Chapter 40

Using Jacqueline phone, Alice texts Bill to wait for her at the caf they usually meet. When Jacqueline learns of her bestfriends sly move, she freaks out and hits her head as punishment for being downright meddlesome. Though Jacqueline acts pissed, we all know she wants it. However, the text went unnoticed as Bill is busy with his work.
Roman thanks Phillip for vouching for him. He cant help but comment that Phillip is a spitting image of his cousin, Elon. Phillip laughs and agrees, adding that though it may be the case, he and his cousin are not close.
Bill's phone is dead and sadly, he wasnt able to read Jacqueline's text before it went off. He goes to talk with Professor Gerald and the good professor hands him important document for the ongoing research works. Hell be officially taking an indefinite leave and tells Bill to contact him through e-mail only. Bill then promises to take care of the lab while hes gone.
Later that night, Bill reads Jacqueline text. He immediately runs to the caf but hes 10 minutes late and Jacqueline already left. He then calls Alice asking for her help with the misunderstanding with Jacqueline. Alice agrees but murmurs that shes already broken and now shes going to help others patch up.
Alice parents payed her a surprise visit. And since Roman is staying with Richard Alice panics and calls him to go home. When her Dad looks for Roman, she blurts out that hes in the shower. But her Moms intuition and investigative eye tells her Alice is lying. Suddenly, the power goes off and with no Roman in sight, her Moms suspicion deepens. Alice sticks with the lie and raises her voice in alarm. Turns out, she unintentionally raises her voice when lying which only proves her Moms right. Luckily, Roman arrives on time, coming out of the shower as Alice is desperately trying to stop her parents from barging in.
With her parents gone, Alice heaves a sigh of relief. Roman offers to stay just in case her parents return for another surprise visit but since she's is in a daze, she absentmindedly tells him theres no need. Though disappointed, Roman is forced to leave.
Its the last day of shooting for Jacqueline and Alice, however, Alice is nowhere to be found. Jacqueline notices her absence and asks Richard where she might be. But Richard doesnt know, saying that all Alice said was shes playing a game. Jacqueline asks if its really okay for Alice to be alone since shes a certified badluck magnet and all. Richard assures that its fine, his employer cant be that wrong after all.
Alice is only at the pavilion, near the set. Shes mulling on why she indifferently talked with Roman. She tries to patch things up with him by sending her GPS location. Roman who is relaxing at the stony beach, receives the text but dismisses it immediately as one of Alice futile attempt to get his attention. He convinces himself that ignoring her is for her own sake. But unbeknown to him, Alice was attacked by an unidentified assailant after sending that text.
Roman remains apathetic with Alice ploy until he goes to a secluded warehouse and feels her erratic heartbeat. He stares at the cold storage room and immediately knows that Alice is trapped inside. He goes inside, fully aware that its a trap.
Indeed, Roman finds Alice , semi-conscious and freezing in the cold. He automatically drapes his coat over her and warms her hands. He then asks whos responsible and she weakly answers that he is. He retorts, sarcastically admitting that he dragged her there to be a fresh frozen corpse together. Even in her fragile state Alice jokes that they will be the best looking frozen corpse in the world.
Alice then remembers that Professor Gerald kidnapped her. She tells Roman to leave and call the police. Unfortunately, hes as helpless as she is because hes been weakened by the cold. Professor Gerald, who is monitoring the storage room through CCTV, lowers the temp even more.
Alice urges Professor Gerald to talk and settle things but the professor Gerald is convinced that they have nothing to talk about. The professor lays down his plan, saying that if Roman's body ice up, hell slit his throat just like what his enemy did 100 years go. But this time, hell make sure Roman wont wake up anymore. Roman begs Professor Gerald to let Alice go since her body cant take it anymore. But the professor doesnt give a damn, telling Roman that hell only allow Alice leave if she survives the cold, which of course is tantamount to not letting her go alive.
Alice had enough of the professors bullshit, so she pulls a wooden flank and throws it to the camera. She tells Roman to stop begging because she has no plans of leaving him anyway. She assures that its not his fault shes there, adding that shes just unlucky.
Hours passed and theres no sign that Professor Gerald will change his mind. Its getting colder and colder by the minute and Alice starts to lose consciousness. Roman hugs her tight, reminding her not to fall asleep or shell freeze to death. Alice tells him that before, she always finds him pitiful. Living on earth for 500 years and seeing his family and friends die one by one must be pretty lonely. But now, she wants to thank him for surviving those years, for changing history and walking to her. Now that it has come to this, she wants him to promise that hell continue living because in the future someone like her will be waiting for him to come. Roman kisses her in an attempt to save her. But since hes also freezing, it doesnt work. He can only urge her to keep talking, hoping that someone will save them soon.
Jacqueline and Richard goes frantic when Alice isnt in the thanks giving party and they cant get a hold of her or Roman. They report it to Hilton who immediately responds to the case. The police then conducts an investigation and learns of Alice last text to Roman.
Hilton's group arrives to the warehouse, just in time to save Roman and Alice They immediately arrest the professor and turn off the freezer. However, the storage room is coded and if they fail to key the right codes three times, the freezer will automatically lock for another hour. In desperation, Hilton asks Professor Gerald's help but the professor remains unfazed by the critical situation. He even gave a wrong code. Hilton nearly punched him in the face for that. Its clear that the professor will not cooperate, so Hilton turns to Bill. Good thing, Bill knows the professor quite well. He deduces that since the professor is sentimental, he might have used his daughters birthday as the code. Hilton enters the number but still, its not the code either. Bill then tells Hilton to use the current date. Thankfully, the door opens.
The professor is being transported when suddenly, a group of thugs ambush the police convoy and takes the professor away.
Upon knowing of the recent ambush, Hilton immediately goes to the research lab to talk with Bill. There, Bill confesses that Professor Gerald already knows that the dormant corpse is awakened. Most likely, the professor believes that Alice is somehow involved with the monster. He was even responsible for Alice knife accident on set. Indeed, the professor is acting strange lately but hes not gutsy enough to raid a police car. Hilton reckons that Professor Gerald is teaming up with someone influential. He probes on, asking Bill who else might have known of Alice and the dormant bodys connection. Bill thinks of possible individuals, concluding that aside from the professor, theres only one person who knows of the research results, the sponsor.

Unmistakable encounter.
