decorations, and tables laden with delicious food.
I spent hours discussing the menu with the chefs, tasting various dishes to ensure everything was just right. The kitchen was a hive of activity, with cooks bustling about, preparing an array of delectable treats. From savory appetizers to decadent desserts, every dish was crafted with care and precision.
In the meantime, I also worked with the decorators to transform the grand hall. We chose a theme of starlight and elegance, with twinkling fairy lights draped across the ceiling and delicate floral arrangements adorning the tables. The room was filled with a soft, golden glow, creating an atmosphere of enchantment and wonder.
As the day of the ball approached, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. This was my chance to bring joy to the people I cared about, and I wanted everything to be perfect. I spent hours going over the guest list, making sure that everyone who had played a part in our victory was invited. From the bravest warriors to the humble villagers, everyone deserved to be a part of this celebration.
One afternoon, as I was finalizing the seating arrangements, Deaken and Damon found me in the grand hall. They had been sparring again, and their faces were flushed with exertion.
“How’s it going?” Damon asked, peering over my shoulder at the seating chart.
“It’s coming together,” I replied, smiling up at him. “I just want to make sure everyone has a good time.”
Deaken placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. “You’re doing an amazing job, Caroline. This is going to be a night to remember.”
I felt a surge of gratitude for their support. “Thank you. I couldn’t do this without you both.”
As the final preparations were made, I took a moment to reflect on everything we had accomplished. The kingdom had been through so much, but we had emerged stronger and more united than ever. This ball was a testament to our resilience and our ability to find joy even in the darkest of times.
That evening, as the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the keep, I found myself in the garden, taking a moment to breathe and enjoy the tranquility. The flowers were in full bloom, their scents mingling in the air, and the gentle rustling of the leaves provided a soothing backdrop.
Deaken and Damon joined me, their presence a comforting constant. We stood there in silence for a moment, taking in the beauty of the garden.
“Caroline,” Deaken began, his voice soft and sincere. “There’s something we wanted to ask you.”
I turned to look at him, curiosity piqued. “What is it?”
Damon stepped forward, a playful smile on his lips. “We were wondering if you would do us the honor of being our date for the ball.”
I felt a surge of emotion, my heart swelling with affection for both of them. “I was planning on taking you both anyway,” I said with a laugh, feeling a warm glow spread through me. “But yes, I would love to be your date.”
Deaken’s eyes softened, and he took my hand in his. “You mean the world to us, Caroline. We wanted to make sure you knew that.”
Damon nodded, his eyes twinkling with mischief. “And we wanted to make it official.”
I squeezed their hands, feeling a deep sense of gratitude and love. “Thank you. You both mean everything to me.”
I leaned in and kissed them both. The kiss with Damon was soft and sweet while the kiss with Deaken was hard and hungry. I had to pull away from both trying to catch my breath. I have spent just about every waking moment with one or both of them, but we haven't spent much time in bed. We have all been far to busy. I was lucky to get a quick kiss here or there. I was hoping tomorrow night will change that.
We stood there for a moment, wrapped in each other’s embrace, the world around us fading into the background. It was a sweet and tender moment, a reminder of the bond we shared and the love that had brought us together.
As the night drew on, we made our way back to the keep, the anticipation of the ball filling the air. There was still much to do, but I felt a sense of peace and contentment, knowing that I had the support and love of Deaken and Damon.
