An Alpha Is Born
He found her standing in front of a roaring fire; her hair flowed freely down the middle of her back. Harper and Christian were nowhere to be found; this was his journey to take so it made sense they were not there. She watched him approach; there was something different about his demeanor, an unseen confidence shone brightly in his aura. Yes, she thought, it was time.
“The time has come, Brayden, for you to embrace your ancestors; your heritage that was stolen from you so many years ago. This time I cannot go with you; this part of your journey is for you to take alone,” she said as she handed him the same drink she gave him the day before. He stood and stared at her in confusion; how was he to navigate his memory without her?
“I will be here waiting for you, follow your instincts, listen to your heart and hear with your ears. Your senses will tell you everything you need to know and do.” He took a long drink of the potion as she raised her arms towards the full moon; she began her chant as he felt himself drift off into a trance-like state. Just as before he felt his head start to spin and his insides become anxious; he could still hear her chanting.
Everything was foggy; it was like a huge cloud was blocking everything in his sight. He started to panic, not knowing where he was; unable to see, and then he heard her whisper “use your senses”. Taking a deep breath he forced his mind to relax; his breathing went back to normal and the clouds began to disappear. That’s when he saw her; his mother, beautiful as ever, holding the same infant he saw in the first vision, he saw himself. Her look was that of so much love, her heart shone through her eyes. A voice from afar interrupted his memory; a familiar voice, but where was it coming from? He closed his eyes and tried to focus on his hearing, it was coming from a room a short distance from where he saw his mother; he shifted his attention to the voices.
“You have marked this family and this kingdom with darkness! Do you realize what you have done? Not only did you murder the Moroccan Alpha, you stole his only son! His pack will surely seek revenge; and so shall the child’s mother,” Luka’s voice was clear to Brayden; another lie revealed. Did he not always tell Brayden his mother died giving birth? Then the memories of her death while holding him? It was all too much; everything was coming to light so quickly it took the very air from Brayden’s lungs.
He felt his skin begin to heat; where was this coming from? Keeping his eyes closed he forced himself to remain calm and continue to listen as his entire life’s secrets were being revealed. “I know exactly what I have done, Luka; I avenged a barren woman and gave her a son. A powerful son that will ensure my name carries on and the kingdom remains controlled by my lineage,” Henis responded angrily.
Of all the confusion and puzzle pieces, one thing was very clear; Brayden was not Henis’ son, his mother did not die during childbirth and his bloodline was supernatural. What the hell was happening? In all of his twenty eight years he has never shown any supernatural signs; he just assumed he was a natural born warrior, skilled in battle.
His mind was reeling, his skin was hot and he again was having problems breathing; it was hard for him to focus and he could feel himself start to slip away. “Breathe,” he heard her whisper; her voice brought him back. He calmed his breathing; keeping his eyes closed he began to listen again. “Do you have any idea what will happen once the child grows and finds out not only what he is but who he is! History always shows a son will avenge his father; you have stolen one of the most powerful Alpha’s heirs, his mate was the Queen Witch of the Highest Coven,” Henis angrily interrupted Luka, “ENOUGH! I know that of which I have done, Luka! The Druid lied! He broke his word with me; he swore the spell would work and I would have an heir of my own, but she is still barren. Do you not see the advantage of having a powerful Moroccan Alpha Prince on our side? He will be raised, with love, by ME and his mother; I am his father now and that is all he will ever know, and you are going to ensure that!”
Brayden’s rage began to build; he felt it from the deepest part of his soul; betrayal, lies, deception! For what? Greed? Power? His body felt like it was on fire, his eyes began to burn and his breathing was ragged. He was spiraling out of control and he had no idea what to do; panic set it. “I need out! Morgan, get me the hell out of here; I don’t know what is happening,” he yelled, enraged. Confusion took over as he couldn’t control the way his body was feeling and his anger was getting worse by the second. “Brayden!” he heard her stern voice, no longer was it a soft whisper, now it was a deep forceful shout, “you cannot stop your destiny; it is time,” she continued to yell.
He felt the intensity of her words, the winds began to thrust all around him, the brightness of the full moon surrounded him as he felt his body begin to change. The heat on his skin, his eyes burning, the racing images in his head of the infant on the boulder, the Alpha male standing fiercely before it, the attack of his father, the death of the Druid all swarmed his brain at the same time.
What was happening to him? There was a pain running through his body; although it was not unbearable, his skin began to tingle as he felt his arms begin to change. His hands seemed to grow; claws were now where his fingernails were, growing long past his fingertips. The strong jawline protruded out as his teeth became massive fangs; his eyes were changing color as he began to see things differently, more clearly.
Her chanting grew louder as his transformation began to take shape; he was no longer confused or scared. His heart began to race as he began to feel an uncontrollable urge building up deep inside him, yet he had no idea for what; until he heard her yell so loud his ears rang, “BRAYDENNNNN ROARRRRR!”
He let go of everything, totally succumbing to what he was; allowing his body to take the form of his true spirit and without hesitation he took a deep breath, raised his head to the full moon and let out a howl so loud and deep he swore he felt the earth move.
Sparks of light shone all around him; his attention focused on the woman before him. The long dark coat of hair replaced his bare skin, claws so large he could easily slice the tree beside him in half; drool oozed from his mouth and dripped from his fangs as he stood before her. Everything made sense; there was no more doubt, no more confusion, who and what he was became very clear and he fully embraced it.
“Your true self, Brayden, is not the warrior you thought you were but the Alpha you were born to be. It is your destiny to make wrongs right, to take your place as the Moroccan Alpha Prince. Many questions still remain, but only with time will you get all the answers you desire.”
Raising his arms in front of him he began to turn them in different directions, trying to take in what his body now looked like. His transformation didn’t scare him; he felt powerful, and for once, at peace. Anger still consumed him, all the lies and betrayal from the man who raised him; his lineage stolen from him, his ancestors erased from his memories only to be replaced with falsehood. They took everything from him and it was time to make them pay; avenge his father, bring their kingdom to its knees.
“Do not lose focus on your destiny at the hands of hatred; your journey is just beginning, Brayden. Your powers are still new to you and that could be a horrific disadvantage, you must think smart; learn your abilities before making any decisions,” Morgan knew his thoughts, revenge was something she anticipated; but now was not the time to be reactive. He was vulnerable even though he did not feel it; and she could not allow him to think or act reckless.
“Your transformation takes time to learn; it will not be an easy task,” she told him matter of factly. “Then teach me,” he growled. “I cannot teach you about your abilities, but I know who can,” she said as she looked up at him. His massive form towered over her, his alpha stature grew to an unbelievable size and he was a beautiful sight to see. “If not you, then who?” he asked as his chest moved in and out as his breathing intensified. “Your mother,” was all she said.
