Chapter 15
You ever felt the urge to start up a conversation with someone about the thing you'd love to forget most?
Welcome to my world of mishaps.
Sitting right next to Carlisle in his car, I was running through different ways to bring up the subject of that panties flash. It was bad enough that he had seen me vulnerable after my breakup, but seeing my underwear was something else.
"Hey."
"Hey."
We both said at the same time, like we were reading each other's minds. He chuckled softly, which caused me to spread my lips into a smile.
"You can go first." He said, tearing his gaze from the road to my face. Though his stare was swift, I could feel his eyes burning into me.
"I just wanted to...to..." I looked out the window, browsing through my head for the next word. Till it hit me like a storm!
"Ask why the hell you were waiting for me under the rain. It just screams stalker if you ask me." I managed to tell him, deciding to forget all about the incident.
"I don't know, maybe I was hoping a gush of wind would blow your skirt up." Was his shameless reply, a reckless grin drawn across his face.
Both my ears reddened at his lewd joke, but I casually laughed it off, as I fumbled with the hem of my skirt, only now realising how short it was.
I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, and parted my lower lip to tell him to take a right. But to my surprise, Carlisle made a right turn all by himself and, as though he had been to my house before.
"How do you know where I live?" I defensively probed, more than ready to take off my seatbelt and jump right out of the car.
"Relax Peyton, I'm not a stalker or anything like that." That response wasn't close to anything convincing.
"That's the same thing a stalker would say, I think I need to get down." I said, indicating that he needed to stop the car.
For a minute he just kept on driving without a care, but after taking some glances in my direction, he eventually listened to me. I swiftly took off my seatbelt and attempted to leave the car.
"Wait." He held me back by the elbow, and brought his face closer to mine, I froze for a split second, stunned by how deep his piercing gaze penetrated into my fleeting gaze.
"I didn't want to do this but..." He rested his right palm underneath my ear, bringing my eyes to meet his own. Just as I was about to raise an alarm, he bridged the gap between us, barely leaving an inch space.
"Put your seatbelt back on and sit down." He stressed each word that ran out of his mouth, as he loosened his grip on my elbow. I couldn't tell why, but he sounded ten times more intimidating than usual.
And for some reason, the air grew colder and before I knew it, I felt the irresistible urge to do just as he said. But right as my hands were about to comply, a strong sense gripped me, snapping me back into reality.
"Not happening!" With that said, I pushed him away and jumped out of the car into the harsh rain. Ignoring how my skirt stuck to my skin as I Strutted down the sidewalk, pushing my hips every which way.
I rested my left hand on my chest, in a bid to try calm down my raging heartbeat. I was short of breath and the cold downpour failed to help me think straight.
"I should call Dad..." I said to myself, reflexively sticking my hand into the bag that I was currently without.
*Shit*
My things were still in his van! I had to go back for it! My feet made a move to turn around, but the sudden blockage of rain made me look up.
The first thing my eyes caught sight of was a black umbrella hovering over me, caging me from the rain. I felt a presence standing behind me, so, I looked over my shoulder to see him.
Standing in the rain, whilst he held the umbrella out for me, ensuring not a single droplet of rain drenched my shoulder.
I didn't know if it was the cold that made my cheeks turn red, or the heat my entire body felt from just staring at his water dripping face. His locks of hair stuck to his forehead, dripping small drops of rain down his gorgeous face.
"I'll walk you home under the rain if you need me to, just... Don't be mad at me any more." He told me, taking a step closer to where I stood.
Although I was pissed, I didn't step back, instead, I pulled him by his arm and helped me under the umbrella.
"You will explain how the hell you know my house, but that can wait. I think we both need to get dry for now." I said, avoiding anything that would make me even more pissed.
"Deal."
*********
"When I said we both needed to get dry, that means you're going to have to come in first. If you stand outside you'll catch a cold." I tried to explain to Carlisle, for the third time in a row.
He was oddly stubborn about not wanting to come inside, I was even growing a bit suspicious of him. "Come on in Carlisle, I won't bite you." I reassured him, as I took my shoes off, glad that my dad's car wasn't parked outside.
The very last thing I needed was my parents throwing all sort of inconsiderate questions at him, and scare the poor guy away.
My words must have gotten to him, because he stepped forward, closing the umbrella in his hands. I smiled fully, glad that he listened to me.
Something I would appreciate other people doing every now and then. "Take off your shoes before you walk in." I sternly told him as I looked over my shoulder, only to find him already doing that.
He really was starting to look like a mind reader.
His clothes were dripping water all over the flooring, he must have caught a horrible cold by now. To worsen his case, the heater broke down two days ago, and dad insisted he could 'fix it'.
"Yeah, I'll need you to take that off, I'll toss it into the drier, you can borrow one of my dad's robes if you..." The words I had planned to say disintegrated, as my jaw hung at what he had been hiding underneath that grey hoodie.
"Holy hell!" I heard someone voice out my thoughts from behind me, the familiar voice belonged to none other than my tacky sister, Sophia.
Following her fazed voice, was the sound of a mug crashing unto the wooden floor, shattering into a hundred pieces!
I made a one eighty and found my younger sister staring at the well chiseled body belonging to a highschooler, bearing the name of Carlisle Stoll.
Could I blame her? No. His grey hoodie was definitely doing a great job at hiding his beautiful physique.
It became so hard for me to look anywhere but at his hot body, that I crouched down to pick up the pieces of the broken mug. Without putting much thought into it, I attempted to pick up a piece and ended up pricking my finger against it's sharp edge.
"Damn it!" I cursed harshly, staring at the cut that was oozing out blood too quickly. My mind went towards the first aid kit on the kitchen island.
Just as I was about to do spring up to my feet, Carlisle had taken my hand in his, and led me to sit on the nearest couch. He made his way to the kitchen island directly and aimed for the first aid kit idly sitting there.
Before I could blink, he was right in front of me on one knee, hot and shirtless, hurriedly looking through the first aid kit.
